If you want excellent pictures, don't buy point and shoot cameras. DSLR cameras are the best way to invest your $$$$. Great photo quality, solid performance and a sturdy body. It powers on, focuses and shoots in about 0.3 second, which is very good. The slow lag -- time to focus and shoot, about 0.5-0.6 seconds -- reflects the sluggish kit lens rather than the autofocus system. However, in Live View which uses contrast autofocus, it's still a slow 1.4 seconds in good light. If you shoot raw, you can regain quite a bit of detail (in exchange for just a moderate amount of grain), making it possible to get usable results up to ISO 25600, depending upon scene content and how you're displaying the photo. You access the popup flash/flash exposure-compensation button, the bracket button and the autofocus/manual focus control with your left thumb via the front left of the camera; by pressing the button on the focus-mode switch you can cycle through the different autofocus mode types and areas. In addition to AF-A, which is a variation on continuous auto that locks focus when you half-press the shutter button, there are 3 dynamic-area autofocus modes: 9-, 21- and 51-point. The back part of the Nikon has White balance, quality, and ISO sensitivity buttons (which double as playback controls) line the left side of the LCD, plus an i button, which calls up "frequently" used settings. Mostly they're settings that you probably need occasionally, but which aren't directly mapped to a button. Unfortunately, you can't remap these to settings that you might want to change frequently, such as multiple exposures or Wi-Fi activation. Options include the the usual manual, semimanual and automatic modes, an Effects mode with a handful of typical selections, and a couple of user settings slots. Beneath it is the release mode (drive modes) dial, which offers two continuous-shooting speeds, a quiet mode, self-timer and mirror lockup. On the right shoulder are the status display, metering mode and exposure compensation buttons, and a tiny, awkward-to-use movie record button. CON: Subpar wireless implementation and a fixed LCD display. Otherwise it's an awesome camera. The D7100 is a little older (2013) and cheaper if the D7200 is out of budget and you don't care.

I purchased this camera because I grew out of my old Nikon D5100 that I had previously owned. This camera is a great upgrade if you are looking to improve and extend your range of different types of photography. It is not the smallest or lightest camera that Nikon makes compared to the D3000's and D5000's but it really is a workhorse. Personally, I like using this camera for everything including: portraits, landscapes, sports, etc. People sometimes forget that it doesn't matter what equipment you have it matters how much experience you have. Yes, equipment can make for better images but if you don't know how to take great images first the equipment wont do that for you. As I said before I use my camera a ton and I love to travel with it. The battery life is excellent and the weight and grip depth is perfect in my opinion. The 51-point AF system is fast and accurate. The FPS of the camera is enough to get the job done for sports and wildlife photography. The built-in WiFi is great for transferring your pictures onto your phone in full resolution wherever you are and quickly share them on social media.

The Nikon D7200 is an amazing camera that will meet the needs of all photo taking enthusiasts and even professional photographers. This camera can take gorgeous photos in, both portrait and landscape, and allow for great long range shots due to its cropped sensor (given the proper lens) even in low light situations. Speaking of lenses, the kit lens included is a great, multipurpose all around lens. You have close range at 18mm and decent long range at 140mm, which with the Nikon crop sensor is actually about 28mm-224mm. The build is solid and feels amazing in hand, especially with Nikons signature textured finish. This camera was the leader in its class when it released and still holds a top ten spot in the best DSLR cameras money can buy.

I did a lot of research on this camera I waited a year for the price to fall. I found a great price online and BestBuy matched the price. They first sold me the one with only the body the next day I went in and they corrected with no problem. They did not have it in stock but had it shipped to my house for free. Now about the Camera its a great camera takes very good pictures. This is not for someone who just like to point and shoot, it has a lot of settings for different things. I am not a professional so I am still learning the camera. Took it on a cruise and got me some real good pics. There is no GPS on this camera wish it had one, it sucks bcoz I cannot remember which Island I took what pics. After I bought this I saw the P900 which has an incredible zoom and is way cheaper then this but after reading the reviews on that it had some issues with the pics. If you know how to use the settings this is great camera, if you are a beginner and want to learn I think there are cheaper cameras to learn with. if you are a professional or just have money to burn like I did get this one. Then figure out which lens you are going to buy to get better zoom then lens that comes with it.

Let me start by saying I am no photography expert. I've been snapping pics on my iPhone and uploading them to social media regularly getting positive feedback, and constant encouragement to seek out a future in photography. After years of contemplating whether or not to buy a DSLR I decided to get this one for my birthday. I've had it for about a week and cannot get enough of the great quality of pictures this camera takes. it's not the easiest thing to use, coming from basically a "point and shoot" now you're overwhelmed with options, but I'm certain that once I master all the settings and functions I will create art from the most basic abstract figures I come about. At the end of the day, this is probably the best birthday present ever!

I started out shooting on a Nikon D3300 at the beginning of this year. Photography is something I have grown to love. For me, I have big hands, the D3300 was just too small, and I quickly wanted a larger, heavier camera, with more features. I debated between this and the Nikon D750 full frame. Honestly my decision was made for me when the D750 sale ended and jumped the price back up almost $500. Even though this wasn't my first choice, I am so happy with my decision. The camera is large and heavy enough in my hands to feel like a "real" camera. The specs are amazing, and the photos produced are even better. I can see this being my go to camera for the next few years until I make the leap to a full frame.

I read tons of reviews, borrowed and tested lower-end models from friends, and all-around tried to convince myself to go with something a little bit cheaper. In the end, I decided to make an investment in what I know will be the only camera my family needs for the next 10 years. The simple point-and-shoot modes let you use it straight out of the box, while the plethora of options to explore and tinker with will let you learn to take more and more sophisticated shots. The images are incredibly crisp with a ton of information in the files (meaning you can crop and zoom in on them to a great degree without pixelation) and the video quality is superb. This camera is an amateur enthusiast's best friend and will make you feel like a pro.

I exchanged a D3400 I bought to get this camera after I found the 3400 to be missing features that my old D3100 had. Primarily the shutter remote for shooting night time. So far I'm very happy and excited to learn all the features of this camera. I've found some youtube videos that are very good for this specific camera. It will do things I would have never even known about so I highly recommend watching a few. So far I love this camera.

Being a beginner photographer I absolutely love this camera. It lets me take control of the photo but also offers some great options when I need a little more guidance. The photo quality is great, the battery lasts for a good amount of time too. I also love the WiFi transfer feature. Shown are some of my first pictures with this camera.

The Nikon D7200 body and 18-140mm Lens is a very nice DSLR kit. The image quality of the D7200 is a distinct step up from the Nikon D7000 while offering very similar ergonomics and handling. Easy learning curve with a few nice touches likely handed down from some of the more recent FX bodies. The 18-140mm zoom lens also looks to be a step up in IQ than the previous Nikkor 18-105mm standard DX zoom, plus it offers a metal mount with a weather resistant sealing.

I purchased this camera in a bundle pack with the 18-140mm lens. This is a great combo. For a APS-C camera this has a plethora of settings and features. The control over picture taking is amazing. There are so many in camera tweaks to help get your photos looking the way you want. Once you get used to navigating around the controls there's nothing you can't do with this camera. Build quality is excellent. It's durable and so far it appears to be very well constructed. I've been having non stop fun and getting good quality pictures with this camera.

So far I'm loving this camera and well worth the upgrade. My first SLR was a Nikon 3100 and had served it's purpose but was time for a new one. Was looking to upgrade the body but was hesitant to spend the money on a professional level body. This enthusiast level camera is perfect for what I use it for. Excellent quality and not too big or heavy. What I love the most is the 18-140 lens I got with it. No longer do I need to switch out in trying to get the perfect zoom. Still compact and light enough for me to carry wherever I go.

I used to shoot with a Minolta film slr years ago. I was resisting diving into the digital era but my nephew plays hockey and I was looking for the slr experience to capture the fast paced action. I also enjoy photographing wildlife and scenery. This camera fits the bill perfectly. The buffer size is large enough to allow for several shots in continuous shooting mode. It feels good in my hands and is comfortable to use. I'm very happy with this purchase and highly recommend.

I have always used Nikon Camera and bought 4 of them from Best Buy. I like the service that I get out of a Nikon Camera. And this one is seems to be better than the last one I bought. The features are easy to use. And I feel like editing is at a minimum. The 18-140 mm Len's Is also a great walk around Len's. Seem to be sharp an fast at focusing. And you can't beat a Best Buy Extend Warranty on one.

This was bought as an upgrade from the Nikon D3300 which is a great beginner camera. I felt I needed more control and ease of use as my photography skills are advancing. It has more controls and settings but it is actually easier to adjust the settings rather than harder. The 18-140mm lens is the perfect all purpose lens for me as it covers wide angle to medium telephoto as well as close focus. This is a great camera for a beginner or advanced photographer. I am sorry I didn't start with this one!

Great camera and lens. The owners manual is informative and easy to follow. Also, there are great photography tips from Nikon and Best Buy on the internet. I am an amateur photographer and I was quickly taking great pictures using the partial assist modes and even the full manual mode. It is easy to delete the mistakes with a digital camera. I have good portraits, close ups and action photos of my dogs running.

Great camera for many different applications. I believe that distant landscape mages not quite as sharp as with my Sony A6000, but close, though others may disagree. Where I have found this camera to shine most is on close ups. Was able to buy the Marrex MX-G20M MKII for around $65 which is an attachment for GPS tagging your shots. It works great - no need to spend a lot for Nikon's. Great all around camera.

coming from a Nikon D3000, this camera is extraordinary. As it stands for being a beginner, this camera is excellent to learn on. And even so, as an experienced user, coming from a lower level camera, it can easily out perform any of those models, and you can definitely get some better quality photos. If you work the camera properly, you can easily get pro level quality photos. Invest in some prime lenses too!

I'm not a camera guru and possibly like many others trying to either get a camera to have fun with or those trying to make their way into the photography world, I purchased this camera based on looks and of course the many things it has to offer at a great price. After months of continuous research and camera comparisons, I chose this camera (as a gift for my girlfriend) and she loved it.
