Nifty 50!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great normal view / walk around lens. Price is great for the performance. Sharper in the center than its more expensive 50 1.4g cousin. Great for low light photography and shallow depth of field to isolate your subject from the background, also had great bokeh. Would definitely recommend this to anyone on the fence about buying this lens.

Definitely a MUST for any serious photographer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is truely a great lens, and a must for any serious photographer. Offers a nice "Standard" view of your scene, nice fast aperature at wide open (f1.8) and closes all the way down to f/22 (depending on the body and the amount of light, among other things). But nonetheless, makes a great portrait lens or general walk-around lens. Lightweight.

A must have lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 50mm lens is a must have for anyone beginners and semi pros alike. It does wonders for your photos and seeing as it's a prime lens (does not zoom) it really helps you learn to line up your shots. The photos are crystal clear, works awesome in low light and creates beautiful bokeh.

Excellent Lens!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of my favorite lenses (on my Nikon D750)! Super sharp, and great performance in low light! Not much new to say, that others haven't already, but itt creates excellent bokeh, Perfect as an everyday lens for landscapes, portraits, dim environments, astrophotography etc. I can't express how good of a bargain, this high quality lens is. Don't think about it, -just get it! You'll LOVE it!

A must
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Must purchase day one to replace stock lens. This is great for portraits with fast autofocus and amazing bokeh. Works well in low light and I hardly use flash anymore. Using with Nikon D3300 and autofocus works fine with this body. So impressed with the quality of this lens.

Great Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fast and quiet AF, very good low light performance, very sharp with good color and contrast. Lens has nice bokeh, much better than the 50mm 1.8D it replaces. This is a very good quality lens and a very good value at its price point compared to the 1.4G lens. I am using it on a Nikon D800.

Great Piece of Glass
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first prime lens I've purchased for my outdated Nikon d3000. So far it's out preformed any expectation I've had. Photos are sharper and more defined. The backgrounds are nicely blurred. Very easy to understand and use this lens. As a beginner, If I can get better shots with a 10 year old body, anyone can.

Great lens; professional looking photographs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is exactly the type of lens that I was looking for. It takes fabulous portraits - I just shot my friend's engagement pictures and they turned out great. The lens is great in low lighting, as advertised. It gives you a great blurred background as well. So happy with my purchase.

Must have lens for Nikon full frame cameras
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I knew when I bought the Nikon D 750 full frame camera that this would be a required lens. It did not disappoint. The f1.8 capability supports very sharp pictures in low light. Nikon makes an f 1.4 50 mm for much more money. This f1.8 50 mm lens is the sweet spot for performance and price.

Solid Nikon quality and performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nikon 50mm 1.8G focuses quickly, accurately and silently. Creamy bokeh. Lens is tack sharp and vignetting entirely goes away by f/ 2.8. I'm a pro photographer using this lens on a Nikon D800. Perfect lens if you need the 50mm view with the ability to have backgrounds go out of focus. Lens is very lightweight.

Great deal for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic price for this lens. Overall great lens for the money, especially when compared to over double the price for its big brother. While there are benefits to having the lower aperture for more money, this is worth it when getting familiar with whether a prime lens will work for what you need.

Pretty Good.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid lens- compatible with some Z series if you invest in a mount. Low aperture is great for portrait shots. Would recommend for anyone getting into photography. Prime lenses also often help you get shots you wouldn't normally, since you have to physically move to change your framing.

AMAZING!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price, this lens is absolutely amazing! It is sharp, fast, light, and cheap! When on sale, it is only $40 more than the older 1.8D version, but from reviews and forums, this lens out performs the 1.8D version, so I gave it a shot. I am not disappointed!

Great lens for the price that should be considered
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I love, love this lens. It’s a great buy for what it can do. I use it on my D7500, so the DX format for Nikon’s F Mount is even better because I get to use the very nice sweet spot of the glass. The DX format gives me a very nice 75mm lens for great portrait shooting. I think I need the 35mm next. LOL. Now, if you want the best, then you’ll need to fork out a bit over 2 times the cash for the 50mm f/1.4 lens. That is a much better lens for sure, but I feel this f/1.8 is a great buy for what it can do. It’s a bit lighter and it’s not weather sealed like some of the other really high end Nikon lenses that cost $1000+ to $2000+. I’m okay with that for what I get.

Great For Portriat Stills
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens is exactly what we needed to get great quality stills, indoor and out. The 50mm lens is great for low light areas where you don't want to use a flash. Also offer great depth of field bokeh with the 1.8 focal length.

Very happy at this price point.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens is very reasonably priced and does a fabulous job. I get great bokeh and I am able to take wonderful low light pictures. When I can afford to, I would like to get a 50mm f/1.4 lens. But, I'm more than happy with this lens.

Simple, yet Effective
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For any Nikon photographer starting out looking for lenses to buy, this one should be part of their lineup. The aperture of F 1.8 gives on the ability to get beautiful shots with the background blurred and the subject in crystal clear focus even in low light situations. It makes a great portrait lens and I only wish I could of had it for the portraiture class, it would have made my life a whole lot easier. Be sure you know the format of your camera thou, for anyone with a Nikon DX crop sensor DSLR this becomes a 75mm lens and for full length shots you do have to step back a bit to get the subject in the shot. Other than that, the lens is great, and I can't wait to get it's 35mm counterpart in the future!

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perhaps the best value lens in the world, the Nifty Fifty is a fantastic budget lens. It’s fast, great in low light, compact, and produces beautiful bokeh! Best of all it’s a cheap prime lens.
