It can hold my camera and two additional lenses in the main cavity, and that leaves little room for anything else. There is enough space in the additional sleeves and pockets for a beginner to hold their accessories (cords, spare batteries, hard drives, SD cards, etc). If you have a lot of additional accessories (large external flashes, lenses, if you want to carry around small props) I would consider a larger bag.
