Great first DSLR camera to buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This DSLR camera takes awesome pictures and has a very easy interface when dealing with more advanced options. I like the fact that it is wifi enabled which makes posting pictures online a cinch. My only wish is that these cameras came bundled with the telescopic lens! ;)

Excellent Entry Level DSLR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to buy the Nikon D3300 but ran across this D5500 at Best Buy for the same price as a special after Christmas. I'm thrilled I bought the D5500! The camera is easy to use, takes great pictures and the built-in wi-fi makes transferring pictures a breeze.

Great Camera for High Quality Photos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Nikon D5500 Digital SLR as an upgrade to an older Nikon camera. I'm very impressed with the high quality images produced by this camera. The camera is easy to use and offers specialty features with the "Scene" mode and "Effects" mode. The "Auto" mode is a great starting point for capturing images. The camera is surprisingly light weight and offers a large viewing monitor. Using Nikon's WIFI app, you can transfer images to a smart phone. This is a handy feature to transfer photos without connecting to a PC. Overall, this is a great camera.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Camera - love the compact size and swivel LCD. Easy to learn and get started take photos, but also has all the features and options I could need as I gain more experience. Best bang for your buck - when compared to other existing Nikon models.

Great camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is really good. I think it does a better job than my Rebel 5 and 6ti. I love how compact is and easy to handle. My favorite thing is 1080p at 60 frames. Not a lot of people mention this but the battery life is amazing.

wow
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from the Nikon d5100 and am happy I did. I really like the touch screen, it makes changing camera settings easier. The wi-fi is nice for when you can't wait to share the picture you just took. But most of all it takes amazing pictures.

Loving it so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in need of a new DSLR and had no preference between the Canon and Nikon...until I saw the price difference between this and the comparable Canon. With a $500 discount, there was no doubt what my new purchase was going to be. I tried it out on vacation and it takes beautiful pictures and it's fairly easy to use, although I do need to crack open the users manual. In all, very happy so far and would definitely recommend this to most users.

A keeper
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to get this camera because of the touchscreen Vari-angle LCD display and built-in WiFi. Have had the camera for about two months...so far so good. Amazing pics! And, the touchscreen LCD is definitely nice to have!

Great camera, easy to use with great results
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this camera while on bicycle rides, it fits easily in my rear pack and can be worn across my chest, so you are ready to shot. Size weight are great for on the go and the lens is very sharp. Battery life is great. Live view is not as smooth as I would like, in fact it is most disappointing feature of the camera. Trying to get the focus where you want with it is not an easy process. Overall I really like the camera.

Good entry level DSLR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first DSLR. I have borrowed & used others over the years and I am happy with this purchase. Overall the camera is easy to use in auto mode and manual modes. It has a large display panel that rotates freely. It also captures video. I rate this 4 stars and not 5 stars because of the lack of intuitiveness in the menus. I had difficulty figuring out the bulb mode and changing it back. I know as I get more familiar with the menus this won't happen as often. Also, I had some difficulty finding the setting that was preventing me from going into full manual mode (as I had changed a setting in "scene " mode) I eventually was able to disable it and have full control using the manual settings. I tried to "reset" the camera yet it maintained this mode. The user will have to take the time to become fully familiar with the different modes. That being said, as I am developing more familiarity with the menu folder structure the easier it is to take excellent pictures.

Fantastic camera and pictures
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera met all of my needs. It is much lighter weight than my more advanced Nikon and is producing much higher quality pictures. Really glad that I purchased this one.

Love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both Nikon and Canon Cameras and though I wanted the D500, this was more suited to my immediate need. I've done some research but mostly I just love the 5000 series camera and decided to get this for now after a wave took out my 5100 during a beach shoot. I love the camera; phone sync, touch screen, easy to use, more bracketing options for HDR. For the money you can't really beat this camera.

Fantastic consumer DSLR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this camera. Good size for regular use. Not too heavy or large. Great photos. Touch screen is very nice. I recommend a 18-300 nikon lens if you want the ultimate set up.

Great Camera from Beginner to Intermediate
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Nikon owner for the last 16 years, and have yet to have any issues with their cameras. The D5500 is an excellent camera for anyone that is getting into photography, or someone like me that uses it as a hobby. This is a great camera in almost any situation. (My only side-note, if you are taking pictures in low lighting indoor situations, you may want to invest in an external flash....it's all based on preference and what end result you want to achieve.) This is my go to camera for all situations and the pictures turn out amazing. Battery life seems to be above average, even when snapping some videos in between pictures. The amount of features on this camera are extensive, but not overwhelming if someone is new to photography.

Great Camera!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Best Buy to purchase something else, 'television.' I ended up purchasing this awesome camera. Best Buy had an (Awesome Price) on this camera. This wasn't advertised online, however just inside the Best Buy Store. I just happen to be looking in the camera section and I found this camera. I had the D5100 and I decided to upgrade to this camera. It's a huge difference between the two camera's. Taking pictures with this camera is 100% amazing. I take pictures of school sports activities inside and outside and this camera will blow you away with the quality of amazing photo's.
