Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the D7100 DSLR Camera's superior image quality and ease of use. Many appreciate its extensive features and competitive price point, while some note limitations in buffer size and the lack of built-in Wi-Fi. Positive feedback also highlights its strong low-light performance and responsive autofocus system. The camera's lightweight design is another frequently cited advantage.

Excellent Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as an upgrade to a Nikon D7000, and don't regret it at all. It is an iterative upgrade and the changes are overwhelming. However, I appreciate the increased usability versus the D7000, such as the improved focus module and weatherproofing. The AA filter has been removed to increase sharpness, over and above the increased resolution of the 24MP sensor. The addition of the new 1.3x crop mode is a boon for sports and action photographers, although you're still limited by the small buffer. Muscle memory has me pushing the Info button, rather then the "i" button on the back, but you adapt over time. Video functions have improved, although similarly priced Canons have better feature sets. I would recommend this to those experienced with using DSLRs and other advanced mirrorless cameras. It's not for the beginner, although you can certainly "grow" into it.

The best crop sensor body to date
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having used a D300s, D5100, D5200, D7000 and a 70D and 7D from Canon, this by far is the zippiest, best crop sensor body to date. No AA filter makes the pictures pop that little bit extra, and the 51 point AF system lifted from the D4 acquires focus in any light. The in-body motor is one of the beefiest Nikon has in any body, similar to an F5, so even older AF lenses work perfectly. The one downside is that the buffer is on the small side, so bursts of RAW files are restricted at 6/7 FPS. If you only use JPG, you'll never, ever run into this with a fast card. Do be aware, to really take advantage of this body, you need the very best lenses, fastest cards and good shooting discipline - this camera will expose weakness anywhere else if you look to closely. Kit lenses are soft on it, as the sensor out-resolves them.

Incredible camera!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spending a little over a year learning DSLR photography with the D3100, I wanted to up my game a bit, and this camera was my choice. More megapixels (better details and ability to produce larger prints), better picture quality, better low light performance, higher dynamic contrast and depth of color, weather sealing, larger viewfinder... it has it all. It's really a crop sensor in a pro body, and I know quite a few professional photographers that shoot with this camera almost exclusively. It does take a bit longer to learn the controls, etc., especially if you're used to one of the lesser models, but the total amount of control this camera gives you is second to none in it's price range. Once you learn the controls, though, it's amazing. No more menu searching, this puts everything at your fingertips!! It's not a point and click, though, so if that's what you want, save your money. If you're looking for something to grow into and set a standard, BUY IT!

Upgraded from D7000 and what a great choice!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive owned a D7000 for about two years and when the new D71000 launched i read all the good reviews and they all are correct. This camera is amazing during the day , at night taking pictures and videos ! I bought the body only and bought 17-55mm 2.8 DX lens and let me tell you something BEST INVESTMENT EVERY! crystal clear and sharp pictures and at night! D7100 and the 17-55mm lens are a perfect couple. so buy the body only and upgrade to a better lens then what they offer in the packages. D7100 has a lot of setting but you dont need to be a pro to know them all. the main common settings like ISO / aperture / shutter speed are very easy to access and you will learn more and more the more you use it :) The build on the camera is like a tank. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED !

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading the reviews here, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to the D7100. I am certainly glad I did. As many have previously commented, the pictures are tack sharp. The color renditions are very accurate, also. I would say to anyone still considering this camera just buy it. You will not regret it at all. Just be sure you take the time to setup the camera the way you prefer it before you rush out and start taking pictures. I upgraded from the D7000, which is a great camera in its own right. This one blows it away in all aspects from low light shots to portraits or landscapes and everything in between. It is a little bit lighter than the D7000 and it feels great in my hands. I have not used the video yet so I can't comment on that part. The 1.3x crop is more useful than I expected. It is wonderful for sports shots for the extra length it provides on your lenses. That means my 18-200mm lens is about equal to 390mm when zooming in. Again, the pictures in this mode are very good and this is where you can get 7 shots in burst mode. I noticed no lag time in the shots I took testing this feature, although I did only take about 40 shots while testing it out. Again, all I can say is "WoW!"

4 yrs since introduct and still a great camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will try to keep this short and sweet. The D7100 was introduced in 2013, at the time it was considered a top of the line Nikon APS-C sensor camera and had an MSRP of around $1200 for the body alone. Four years later at half the price when it was a new model it is still a great APS-C camera. I use D700 camera bodies at work so it was easy to spot what it could not do compered to a full frame sensor body, the list is pretty short. I will agree with a previous reviewer, if you can help it do not go cheap on the lenses or memory cards. You don't have to buy the best top of line stuff but don't rush headlong to the least expensive lenses or memory cards if you want to experience all this camera is capable of producing in image quality. The video experience with a D7100 is nice but remember four years ago video was just becoming a "gotta have it" feature. This camera absolutely shines as a still photo camera, is "ok" as a video camera. Add a battery grip and have yourself an amazing tool. The RAW buffer can be a nuisance however high speed memory cards will minimize that issue. And if you shoot JPGs you may never bump up against the buffer limit. Looking for a jump up from your trusty D70s? This is it. At a great price. While they last.

Great Camera with a Few Surpirises
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nikon D7000 was my first modern Nikon, and I was so impressed by the camera's abilities that I sold my entire collection of Canon equipment without any hesitation. I am not going to repeat all the accolades that you've no doubt already read about which make the D7100 a very solid performer. Here are just a few negative aspects of the D7100 that I did not expect. 1) I grew up using solid metal cameras, today they're called antiques, but in my opinion there is something about the Multi-Selector on the rear of the D7100 that makes it feel much cheaper than the D7000. 2) Light Room 4.4 tethered capture works quite well with the D7000, however surprise surprise surprise; the D7100 is not supported. 3) The last unexpected fact, I think you need to be aware of, is that the USB cable is not the same for the two cameras. The D7000 uses part number UC-E4 and the D7100 is supplied with UC-E6. They are not interchangeable. To be honest none of these would have changed my decision, but I had read every review that I could find on the internet and yet I was still surprised by these unexpected facts.

I Am going to have a lot of fun with this Camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is what the Nikon D7000 should have been, but it is not, so no big deal! I Love that this has a 51 fAF Pionts System, and for the first eve on a Nikon DSLR, a Detection range of -2, for even better low light photography then the D7000 was, what was a -1. Some may think that 39 to 51 AF points will not make a big difference and is Marginal. Well, it is marginal, albeit small, 12 AF points more. The difference is, how much faster it will focus vs. the D7000. If you are a bird lover like me, and do bird photography, then and only then will you appreciate the 51 AF points better cause as arattic as birds are and get spooked often, then and only then will you see how 12 extra AF points come in handy. I also like that ALL of the orinal Bracketing modes (such as AE Bracketing , Flash Bracketing, and so on) have approve upon, from the 2-3 on the D7000 to 2-5 on the D7100, and I am not sure about the HDR feature

Just what I was looking for!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this camera in hopes of taking my photography further and I think I made the right choice! The picture quality is fantastic, and the different setting options are limitless! This camera is an upgrade from my D5100, so I am familiar with Nikon cameras (all I've ever owned) but I still find myself taking a while to adjust to all the different settings. What I have been doing is going through the manual with camera in hand so I can read how to do something then immediately do it which I would recommend for those not familiar with cameras like this. I love the video options including audio adjustment as well. The "feel" of the camera is very comfortable, I can still use my own DX lenses with it and I am just overall happy with my purchase. It's a lot of money but I feel like I got a PRO camera for a good price. Worth every dollar!

Great Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera to replace a D90 which I have had for 5 years. This camera is definitely a huge step up from my previous camera. I am still learning all the bells and whistles that this camera has, but I really like the new features it has over my old camera. It seems to be a lot faster in both focusing and number of pictures it can take sequentially, plus has a bunch of special effects built into the camera. And the video capture is a huge improvement.

Great DSLR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a D80 and have things changed in a good way. I like the ability to have two SD cards with the option of extra capacity or a simple back up of images; like that some of my older Nikkor lenses are compatible with the D7100; My D80 "program" knob would slip, the D7100 has a "locking" mechanism that keeps your selection in place. Overall, highly recommend this camera.
