Still getting to learn all the bells and whistles, but I love what I've seen so far. I'm taking some really good pics and the camera is easy to use and fun! Only (very minor) con in the number of steps to get to WiFi settings to connect my phone or iPad...a little tedious. And this connects to my iPad much better than my Galaxy S4. I also had great customer service in the Roseville Best Buy. I went in with some price matching challenges and the accommodated me very nicely! just one note...do not buy the 'generic' replacement battery for this camera - they do not work. If you need an extra battery you have to get the Nikon brand. I tried 2 of BB's generics and neither worked.

I purchased the D5500 as an upgrade from my D80. I must say I could not be happier with my purchase. The camera takes amazing low light pictures enjoy going to the aquarium and taking pictures of the jelly fish in their dark enclosures. This camera will have you feeling like a pro in no time. Incredibly easy to set manual controls for aperture, speed, and ISO using the touch screen. I really like the wifi feature as I can connect to the camera from my iPhone and download the pictures straight to my phone to immediately share with friends and post on social media. The accompanying picture was taken on auto focus with no prep literally saw my friend last second when he was right I front of me and the camera was able to capture everything in focus.

I bought this camera with very little experience taking photographs. I left for a two week safari. After a day or so of practice I began to notice that the camera delivered absolutely amazing photos. As I became even more comfortable with the settings and changing the lenses, the breadth of what I was able to achieve with this camera was amazing. I returned with 2500 amazing photos of my trip and can't wait to put the amazing images together. With a little effort the camera is easy to use, it has autofocus, automatic settings and also allows you to begin to explore manual settings as you become more comfortable. As an added benefit, you can use wifi to download the pictures to your cellphone with ease.

This is, no joke, a superb camera for a mid level photographer. It has up to date sensor and processor, and can take pictures equal to the finest DSLR cameras out there. I love the tiltable screen that allows me to take pictures from angles high and low, that I couldn't get with a fixed screen camera. And I love that it comes with very usable kit lenses, but can also be used with high end lenses for even better results, if and when a photographer is ready to take that plunge. As an APS-C camera it has greater depth of field than the larger full frame cameras...meaning that in every day picture taking your photos are more likely to be in focus. The image I included demonstrates the superior color and dynamic range of the camera. It was taken with the kit lens.

I held off upgrading from my venerable D200 for a long time, especially as you cannot buy a new camera any longer that doesn't come with video and a gaggle of extra features, but finally gave in with this model. It retains the Nikon quality I'm used to since my first original FM way back when, and works fine with my glass. One feature that threw me a curve is that you can tap the right side of the touch screen to toggle a feature of your choosing on and off while your eye is at the viewfinder. That's fine for those shooters who are right eye dominant, but for those left eye dominant, and are wondering why the grid keeps going off on its own, it's your nose. Luckily, this feature can be disabled in the menu settings. The camera produces fine photos for me in Aperture Priority mode, which has always been my preferred way to work. I haven't tried the automated scene options, but I'd expect they'd be fine as well. No regrets on this camera at all, now that I've had a chance to work with it.

I have always enjoyed seeing professional photography. When I found the D5500, I was worried that it would be too technically advanced for me to learn everything it had to offer. Reading the manual and watching online videos really helped! I've learned that it's all about the lenses and the camera body that you choose is not what you should focus on. I chose this body style because I liked the flip/swivel screen for harder angle shots!

Let me start off by saying, this camera is great in all aspects. Yes it's a entry level but all functions are easy to understand and quick to get too. The touch screen display comes in handy so much! I hope Nikon will start incorporating it in all their series! Overall if you're looking for a great DSLR camera you can't go wrong with this D5500 ! In addition if you have any questions about it the Best buy employees are knowledgeable.

I really like the Nikon 5500. It is the perfect camera for getting started in digital photography because it is easy to use, and can handle more advanced photography as well. I took my first night time photos and they turned out great.

The flip screen in live view is excellent for shooting low and awkward angles. The wifi function is extremely reliable and easy to use. I really like the touch screen. It makes it easy to program your settings. With a high quality NIKKOR lens you'll get beautiful, sharp images. It's an awesome camera!

I know there are many more Nikons that cost much more money but this one should fill the needs of a semi pro. Features like the articulated rear viewing screen is not found on many of the advanced cameras. WI-FI is a nice feature but I thought it also had GPS which I miss. As a pro many years ago and now an amateur this is top of the line for me!

I've had Canon 35mm before and decided on this Nikon for a digital camera. The D5500 has a lot of features and takes great pictures. The best feature for me is built-in Wifi. It allows you to transfer pics but also works as a remote control. We had a nest of baby birds outside a window. I set the camera up on a tripod, left the room and was able to observe the birds undisturbed.

I brought this camera to take with me on my safari vacation. It was awesone, it was light and easy to handle. The only downfall I have seen with it is it does not take good pictures at night unless you have the flash on. But on the safari you cant use flash at night as it distracts the animals. I tried reading the manual but nothing else worked unless there is a way and I just didnt figure it out, i am new to photography.

I love this camera! It takes great pictures in both the manual and automatic modes. I bought a 55-300mm lens also. I am able to do all the adjustments I need to. I have taken some city scrapes, several nighttime shots with long shutter speeds, wildlife shots, back lit shots and snow shots and they have all come out crisp. I did a lot of photography when digital was just a dream so there has been a little bit of a learning curve, but everything I can think of, it does. The wifi sync to my iPhone and iPad is stellar. Great buy. Great price. Photos taken with this camera.
