It's the first large zoom lens I've purchased and love it, at 500mm with VR on you get a clear and sharp without a tripod.

TERRIBLE PACKAGING. Obviously opened a number of times, sold as NEW. Should have been discounted as open box. I insisted to department manager to physically inspect the lens which was obviously opened and not in factory dressed condition. I was rudely reminded over and over of Best Buy’s restocking fee and had to sign before purchase. NO OPEN BOX should be under that policy, period. Yes, of course I could have purchased elsewhere and mail ordered but I was hoping for less shipping contact. It’s not the sales persons fault, they are under duress to recite the Best Buy return policy and make you sign it. I have spent a LOT of money over the years in Best Buy, it is completely irrelevant, but this may be my LAST PURCHASE in their stores. Great, amazing lens, CRAP POLICY!

I read all the reviews and ratings of this lens and couldn't be happier. The length takes you out there where needed for birding and wildlife photography. The quality is equal to a lens selling for three to four times this one.

I spent a significant amount of time researching , and was initially leaning toward the Competitors 150-600mm lens. However I’ve been very pleased with my other Nikkor lenses so I decided to go with this one and I’m very pleased . Images are sharp even when shot handheld . I use it on my d750. Zebra pic shot at 400mm handheld

I use this lens for birds and wildlife. It definitely extends your reach. I've had this lens for about a month now and enjoy using it. I use a Black Rapid shoulder strap to carry it. I found that at 500mm, even with VR on, that I'm not as steady as I thought I was. When reviewing photos, I sometimes found my focus point to be "off" of where I was focusing. I had much better results when using my tripod. I would definitelyrecommend this lens.

Absolutely love this lens!! It’s amazing for wildlife photography! Also if you are looking to buying this lens, definitely get a good tripod!! It’s super heavy after a while.

I use this lens for wildlife photography. I purchased the lens for a trip to Alaska. Believe me you will not be disappointed

I took this lens to Africa for a safari. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Combine the price with its 200-500 zoom and you would be hard pressed to get better results without spending 2-3 times more.

I will recommend the AF-S NiKKOR 200-500 mm f/5.6E SuperTelefoto lens to anyone interested in Sport or Wildlife photography. I added a few pictures. More pictures are posted in Instagram

I really have enjoyed this lens. I purchased it mainly for wildlife. Takes great pictures. It is a little awkward to handle. The zoom ring, but other than that it's great. You definitely want a good tripod and head. Something that can hold over 25lbs.

This is a really sharp lens with vibration reduction this lens can be hand held. My lens is pared up with the Nikon D500 what a great combo. This is the best telephoto for the money without buying a large prime which are very expensive. Would recommend this lens for wildlife day time shooting. Not great for real low light situations with 5.6 aperture.

This is my first Tele-lens, so I don't really know if is the best lens on his category, but for me in just great quality lens. I have only two months with it an is working just perfect for the soccer games of my son.

I have only used the lens a couple times since purchasing it. I am including a cropped only copy of my first moon shot. I am a very experienced photographer in auto...I am just learning the manual aspects of photography.

I love this lens! It has really helped me take some great up-close shots. Mostly using for wildlife/birds on a Nikon D750.

Fantastic lens! I have been using mine mostly when I go to IndyCar races. You won’t be disappointed. It seems like it would be heavy, but the weight didn’t bother me (considering it has a handle). Worth the money!
