This is my go-to lens when I need to know that whatever shot I take, it will be great. The sharpness, color, and overall finish is unbeatable. Durable construction, It does have some weight to it, and is a large lens, but the photos you are able to take are worth the heft.

I bought this lens as the third member of the Nikkor "Holy Trinity" in the zoom lens line up, including the 14-24mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, and 70-200mm f/2.8. This lens is by far the sharpest in the trio, with super fast focusing and beautiful bokeh. I first used it at an outdoor concert event in the summer, and was impressed by the reach and accurate focusing. This lens is heavy, especially mounted to the D4s. But, if you are looking for a 200mm zoom with superb fidelity and quality of build, this glass is your ticket.

I had wanted this lens for quite some time and now that I have it, it does not disappoint. Noticeably faster and smoother than the VRi. I couldn't be happier with it's performance, accurate focus, quick and quiet. A great lens.

This lens is the BEAST of all portrait and sports lens! It is a big investment but so worth it if you can afford it. You will not be disappointed. Crystal clear images with the VRII and the bokeh is beautiful! Use it with my senior portrait sessions, weddings and sports!

The cost is worth it. I can shoot an athlete 50 yards away and get a crisp cropped shot. I can shoot weddings and baptisms with a great look. Good lens!

THis lens is everything that I have heard about it. Has not let me down in every different shots that i have made. A little heavy in weight but solid. Does everything that I ask of it so far.. Very crisp all the way to the edges. So find out for yourself. You have to pay for quality... And when zooming it is internal so no worry about any water on the outside of your lens in a mist of weather. this lens do not zoom on the outside like cheaper lens....

This is an excellent lens. The lens is great in low light indoors sports events. I have been using the lens at my sons' winter track meets. The pictures I'm getting are excellent.

I am an amature photographer building skills and find this lens increasing my ability to get good long shots in lower light and capture sports activity with less chance of blurred motion. It is the biggest and heaviest lens I have used, which forced me to move to a shoulder harness attached to the lens. With that rig, I am comfortable carrying the camera and lens for several hours with intermittent shooting. Used with D750.

The 70-200mm can be a bit unwieldy and is quite hefty, but the results speak for themselves, VERY SHARP!

My Favorite Lens

I own many Nikon lenses, primes to zooms, and back, but this is by far my favorite, 70-200 is more versatile when out and about for portraits to tight shots, less so when indoors, but oh so sharp, no wonder this is a goto lens for so so many, i carry this and my nifty fifty, and leave teh 24mm, 85mm, 105mm at home!

I believe this is a must have lens for any nikon event or wedding photographer. The range and the quality of this lens is phenomenal. Before I had a 70-200 I convinced myself it wasn't necessary, to justify not having it. Now that I bought it I can't believe I ever shot an event without it. It is tack sharp and at 200mm the compression is amazing. I couldn't give this lens a higher score. Nikon produces great lenses and this is the definition of one. The price is a bit hefty but it is an investment that will last you your entire photography career.

I had heard so much about the quality images produced with this lens, I had to see for myself. And I was not disappointed! Beautiful, clear, well focused images that I have not seen with any other lens. My only issue is that it is heavy, which can be tiresome after a long day. But aside from that, you are gonna love it!

This is a sharp and durable lens but the weight does take some getting use to but that's what your paying for—a quality professional lens. It's the largest lens I've purchased so far and it does a great job when it comes to optics and light.

I listed after this lens and it's predecessor for years, owning a third party (Tamron) version because the price was just to high for me. With the Nikon rebates I decided to pull the trigger. I wish I had done it sooner, it's just that good. Where every other 70-200 2.8 fails, this one kills it. It really is one of those lenses that just makes you happy when you see the results. I'm having a hard time shooting with anything else now.
