Everyone needs a nifty fifty, its an inexpensive prime lens. Its the first prime lens in my kit. I use it with a Nikon D850 and works great in low light conditions. Used it to take candid portrait shots for our annual Christmas photo. The photos without the flash and natural lighting looked less harsh and natural. Most of the shots without the flash were more appealing and flattering to the subject and looked less staged. Very pleased with the results. Does not have the solid feel of the f2.8 short-zoom and long-zoom lenses, but the picture quality/cost ratio is outstanding.

Solid lens- compatible with some Z series if you invest in a mount. Low aperture is great for portrait shots. Would recommend for anyone getting into photography. Prime lenses also often help you get shots you wouldn't normally, since you have to physically move to change your framing.

There's nothing bad to say about this lens. It's great for beginner photographers looking to do portraits. It gives you creamy bokeh without compromising the quality of the photo. It's also good in low lighting situations.

This is truly a fantastic lens for the price point! Crisp, clear images with my Nikon D90, great bokeh and you really can't beat the quality you get at this price point.

First of all the size is amazing no heavy or bulky lens to carry around. I was skeptical at first being bound to a 50mm focal length until I learned to move closer to my subject or move the subject closer to me. The large aperture is great to use and very useful. Pictures are crisp with no blurr even with a longer shutter speed setting and no tripod. Crispness remains even with higher ISO settings and not much graineyness is noticed. A great price at Best Buy. Yes this is my first prime lens and look forward to my next prime lens purchase. Very pleased with this lens and you will be too.

i read that this is one of the entry level lenses that you can get most out of your buck. as my first prime lens, i really didnt expect that the pictures i took would be different from the standard lens that came with my kit (18-55mm), but the higher aperture really makes it all stand out. the narrow field of depth is something you really cant achieve with a standard lens. at first i thought that shooting at 50 would be really bothersome in tight spaces, but i felt as if ive become a better photographer because it forced me to selectively compose my image.

1.4 more affordable and better lens than the 1.8

Absolutely amazing lens and definitely worth the price. If you are deciding between the 1.8 and the more expensive 1.4, go with the affordable 1.8. Half the price and the quality of lens is very comparable. Also the focus time for the 1.8 is significantly faster than the 1.4

This was my first lens. This is pretty much the best lens for the money that you can buy when starting out. I still use this lens today. It is very sharp and super quick. The bokeh that it renders is really creamy. As with most nikon lenses, this is very well made and offers a really sharp picture. Initially you'll find yourself wanting to shoot at 1.8 during every shot. Really good for low light situations. Overall I can't recommend a better priced vs quality lens for beginners or even vets for that matter. I highly recommend this lens. Superb!

I bought this lens as I wanted to add to my equipment a nice portrait lens but that won't break my bank :-) The lens is very well build and an excellent size to carry anywhere. I used this in my trip to NC and GA and the results were amazing. Took me some time to get used to and control it but the aperture is amazing. If you want the blur background on portraits, this is for you. The price is also one of the best features as it makes this lens affordable compare to my other lenses over $1200. Good lens

I had always been told to get prime lenses if I wanted to improve my photography. I put off buying one for years but ultimately decided to go for this one. I had no idea what I was missing. The low light performance is great because of the wide f/1.8, as well as the shallow depth of field makes portraits look nice. This is a full frame lens, so if like me, you're using it on a DX sensor, be aware that the composition will be a 75mm equivalent on a FX camera.

Just as they said this is the nifty fifty lens. The portraits that I have taken have been some of my favorites. The blur of the background is soft and dreamy. This lens is and will be my favorite lens in my kit and I know for facts I will be obsessed with using this in all of my shoots. If you are on the fence about purchasing this lens I can assure you this will be a great investment and addition to you kits. They price is more than reasonable.

I bought the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm lens for our ad agency while our photographer was on vacation since we needed a quick solution for taking corporate headshots. A Best Buy rep showed me several options but said this lens would probably give me the "best bang for the buck" and he was so right. With this lens the last-minute photo shoot was a success, creating a crisp focus on the subjects while showing the background out of focus for a true portrait effect.

This is a great lens. At f1.8 Bokeh is unmatched at this price. Would recommend. I ended u purchasing a macro 2 lens kit also from best buy that came with a 35mm 1.8 and that work better for my style. You will not regret this purchase if your looking for a 50mm lens. Under priced and superior quality. As always Best Buy convenience and price match is also superb.
