I bought this along with my first Nikon d7000 and I couldn't be happier with the quality of my photos. This is an ideal lens for taking those "bokkeh" photos that characterize many artistic photographs -- that is, the object will be in sharp focus while backgrounds are heavily blurred.

i feel like I can get a great portrait from this lense. I call it the nifty 50 lense. I took a photo of my nephew and it looks great!!! I cannot load a photo of him because it was taken with his camera with my lense and trust me it was great. Thank you Nikon thru the years with all my Nikon cameras in studio and environmental. Nikon is all I've ever used.

Fantastic lens, this is a mainstay in my kit when I'm out shooting. Wonderful at catching the light as it gets darker out. You can create bokeh in your shots that is very similar to shooting with a 1.4. Love this lens. Minimal lens distortion as well.

Good performance in low light conditions. Best value of Nikon’s prime lenses. Image stabilization would be nice. Keep in mind this is a light weight made in China lens.

This was the first lens I bought after learning photography with my kit lenses, and I still use it almost a year later. I have upgraded since, but this lens has taught me so much. It has a nice bokeh effect also. It's not super super sharp like other lenses, but when you are beginning you don't even notice.

The NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G is a great Prime Lens! I love the fast aperture, great background blur and low light quality. Ever since i picked this lens up it has not left my camera. For the price this lens should be in every photographers bag!

This lens is a fixed lens so if you are looking for one to get, this is the one! I l love it and its taken my pictures to a whole new level. It was recommended to me, and I am happy with the purchase. If you are new to photography, this is not for wide angle shots. Happy Shooting!

I've never owned a fixed/static lens, but knew I wanted one to get that "boket" effect they talk about. It does that and brings in a lot of light, too. After learning how to pick what focus setting you want, you'll learn how to get sharp pics that start to "blur" at the edges. 50mm means you will stand 3-6 feet away, but that's not a problem.
