The name, the appearance and the simplicity are above reproach. I carry and use the Coolpix B500 much like the other necessities that travel with me daily. I have many cameras and have had SLRs with lenses from fish eye to 800 mm. They have had their purpose in the day but this is much more convenient and consolidated into my needs and desires.

I bought this Camera as Gift for My Grandson. He Loves it!! I have bought another Camera from Best Buy before, and my grandson had asked if he could have it? of course I said No, but then Purchased this latest camera for him, and I was Jealous. The camera is Beautiful, love how it Functions, and it is all Around Very Cool!!

I bought this just prior to going on a trip that I knew would involve great shots that I would cherish. I had read a few of the other reviews and was worried about the focus issues mentioned when zooming in and while I did have that issue once or twice I didn't find it to be a big problem. I loaded it with a 64 GB SD card so I would have a lot of room for pics; using the default resolution for pictures (I took over 1000!) barely put a dent in the storage...I only used just under 5 GB! The use of AA batteries was another reason I chose this camera - nothing sucks more than a rechargeable battery that dies on you and oftentimes "extra" batteries are expensive. The Duracell Ultras that came with the camera lasted for almost the entire trip, so about 1100 pictures including flash shots and short video snippets. The angled viewfinder was also useful for taking pictures over crowds and shots where it would have been awkward to kneel - I just angled the viewer up or down and was able to take perfectly framed shots. I was asked by someone "Why a purple camera?" and my response got a few head nods: "If the camera was stolen it would be that much easier to identify it!" How many people walk around with purple cameras these days? All in all I'm very happy with this camera!
