Customers are saying

Customers love the outstanding image quality and impressive zoom capabilities of the AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Super Telephoto Zoom Lens. The fast focus speed and effective Vibration Reduction are also frequently praised, along with the lens's reach and value for its price. However, some find the lens to be large and heavy.

Love the ability to zoom in and out and not be fixed at a specific mm. Very fast auto focus and incredible detail. Great for wildlife that doesn’t stay still for long

I have read almost all of the online reviews, talked to camera experts and tried the Sigma and Tamron 150-600 mm's, they are good lens and have great features, but in direct comparison I think this Nikkor 200-500 mm is by far the best. For me and my money, they are good, the Tamron, better than the Sigma, by some, but the Nikkor is excellent. I have used it to take pictures of a lioness that is so sharp, you cannot only see her snarl you can hear her when you look at the picture. I highly recommend this lens.

Excellent lense, crystal clear, its a heavy dude so don't buy one if you have wimpy arms. Very pricy compared to other brands with 600mm.

May want to consider getting a tripod with it. You can get great photos with out one but this is a heavy lens. Excellent photos. Have used for landscapes also

Very nice long tele zoom for the money. Works well on my D750. I can handhold if there is decent light. A definite upgrade from the older 80 - 400.

Like the lens, especially the auto focus. Quality seems good, will know more after using it to a greater degree. A downside, it is a bit on the heavy side but do understand the features likely drive that. Overall, it seems like a good lens for the price.

Good lens if you're looking for some reach and sharpness to boot. It is a beast however to hoist and lug around. Tripod shooters would like it for wildlife. It is too slow for sports.

Honestly after all the research I did prior to purchasing this lens my advice is to disregard any and all negative information about this lens. The quality is nothing short of amazing and maybe the professional pompous photographers have to realize the majority of photographers can't afford a $6,000 to $15,000 lens. Don't hesitate to purchase this lens and images are stunning at all focal lengths.

Sharp accurate focusing in a great lens. Easily one of the heavier lenses you're likely to have in your kit, but worth the weight.
