Great camera - I had the Coolpix 500 before this one. Needed a new camera, and went back for the Coolpix 530.

Nikon - Coolpix P530 16.1-Megapixel Digital Camera great Camera

Was looking for an entry-level pro-sumer type camera that would be used by many, some of whom are unfamiliar with cameras. Really wanted a camera with a viewfinder. This viewfinder, however, is almost unusable. Outside of that, the pictures have decent quality if you have the right light.

This is an excellent camera. It takes wonderful pictures!

Sometimes there is a long delay in certain situations.

Works good, looks great, but the AF isn't quite there... there are better....

Bought this for my niece who is interested in delving further into photography. I've reviewed several cameras and this seemed like a good starting point. Offers lots of options. Feeling confident I'm going to become her favorite aunt :)

Both, the macro and telephoto options work great for wildlife. The bad thing is that while recording video, the motor of the lenses are very noisy.

Great camera for the money. If I had to pick one thing to change about it would be the size. Other than that I love it.

I bought this camera to take on pro photo job at a music fair. The fair took place in a church where the lighting conditions were difficult. There was never enough light for easy photography. This camera performed like a champ. It took beautiful photos and were surprisingly sharp. The sensor operated flawlessly in low light conditions. The organizers of the event were ecstatic by the photos I had taken for them. I have read other reviews here for this camera and have been unable to reproduce the problems they have reported. I have take up to 400 shots with one battery charge. I don't know why others can only get 200. A number of reviewers have complained about soft focus. In good light I did not witness that at all. As the ISO increases the photos will become softer. It is noticeable at ISO 400 and very noticeable at ISO 800, but this is to be expected and is only noticeable on full sized photos. If your compact the photo to 50% it is almost undetectable. I don't understand people taking photos out of focus. If you use this camera's focus detection correctly this is not a problem. Whenever I used it correctly I got a perfectly focused photos. Those times I just winged it the results were less predictable. The only difficulty I experienced with this camera is that the autofocus does not function well at high zoom levels. It can't seem to lock on to anything out past 20x or so. The face detection is not good at high zoom. Other than that this is the best camera I have owned. I have taken most of my photos with Canon cameras and have been very happy with them. My last 3 cameras have been Canons. However, my primary camera was stolen in a burglary. I purchased a new Canon camera and was shocked by its mediocrity. I was very unhappy with it. When I got the job I went to Best Buy and spent some time comparing cameras. This one had all the features I wanted. Most especially was the excellent viewfinder which was how I was taught to take photos. I actively dislike the LCD screens so prevalent in today's cameras. I broke one of my own rules when I bought this camera. I have always told people, "If you pick up the camera and it doesn't feel comfortable in your hand, don't but it. You will never like that camera." Well, after owning nothing but Canon cameras the Nikon grip did indeed feel uncomfortable in my hands, Now that I've used it for some time it still feels odd, but I will learn to like it because it takes such great photos and in the end that's all that counts.
