Excellent Camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After I worked with an expert at Best Buy I was able to determine how to work it and use the camera. There are so many functions that I look forward to continuing to find better uses each time I use it.

Excellent camera!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is an excellent camera and very durable! Great in snow, temps at -10º F, light rain and the heat. Plus it does a great job with landscapes. As a D500 owner for a year and a half I highly recommend the camera!

Prof quality for avg photographers
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for someone who wants all the features of a d5 but doesn’t want to spend the $ on one. It would also be a nice camera for professionals as a backup. Love this camera!

Speed = wow
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This camera is a speed demon. Pretty much all the guts of a D5 for a fraction of the cost. Be aware that it is a crop sensor and not full frame. Overall this camera is my go to camera for action photography.

Epic cam
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the app to phone after you shoot it’s there. The cam has so many options but my fav is the custom buttons you can make for your own settings. Best option for sure

Fast and easy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it to photograph wildlife. I put a 200-500mm lens on it-in the dx format it is equivalent to 350-750mm lens. I am very happy with the reach.

The best APS-C DSLR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My passion for photography fades in and out through the years, and recently it has been reignited primarily to capture as many moments for my 2 and 4 year olds as I can. I have gone through a Sony a6000, and Olympus OM-D E-M10 mark ii, and more recently a Nikon D7200. Sorry to say the mirrorless ones couldn't keep up with my needs and failed me either in low light or focus tracking. The D7200 was great while it worked, but about a month after purchase it had a shutter malfunction and I decided to return it while I still could. Enter the D500... I actually almost gave up on Nikon. I was trying to find every reason to pick up a Canon since I still wasn't invested in any system, but on paper nothing came close to Nikon. Then it was the DX vs FX debate...I was SO close to getting the D750 since the price point is similar. However, in the end as much as I would have liked a full frame, the D500 won for a few reasons: I'm fine with DX format, and while FX would have been less of a gamble in low light, the D500 has a silly ISO range and actually delivers. Next, and probably my biggest concern right now, the D500 should be near future-proof. Lots of new Nikon tech made an appearance on this bad boy: New sensor, chip, autofocus, tilt and touch screen, 4k, Snapbridge, etc.... .I don't think I will be itching to pick up another body since everything on here should last a few years without feeling outdated ( I feel the D750 already is). As a matter of fact, the D7500 was just announced and I'm still glad I picked up the D500. A final factor for me was the pro/semi-pro body. This thing is a beast, and seems to be much better built than the D7200. The grip feels significantly better, performance is more than I could ask for, and overall I don't think many cameras out there can touch this (for me). The D500 has been excellent and I have really USED it in the few weeks I've had it. Low light performance is amazing, 10fps speaks for itself, and the autofocus takes everything my kids can throw at it. Lack of a pop-up flash is not a con for me as it does great without it, and when you have a camera like this you probably should have an external unit anyway. Battery life can drain quickly if you have it set to keep sending every photo you take to your phone, so you will need to keep that in mind (Airplane mode). The only thing I will say is that you should be comfortable with the fundamentals of photography before picking this up. I don't feel this is very suitable to most beginners. There is no "auto" mode, or Scene settings...you get M, A, S, P and that's it. I guess you could keep it set to P, but in that case you are really wasting your money. It is highly customizable, with tons of features and lots of programmable settings and buttons, which is all a true waste if you are just using it for point and shoot. Otherwise, I think the D500 will bring a pleasant surprise to most people that pick it up. Regarding the price, that is of course a matter of perspective. Was it worth it for me? Definitely!
