Customers are saying

Customers highly value the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Medium Telephoto Lens for its exceptional image quality and beautiful bokeh. The lens is also appreciated for its reasonable price, fast focus speed, and ideal focal length for portraits. Its relatively light weight is another positive aspect, while chromatic aberration is not a significant concern.

I already have 35 mm, 50 mm. I wanted to try 85 mm and this one is reasonably priced and when i tried it, it didn't disappoint me.

I was torn between this and the much more expensive 1.4 and chose the 1.8 mainly because of price. I'm not a professional photographer although I do shoot seriously, and this produces high quality images. It's decent in low light and the autofocus is fairly quick, and I even have decent results wide open. Some complain about the plastic construction which is a fair concern, but if you take care of things you'll have nothing to worry about! It's certainly worth the price and performs admirably.

The aperture of this lens is amazing. Great for outdoors. Just a warning, I bought to take pictures of my kids, but it’s too long for interior photos on a DX camera. You have to step back very far. Outside, though it’s a beauty! Light lens and beautiful bokeh. Happy shooting! Side note: I dropped my camera with this lens on and it held up pretty well considering it hit concrete. I had to fix the aperture clip...and good as new.

I highly recommend this lens for beginner Nikon dSLR users who own only the kit zoom lens that came with the camera. The lens is light and compact and produces very impressive results. I highly recommend the use of this lens for portrait, events and for landscape. This lens allows you to shoot at low light and/or to blur the background of the subject of the photo. This prime lens is a safe, affordable and way to see for yourself how good a prime lens can be as against the kit zoom lens.

I have this lens paired with my D850. Straight out of the box, it didn't pair well. Once I made micro adjustments, the pictures are overall sharp. No major issues with chromatic aberration. Overall, it's been worth the money.
