This is my first DSLR camera after upgrading from a point and shoot and I must say it has been fantastic as I can express my artistic inclination through my captures. I've have captured a lot of wildlife photos and they come up very beautiful. And with the included 55-300mm Nikon lens I was able to shoot gorgeous photos of birds. I highly recommend Nikon D5500 for a beginner DLSR camera. I has cool features like WIFI enablitiy and touch screen menus. I would purchase another Nikon on my next adventure.

Used it for the first time to take pictures at a wedding. It worked very well. I took over 200 pictures and the battery still read full charge. The built in flash worked very well for me.
I also tried the camera out on fireworks and it worked very well there also. The low light capability is great. All my pictures were taken in automatic mode, so the camera is capable of much more than I have tried so far. I am very satisfied with it's performance so far.

So far I love this camera. I am just starting to get into DSLR photography and I have found this camera very easy to use (the touchscreen definitely helps). The image quality is superb and the zoom is great thanks the the 18-140mm lens. The articulating touchscreen is nice and it makes it easy to change settings, view photos, and take photos at a tough angle.
The only things that i don't like about the camera are there is no second dial and the auto-focus is a bit slow. When I take burst photos most of the photos are blurry.

I recently purchased this camera (Cyber Monday in July, $550 off reg price) to take on a trip to Glacier National Park in Montana. I've been reading reviews and waiting for it to go on sale since this model came out earlier this year. This camera is very user-friendly and easy to carry for someone with small hands. The picture quality is outstanding and the Wi-Fi transfer of pics to iPad or smart phone is so convenient; no more lugging my laptop on trips!
I found myself taking pictures outside the car window as we drove; picture quality was still excellent! I have a Tokina MF 100-400mm lens I used with this camera for zoom shots. Even though it's manual focus and no VR, the picture quality was still fabulous! I highly recommend this camera with the 18 to 140mm lens.

My early review is that this is a great camera loaded with useful features. I love the wi-fi capability and the touch screen. It will take me awhile to master all the features this camera has. Picture quality is outstanding,

I ordered this body and lens kit online and despite the worst packing job ever (Best Buy didn't seem to think that an expensive DSLR warranted careful packaging, so the half empty box arrived looking like a closed accordion), the camera survived. And what a beauty. It was a tossup between this D5500 and the D5300, and I opted for the touch screen and no GPS, and am glad I did. The camera is versatile, comfortable to carry and use (with a deep grip), and the 18-140 kit lens covers a wide range of shooting conditions, so it was a good start to my lens collection.

Surely it's one of the best DSLR bundle available. My friend is a professional photographer, and uses one of these to capture moments. Glad that I chose it as my first DSLR, as it's awesome with respect to build quality, output photos as well as ease of use. 18-140 lens is useful and saves precious time you would otherwise spend in changing lens.

I can't say enough great things about this camera! The photos are stunning and detailed!
I'm very impressed with the vari-angle LCD touchscreen. It has a large high resolution 3.2 inch screen that enables you to see all the details of your photos with ease. The touchscreen is super easy to use, similar to using a smartphone, where you tap, pinch, stretch and swipe the screen.
The D5500 is very lightweight, weighing just 14.9 ounces. So much more comfortable and easy to carry on long sightseeing adventures than my previous Nikon D3100.

Having a great time learning what the Nikon D5500 is capable of. I've captured some great shots already. I enjoy the touch screen option and wifi access - it makes sending photos to my phone super easy. Instagram gets to keep up with my photos in real time! I'm glad I chose the 18-140 mm lens as well as it gives me the option to zoom in if I need to... and I've found that I have. Again, I highly recommend this camera for beginners.

I used to own the Nikon D 5100, I wanted to upgrade and make the most out of the features and I recently purchased a Nikon D5500 with the 18-140mm lens. . .
It is one of the best investments I have made.
Also purchasing through Best Buy was a breeze highly recommended

As advertised, the touch screen feature is a great improvement to easily view photos, adjust settings and event shoot photos.
18-140 lens is a bit larger than I'd like for this body, but a very useful "all-time" lens.
