Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens's image quality and versatility, frequently praising its sharpness and ability to capture a wide range of shots. The lens's extensive focal length, covering wide-angle to telephoto, is also a significant plus, allowing for diverse photographic opportunities. However, some users find the lens somewhat heavy, and others have noted that the autofocus could be improved for speed and accuracy.

Awesome lens. Has a wide range of usage. The F/ stop is not bad for going from 28mm to 300mm. I gotten some really great photos so far and its a great prize as well compare to buying the 70 to 200mm lens. I would recommend for anyone that wants to be mobile and not carry too many lenses with you.

Great all purpose lens for when you leave home to walk around and you don't want to carry many lenses. But watch for the weight if you are going to have it hanging the whole day from your neck!

Nice lens takes good sharp photos. Good range from wide-angle to a decent telephoto. Saves changing lenses especially when there is a lot to photograph. My raw files didn't look all good for some reason but when converted to tiffs they were all nice and sharp.

I wish I would have gotten this lens when I bought my d600 camera. The photos are very sharp and it's nice to zoom in also. It's all in one lens.

This is a great all around lens. It works especially well if you want flexibility of a variety of shooting without changing out lenses. This lens stays on my camera most of the time. The only con for me is that it is heavy. While I use it mostly handheld, for lower light situations a tripod is needed to get sharp images.

When I sold my DX camera to move in to a full frame DSLR, I lost the use of my favorite lens - the Nikon 18-200 DX wide to tele zoom. With my new 28-300 FX lens I've found a new traveling buddy. While not quite and fast to focus as the 24-70 or 70-200 Nikon lenses, it makes a perfect grab and go lens for those days where you just never know what lens you'll need. I've missed several great shots hiking because I had the wrong lens on my D800. No more with this FX all around work horse.

I do primarily residential photography, but I wanted an all around versatile lens that would work for other applications. After all the positive reviews I purchased the 28-300 and it did a great job on my recent Canadian fishing trip.

I had the Tamron version and the sharpness was terrible so I traded it for this lens and have been happily surprised at the results. The moral is if you are in the market for an inexpensive lens this is a great choice.

Unless you are a professional and must have the "Holy Trinity" all you photography needs will be met with the lens. It runs heavy but it was lighter than my 24-120mm.

A wonderful lens for unplanned opportunities. It is slower than prims, yet with most modern full framers you can increase the ISO while taking advantage of its stability system. A good investment for versatility when needed.
