Customers highly value the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Medium Telephoto Lens for its exceptional image quality and beautiful bokeh. The lens is also appreciated for its reasonable price, fast focus speed, and ideal focal length for portraits. Its relatively light weight is another positive aspect, while chromatic aberration is not a significant concern.

This lens was everything I hoped it would be. I’ve paired it with my D750. The first family shoot I did turned out amazing. Sharp lens with great colors. I instantly booked two more shoots from my first few photos without even trying! This lens will pay for itself! Best Buy had an excellent deal on it too!

Great lens with nice bokeh. I use it for indoor volleyball and it focuses fast even in low light. Razor sharp. Really don't miss the different between this and the f1.4 version because I shout full frame.

This is an awesome lens to start with on a full frame camera. It's not expensive, plus it's one of the sharpest lens on the market.

Love this lens. It is not the 1.4, but it is also 1/3 of the price. This is a full frame lens so on an APS-C it is somewhere around 120mm making it a good portrait lens for my needs.

This camera lens is my best friend for portraits. I do enjoy the N Series version of this lens as well, but this is the MUCH cheaper option and it does just as great a job. Will never get rid of this lens.

This lens is amazingly sharp while creating beautiful bokeh! I used to only shoot with my 35 mm 1.8 but since I've purchased the 85 mm, I've barely touched my 35!

Great lens! I have the 50mm and the 35mm but what I love about this lens is how I can be further away. I love this one for action shots of my dogs and also portrait pictures. It is a fast lens with really good quality pictures. I was on the fence about getting it but have really been falling in love with this lens. The 50 and 35 are great but this one allows me to be further from the subject and be able to get amazing photos!

I have a Nikon D500 and I use it generally for outdoor pictures, however, I also wanted to expand my camera capabilities for indoor portrait pictures mostly for my 3year old.The 16-80mm kit lens is excellent, but it does not generate good bokeh, so I tried 35mm, 50mm and 85mm lens on my D500 and the 85mm f1.8 was far better than 35mm and 50mm in terms of bokeh. The only thing to work around would be to manage the distance from the subject. But overall it is an excellent lens if you are looking for shooting portraits on your crop sensor camera.

Great Walk Around Lens for Nikon D5100

I did quite a lot of research on what my "main" lens for my Nikon D5100 would be. I already had the Tamron 70-300mm lens with image stabilization. This fills the bill nicely. It is well balanced on the D5100 body. Zoom from 16 to 85mm is 1/4 turn (which makes getting shots easy). Image quality has been very good, a definite step up over the 18-55 kit lens I bought the camera with. It has VR, ED Glass, and a metal camera mount. I think the durability will be good, but have not had the lens long enough to say for sure. The lens is pricy compared with other non-pro zooms that Nikon offers, but I think it is a good value.

My daughter is playing travel basketball and many of the gyms have poor lighting. The lens I had could not let in enough light to get any quality pictures. I purchased this lens and it looks like I’m a professional sports photographer. The photographs are crisp and clear and with the proper settings freezing the action is no problem. The only downside is that it’s a fix lens but that can be overcome by how you position yourself to take the shots. I would highly recommend this lens.

Camera does not need any focus adjustments with this lens. It's great for a bokeh effect while producing clear pictures. Worth the money spent.
