Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the D7100 DSLR Camera's superior image quality and ease of use. Excellent upgrade from the D90

I have become a huge fan of the Nikon brand of cameras over the past several years. Before that time I had owned various other types of SLR and DSLR cameras including Canon, Minolta, Sony and each of those had their strong points and weak points. However when I purchased my Nikon D90 I found a camera which brought together all of the things that I loved about my previous cameras into one unit. There were only two downsides in that unit, a complex menu system to make adjustments and below par video. The D7100 has proved over the past several weeks to be a vast improvement over the D90. Picture quality, details and color reproduction are head and shoulders beyond the D90 in both the automatic modes and and the user controlled operations. On the user controlled side there are an enormous number of adjustments that can be controlled through the improved menu system or programmed into dedicated function buttons so that your favorite settings are just a button push away. The LCD screen gives you HD quality images in both still photo and video modes and video quality has also vastly improved. Using the internal retouch features there is a dizzying array of adjustments that can be made once you have recorded the image. A fifty-one point focus feature, dual SD memory card slots and several input / output connections round out the unit's improvements.

We went to Best Buy to look at cameras and ending up leaving without one. We did out research and found two cameras that we thought would be good to start a photography business. We picked neither of them because we found this camera and it is AMAZING! More for an intermediate-beginner but definitely worth the money!

Purchased this camera to upgrade from my D90 and it was a great choice. Photo quality is awesome, excellent colors, and simply to use. I would recommend anyone to snag this camera if they are upgrading from an older body or not ready for full frame yet.

This is my first DSLR that I bought with own money but I have used DSLR's before. Things compelled me to choose this model Fast, 51-point autofocus system. Dual SD card slots. Large pentaprism viewfinder. Excellent control layout. Preserves details at high ISO settings. Shoots at 6fps. 1.3x crop mode available. Very fast startup. Sensor design omits optical low-pass filter. Few things did put me off though. you cannot sync with PC directly. Burst rates could have been more.

I love the challenge of learning how to use complex cameras and becoming a better photographer in the process. So far this camera fills and surpasses all the short comings that I felt were in my D7000. It seems that photos in dim light are much better now since I take a lot of pictures at Sunset and later. Auto focus seems better -a little faster and more precise resulting in clearer pictures.

I wanted to upgrade from my Nikon 3000 to a more advanced and professional DSLR camera without paying over a grand. This was an excellent purchase and the camera meets my expectations. The options are too many to list!

I have always loved photography and I actually bought this camera for my 14 year old daughter (who is very mature) and loves photograph as much as me. This camera is easily semi-pro quality but at the same time pretty easy to use. The picture quality is amazing and we couldn't be happier.

Awesome camera... if you have entry level Nikon and don't want to spend the money for a full-frame (FX) camera and/or if you lots of DX Nikon lens and dont want to buy new ones, get this camera. Basically, the D7100 is currently the best DX camera Nikon has to offer and its simply an awesome camera.

I owned a D5100 and while I loved the articulated LCD, I hated how many controls I use regularly are buried in menus. Simple things like ISO and White Balance are hidden. If you only take pictures in Auto mode this wouldn't be an issue, but I enjoy using a DSLR to maximize the camera's picture taking abilities. Enter the D7100. Other than not having an articulated LCD, there's simply nothing to not like. The ergonomics are fantastic. The controls are readily and easily found on the camera body. It takes fantastic low light shots (high ISO) as long as you have a fast enough lens and the 24 Megapixel sensor is capable of letting you crop minute parts of a picture with amazing clarity and you can print very large pictures without noise. If you're looking for a step up in your camera, I know you'll be extremely pleased with the D7100.

This is an outstanding camera for someone who wants to 'geek-out' with the features. I spent months researching, and trying several similar models (the closest competitor is the Cannon 70D). Ultimately it comes down to how easy it is to access the functions you want to use, and I felt this won out hands-down. I would choose the Cannon 70D if you want to do a lot of video thanks to it's more advanced live-view capabilities. Choose a mirrorless (compact systems) camera from Sony (NEX) if you want to shoot using the LCD screen rather than through the viewfinder. Choose a cheaper, smaller camera if you're not interested in playing with the ISO, exposure bracketing, long exposure, aperture, and other dorky settings that make it easier to ruin your photos, but also give you the chance to make them shine after you figure out how to work them! This is my first dSLR and I'm so happy with it!

I bought this as a back up camera and it has very quickly become my favorite. It's lighter than the D7000 which is helpful when you're adding a heavy lens and a grip. I found it easy to use because it's very similar to the D7000 which I've been using for 3 years now.

I have never had anything other than the point and shoot cameras. This is my first DSLR camera and I have been very impressed with the picture quality and relative ease of use. This camera takes great pictures using the pre-programmed user modes and scenes. My wife struggles with understanding some of the features - but with a little bit of effort anyone can learn how to utilize this camera's potential. Would recommend this camera to anyone looking to venture into this market. Worth the extra money. Great camera for someone looking to get into the DSLR world.

The camera pairs well with the an 18-200mm zoom lens. I have used it in all kinds of weather and different times of the day. I was simply amazed at the pictures I captured at night while holding the camera. The pictures were very clear even though I didn't use a tripod. I was hoping that the video feature would actively autofocus. Unfortunately, I have to press the shutter button to have the camera autofocus, which sometimes it had trouble focusing. With a high megapixel, you can capture about 587 RAW pictures or 2000 JPEG (high res) while using a 32GB SD card. I hope that info helps because it was one of the questions I had that no one was able to confidently answer. I have other types of cameras, but this is my first DSLR. Battery efficiency is pretty good. You can get about 1000 JPEGs and some short video captures (approx. 2 min) with a fully charge battery. And I would typically leave the camera on for the whole day. I found that I hardly needed to use the built-in flash, even at night. I wish it had an easier setting to force the flash during daytime. You will not be disappointed with this camera. I am so glad that I bought it. It is worth every penny.

I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded from a d3000. The d7100 does not disappoint! I know that there is still plenty for me to learn but I'm excited that I have such an intuitive camera to work with while not feeling super overwhelmed.
