I debated between this and the 55-200mm. I figured for the difference in cost the additional zoom was worth it. The VR seems to work really well when not using a tripod.

The Nikon lens for 55mm-300mm is an excellent lens. It allows for a much closer picture at sports and school events, even when getting the not so wonderful seats.

this sense was purchased with the camera. It has a good range and the photos are beautiful. It is easy to use.

Been using this lens for the passed month now and I'm so happy i went with the 300mm to get that little extra distance and clarity. Yes, the manual focus is a bit sticky at first, but the more you use it the better it becomes.

We bought this to take action shot of my son's football and basketball games. It is a good lens, but does not get as close in as I had hoped. Overall though it is a good lens and produces much better pictures then the lens that came with my camera. I would recommend it.

This lens is far superior to the one that goes up to 200 mm. The pictures are crisp and clear. It is definitely worth the extra money.

This is my first telephoto lense and I am really glad I got it!!! It has a great range from 55-300 and you can take very good pictures.

After seeing pictures on line of how far the zoom lets you see I knew I wanted one. It takes great pictures of things of in the distance that you can barely see. Or you can get real close to things that are not quite as far away. The VR feature is amazing too. It is definitely fun to play with. I can't wait to go somewhere sightseeing and play with it there.

I use this lens the most during football season. Takes amazing photos with the right settings. Even during the night games too. As long as you understand how to shoot in manual mode and not auto. I will never be without this lens in my bag. The hood attachment is great on this lens. I truly think this lens is almost as great as some of the very expensive lenses if you have the camera set up properly. It would be super amazing with a lower f stop. But we make it work. Great value

This lens was easy to use and very helpful for big events. This is a must have for every starting out photographer.

This lens is perfect for capturing the shots you want! Zoom in or out, the picture is crisp and clear every time.

Very good lens, cover a wide rage of focal distance with a nice diaphragm aperture. It feels a bit light to the touch, as compared to the old lenses (25 years ago) that seemed to be more solid. But this lens would work very well and was very easy to handle (the light weight is very much appreciated when you carry your camera plus a couple of lenses for a while). Great value!
