This is the best add on for mt D500 and controls on battery pack are very handy. I like they also give holder for AA batteries.

I got this free when I purchased my Nikon D500. I'm fairly new to the prosumer market and was a bit surprised that it did not come with a battery itself considering the price tag. But I like the weight it adds to the camera and one can use Double A batteries in a pinch.

Anyone who uses their DSLR knows that if your are solely shooting images battery life with a single internal battery is more than sufficient. However, if you are using your DSLR to go between photo and video if your are using the liveview function on your camera you will blow through your battery very quickly. Never worry about having enough battery for any occasion again. Plus I love the addition shutter button for portrait shots on the grip.

Many times I'll get a last minute shoot and need a fully charged Nikon battery. When I do not have one I grab some AA's and go. Nikons batteries do last longer but this is great for extending the life of the original and being able to grab batteries asap.
