Wondering about it? Just get it! You'll love putting it onto the camera you shoot with every time. It works extremely well with my D850 and produces insanely sharp images.

It was long due that I added a new lens to my inventory and I decided to buy a macro lens. I have a Nikon D7000 and when I asked friends about the best lens for macro, almost all of them suggested this one. So I thought of taking the plunge. And what better place then Best Buy to get it !!!! In fact, all my electronics stuff from last two years is from Best Buy. They have a wide range of products, competitive pricing (with price-match), flexible return policy and awesome people working there !!! It works great and I dont need to write anything in praise for that. The only complaint I have is it costs 1000 bucks approx., but as they say, "Quality comes with a price" !!!!!

I have owned this lens for a few months now and it is one my favorite. It is advertised a macro lens, but don't be fooled this is an excellent portrait lens. At 105mm I can get really closed to the subject.

I've been using this as a macro lens mostly but it takes good portraits as well. The Autofocus hunts a little on the Nikon D800e but that could be user error.

Love this lens. I have several, and this one is a new staple. Perfect for those close up shots.

After my 24-70mm f2.8 and my 70-200mm f2.8, this is my most used lens outside of sports photography. It is the most versatile Nikon fit macro lens for most modern Nikon DSLRs. It is produces pleasing portraits, and though not nearly as fast or sharp as its 105mm f1.4 cousin, it is considerably cheaper and is a true 1:1 macro lens. I highly recommend this lens to beginners who want to explore macro photography, but still have a lens that can be used for more genwral photography.

The lens is spectacular sometime you need a little light but when you get a shot it is dead on and perfect. This is Nikon 2 Trick pony!

I was looking for a good lens for macro work and ran across the 105. It is also a great portrait lens. Now my favorite lens in my camera bag. Well worth the money.

Great lens for macro work ... Depth of Field is very shallow even at small stopped down, as can be expected of a macro.

One of the best macro lens for Nikon. Only downside is it’s heavy if you like to hike and carry a macro.

I had previously owned and used both the Micro Nikkor 40mm and the 80mm, and they are decent lenses, however neither has the quality nor the range of this lens.

Can't say to much more than everyone else that has reviewed this lens. Excellent sharpness just reveals things you never saw with the naked eye. Well worth the money.

I really like this lense, and I was planning to buy it since alont time. Finally I got it and am very happy with it. The price is abit expensive!

The Nikon 105mm "micro" lens is fantastic. It is sharp and clear using it as a 105mm prime lens and when using it close up as a macro lens, which is what I love to do. After quite a bit of research I purchased this lens for macro photography and I was not disappointed. It does take time to learn how to use a macro lens, but the rewards are awesome. It was expensive, but worth it. Hats off to Nikon for a great lens, I have not seen anything comparable to it on the market in any brand. My recommendation is to save and get this lens. You can recommend it next time.

This is a very crisp lens. It's great for getting some distance when shooting macro photography and also nice for tight portraits.

I have wanted to purchase this lens for a long time and I wasn't disappointed!! Handles beautifully, producing images shape as a tack.
