Bought in December of 17. It's August of 19 and the thing won't turn on. I've only used it 4 or 5 times in less than 2 years and for $300 I didn't get anywhere near my money's worth. I'll never buy Nikon or use best buy again.

My iPhone 7, while it couldn’t outperform as far as zoom, had far better picture quality than this camera. I returned. Just use your phone and don’t waste your money.

Bought for my daughter for Christmas. She took a total of 6 pictures and killed of a set of 4 "AA" batteries. Returned for a camera that has a single rechargeable battery.

The B500 uses 4AA batteries. The following battery types should be used: LR6/L40 alkaline, FR6/L91 lithium, EN-MH2 Rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. The Battery Type setting in the B500's Setup Menu should be adjusted to reflect the type of battery being used. If the Battery Type is not set correctly then the battery level reading may not be accurate. Please contact Nikon Support with any questions at 1-800-NikonUS. Nikon

The COOLPIX B500 is a compact digital camera, not a DSLR, or digital single lens reflex camera. The COOLPIX B500 is an ergonomically designed superzoom camera powered by AA batteries for added convenience. It features a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor alongside an impressive 40x optical zoom NIKKOR glass lens (up to 80x with Dynamic Fine Zoom) and hybrid VR to combat camera shake when shooting on-the-go. The COOLPIX B500 can also record full 1080p HD video and features a high resolution tilting 920k-dot 3-inch LCD screen that helps capture images at any angle. Users can easily upload their creations to social media via Nikon SnapBridge using any compatible smartphone or tablet.
