Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the exceptional camera quality, ease of use, and high resolution of the D850 DSLR. Many also praise its impressive low-light performance and long battery life, while noting its extensive features. However, some find the camera's weight and size to be substantial, and the price point relatively high. A learning curve is also mentioned by a few users.

Camera arrived in two days. Works perfectly. Finally upgraded to full frame from an intermediate camera. Definitely enjoying the quality of the images and functionality of this camera. Still learning as you do with everything new, but certainly not disappointed yet.

Great camera! It may be old but still takes great pictures. I prefer the DSLR over mirrorless as I have been taking pictures since the 80's. No doubt, mirrorless has great technology as I also own a Z7. It is nice to use all my F-mount glass without an adapter for Z7.

I have been using Nikon cameras for more than 20 years and this is the best I have ever owned. An amazing FX camera. Superb image quality. Focusing is fast and accurate and I have used all of the focusing modes. Great implementation of AF. When using the XQD card the buffer almost never fills even when I mash on the shutter release for an extended period. I have shots from this camera that I could not have gotten with my old Nikon. Battery life is great and I am glad that I can still use my old batteries (EN-EL 15). I should have bought this sooner.

I am a professional photographer. I have been looking at this camera since it came out. I have been shooting with Nikon cameras since the 80's and have been very impressed with Nikon line. I have also bought all versions of this camera. The D800, which was a huge improvement and was amazing with it's 36 megapixel images, then bought the D810 thinking that the D800 would be a secondary camera but when I got the 810 found that the pictures and colors were so much better it was hard to use the D800 as a secondary camera because the D810 was so much better. Then got this D850. I have not had the chance to really give it a work out yet but not surprising the D850 has so much mor features and seems to take better pictures in dark areas. Again did not have a chance to really give this camera a workout yet. But if you buy this camera you will not be disappointed. Plus I got it an amazing price the list price is normally 3000.00 got it on sale at Best Buy for 2499.00. By the way I was contemplating on going with the z9 mirrorless camera but if I did, I would have to change out all my remote triggers, flashes, TTL Phottix Indra 500 studio lights and lenses. I could use the studio lights but would lose the TTL features. If you are going to get the any of the Full Frame camera's you need to buy the professional grade lenses. The professional grade lenses are like night and day. You can use your older 2.8 professional lenses on the z9 but you will have to buy the adapter which makes the lenes much longer and heavier and eventually you will need to buy the larger mount lenses for the z9.

I have long been a Nikon camera fan and user. I had been using a D800 and decided it was finally time to upgrade once again. The reviews for the D850 were good, but the actual experience of using it - Fantastic. I can't believe how much they packed into this body - it is fast, it is crisp, it is astounding. Yes the price is on the painful side, but hands down this is the best camera I have ever used.

I waited 7 years for this camera. It replaced a D800. Talk about a difference. This camera is the real deal. For me, the best things about this camera are: 1. It very much improved autofocus system. It is so much faster and accurate than the D800. 2. The much improved low light ability. It allows me to shoot lower ISO in situations where I had to shoot higher ISO on the F800 causing me to have a lot more noise to deal with. 3. The much wider and better dynamic range. This translates into a much smoother image with less artifacts and noise. 4. The almost double the frame rate over my D800 on still photography. Since I do have the battery grip and EN-EL18 batteries, I ca nmaximize the speed and get the full 9fps from it. 5. The true silent shooting. This is a big thing for me. I shoot in some situations, where the smallest sound can create a missed and lost shot. Being able to shoot true silent allows me to get images if certain things i could not get before. It is also a dream to shoot in very quiet events where you shooting images of it should not be what holds the attention. If you have been on the fence about this cameras do yourself a favor and buy it. I chose not to buy the D810 because, for me, it wasnt enough of an upgrade over the D800. Others disagree on that, but it wasnt enough for me and that's why I patiently waited for the D810 replacement. It was worth the wait.

I pre-ordered early and lucky enough to get my D850 on the first shipment, Bestbuy even exceeded my expectations by shipping it on next day air. Wow! what can I say? This camera truly is a game changer with its well thought of improvements it blows away any competition out there. Who would have thought you can have portrait, landscape and sports camera all rolled into one. Nikon again set the bar too high it left the competition scratching their head on how to produce a camera that comes close to this!

I recently purchased the Nikon D850 as I am a photographer and it was time for a camera upgrade. I could not be more pleased with this camera. Not only is the quality of the photos beautiful, but it is very easy to use and similar to my old Nikon D800. I am glad I took the leap for my business and purchased this wonderful product. My photos and the quality of this product is unmatched. Extremely happy with my purchase

This camera is the best HD-SLR you will find on the market now. It feels and acts like my D500 but make no mistake, this camera with its 46MP will show any deficiency in your technique as camera blurr. This is the best of the best and well worth stepping up my game for. Once I slowed down and payed attention to technique I got fantastic results! Wow is the best word to describe this camera!

I waited almost a year for a D850 and my contact at Best Buy called as soon as they had one in stock - picked it up that afternoon! Amazing focus system and crazy resolution. Controls are positioned for ease of access when in high-paced shooting scenarios. Paired with my Nikon D750 it's a photojournalist's compact dream kit. Yes, it's expensive, but this rugged and smaller body with fast shooting is such a great value when compared to the D5 or even my old D4.

I shoot mainly wildlife and landscape. Having come from a Nikon D750 which already has amazing IQ and is a performer, I found myself immediately enamored by this camera. High dynamic range is fantastic - the auto focus system is really snappy and I love the fact that it has a bit more weather-sealing. The battery life is great and love the backlit buttons for night photography. The fact that it has no anti-aliasing filter is a huge benefit nowadays. I love this camera!

Best quality camera I've ever owned. Absolutely love this camera. It provides so much clarity and detail on all photos. It is heavier than my other cameras but the quality of the photo makes it work it. If you have used other Nikon DSLR cameras you shouldn't have to many issues learning this one.

The D850 deserves of all of the hype that reviewers have given it, although I have a way to go before I truly understand all of its options. I have decided to stay with DSLRs despite the industry's move to mirrorless. The D850 has the biggest optical viewfinder of any Nikon DSLR and I'm not willing to move to an electronic viewfinder or replace my F-mount lenses. As some reviewers say, this camera matches the image quality of even the flagship mirrorless cameras.

At this price point ($3100.00) you can't buy a better all-purpose camera. Skin tones are beautiful. Landscapes are colorful; easily capturing the rich beauty of the scene. Nine frames per second and great "tracking" capability allows you to capture the moment regarding action shots. Most importantly the huge, beautiful files allow for tremendous post processing. Both shadows and highlights can easily be refined in Photoshop. Most of the time the files are "spot on" and you don't need much post processing. For the past seventeen years I have owned many high end Canon, Sony, Olympus, Fugi and Nikon cameras and, by far, the Nikon D850 with the new 24-70 VR lens, has given me the best image quality ever. If you can afford the price, in my opinion, this camera is the best model out there!

I recently made the upgrade from the D750 to the D850 and I am thoroughly pleased with the stark difference in quality and ease of use. All the functions are now at the top of the finger. Be carful to note the raw images are in a format that is not recognized by older versions of photoshop CS6. Other than that, it is a great camera!
