Very Sharp Lens

This lens is very sharp. Especially stopped down to F8. The VR allows for handheld shots down to 1/3 shutter speed. I've even got a few sharp images at 1/2 second. Distortion is easily corrected in photoshop when shooting at 24mm. Despite not having a very wide aperture, it's a nice walking around lens that delivers sharp photos at a fraction of the price. The VR helps with low light situations and at night with a tripod stopped down to f8 delivers beautiful contrast pictures.

Nikon - AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR Standard Zoom Lens - Black
This is an amazing lens for a full frame Nikon. I was looking for a general 'walk around lens' for my Nikon Df and was disappointed with the photo quality from Sigma and Tamron. Nikon had a couple offerings and this seemed to fit my needs. I have had this lens for almost two month and have shot close to two thousand images thru it and am completely happy. The auto focus is super fast and exposure is spot on. I have only one issue and it is a minor one. This lens is not as fast as I would like thus the depth of field is not as shallow but like I said this is a walking around lens that I keep on at all time. If I am wanting shallow depth of field I can plan on using a faster prime lens.

Needed a versatile mid range lens that zooms so I would not have to change lenses for every day use. It is a great go to lens that will capture excellent photos. It is made for the "FX" format, but works perfectly with "DX" as well. I own a DX camera, but hope to upgrade to an FX camera and wanted a lens that would work for both.

I NEEDED ANOTHER ZOOM FOR MY SECOND AND OLDER CAMERA, THE D7100. I ALREADY HAD THE NIKON 24-120 F4, ON D7200, BUT DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY AGAIN. SO I TOOK A GAMBLE WITH THIS LENS, AND YOU KNOW WHAT, ITS REALLY PRETTY GOOD. IT'S MUCH LIGHTER THAN THE 24-120MM, WHICH IS NICE AND FROM WHAT I CAN SEE ITS SHARP IN CENTER FRAME, ESPECIALLY STOPPING DOWN TO F8. CORNERS SEEM SHARP ON THE LENS I GOT..BUT THAT COULD VARY FROM LENS TO LENS

Great value as a kit lens for full frame cameras like D600/D610, with very useful zoom range as walkabout, general use lens and quite decent image quality. Not in the realm of a 24-70, of course, and you shouldn't expect that at 30% of the price. Also relatively slow at apertures available, so stick to strong lighting. Light, which is good... but feels not terribly robust, which is less good. Mine worked fine in moderate usage. Probably nicely useful on crop (DX) cameras with 36-130 equivalent zoom, but I haven't personally tried that.

Crystal Clear Images without the Prime Price Tag

I love my 18-200mm, but wanted something that could take sharper portrait and up-close (within 30 feet) pictures reliably. Nothing wrong with the 18-200mm-- it is my "go-to lens" for a lot of stuff-- but image quality is something one can become increasingly picky about.
This lens has a learning curve, so try it out. Take 100 pictures and then another 200 if you need to. It is often sold in a bundle with the full-frame D610, but a kit lens it is not. Remember to exhale and hold before clicking the shutter-- hold perfectly still... you don't have to in order to take a good shot, but you really should in order to make it a great picture.
I haven't even got the bill yet for this lens, and I'm already sold-- this one is a keeper!

I got this as my backup for the same lens and have since used it extensively. It has a very good range, great sharpness and color. While it is not technically the 'best' lens in my quiver, it is the one that has been used for most of my favorite pictures, so I do consider it my best. I just wish it could go down to f2.8 as this price. That will be wonderful for All Nikon users.

Was looking for a lens to pair up with my newly purchased Nikon D750. This fit my price range & after reading reviews, decided to buy it. Good choice. Took some great portraits of a friend. Also, I was pleased with some pictures I took at a night outside concert.

The lens has very good results on a D300s and excellent results on a D7000. While it isn't the sharpest offering available for full-frame, it's the most economical, making it the go-to option for someone wanting to get a full-frame lens without paying the premium price for a professional lens.

I use the lens on a Nikon D90 and the images are very good and sharp. The light responce is also very good and you can take nice images in average light without using the flash. The lens is sturdy and still utilizes the metal ring coupling to the camera. the new cheaper lenses have a plastic coupling that many reviewers complained that it breaks. I am realy surprized than Nikon that used to be an ikon of sturdiness started using plastic parts in such a sensitive area. as I said this lens still uses the good old metal ring.
Only negative about this lens is the slight bluryness in the zoom range: 24-35 mm. but it is common in this type of lens and in this price range unless you buy a much more expansive lens. over 35 milimeters, the lens is very sharp.
Zoom ring is a bit too stiff but it is better than being to loose and lens sliding out each time camera is pointing down.

Looking for a versatile lens for portraits and wide angle use, this is great. I’m mainly a portrait photographer but needed a lens for some real estate shots. This lens let me capture the wide angle shots for one job while being able to reuse the lens for portraits. Works well with the D850!

I use this lens nearly every day, outdoors for nature shots in the morning, informal portraits and event photography at night. Crystal clear images and fast auto-focus make this an excellent lens to own. It is my go to lens for sunrise shots and winter landscapes, extended to 85mm gives me a great tight shot when I need it. And close focus too.
