The Nikon Z Mount Adapter is an indispensable accessory for anyone transitioning from a DSLR to the Nikon Z series mirrorless cameras. This adapter is a game-changer, as it allows me to continue using all of my beloved DSLR lenses with my new Nikon Z6II. One of the most impressive aspects of the Nikon Z Mount Adapter is its seamless compatibility. The adapter securely fits onto the camera body and provides a solid connection for my older lenses. This means I can take full advantage of my existing lens collection without any compromise in performance. In terms of image quality, the Z Mount Adapter excels. The adapter ensures that the optical performance of my DSLR lenses is maintained, delivering sharp and detailed images. Autofocus works efficiently and accurately, and I haven’t noticed any significant difference in speed or accuracy when using my adapted lenses. Another great feature is the build quality of the adapter. It feels robust and durable, matching the high standards set by Nikon. The adapter is lightweight and doesn’t add much bulk to the camera setup, making it easy to carry around and use in various shooting conditions. The Nikon Z Mount Adapter truly enhances the versatility of the Nikon Z series. It has allowed me to extend the life and utility of my DSLR lenses, saving me from the immediate need to invest in new Z-mount lenses. This flexibility has made the transition to the Nikon Z system smooth and cost-effective. In summary, the Nikon Z Mount Adapter is an essential accessory for any Nikon Z series user with a collection of DSLR lenses. Its flawless performance, excellent build quality, and ability to maintain lens functionality make it a must-have for maximizing the potential of your Nikon Z camera.

Perfect Bridge Between F-Mount and Z-Mount

The Nikon FTZ II adapter is an absolute must-have if you’re moving from Nikon’s DSLR system to their mirrorless Z series. I was able to mount all my existing F-mount lenses on my new Z camera without any hassle. Autofocus works smoothly (especially with AF-S and AF-P lenses), and image quality is just as sharp as native Z lenses. The updated design of the FTZ II makes a real difference too — it’s slimmer and more comfortable to use, especially if you’re shooting handheld or on a tripod. The build feels solid, it locks lenses in firmly, and it doesn’t add unnecessary weight. This adapter gave me peace of mind knowing that my investment in Nikon F lenses is still valuable as I transition to the Z system. If you’re in the Nikon ecosystem and considering mirrorless, this is an essential tool. ✅ Maintains sharpness & autofocus performance ✅ Solid, streamlined design ✅ Lets you use your F-mount lens collection seamlessly ✅ Worth every penny for Nikon shooters Couldn’t be happier — the FTZ II makes the switch to Z-mount effortless!

I purchased this with the Nikon Z50 and got $50 off the original price as a result. Overall, I've had a great experience with this adapter - I've adapted 3 lenses on it, and all have worked well with smooth autofocus. This thing is a little thick, though, so will add some length and a bit of incremental weight to the camera + lens. I think the main benefit of having this adapter if you own a Z series camera is the ability to access a much larger variety of native and third party Nikon F-mount lenses. I have used a Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.8 and Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 using the FTZ on my Z50, and both have worked well. I think the other reason to get this adapter is that Z mount lenses are still quite expensive, and there aren't as many options yet as for the F mount. I'm a beginner and probably will never upgrade my Z50 - it meets my needs perfectly and I enjoy the "extra" focal reach of an APS-C sensor. For me, investing in the adapter made sense, and I think it opens up a lot of lens options for Z series camera users.

Perfect for Using Older Nikon Lenses on New Camera

The Nikon FTZ II adapter is a great tool if you’re switching from a Nikon DSLR to one of their newer mirrorless cameras, like the Z6 II or Z8. I’ve used it with several older Nikon lenses, and everything works just like it should. Autofocus is fast and accurate with most lenses, and even manual lenses work well with stabilization and metering. What I really like about this newer version is that it’s smaller and easier to handle than the original. Nikon removed the tripod mount, so it’s more comfortable to hold—especially when taking photos without a tripod. The build quality is solid, and it fits tightly with both the camera and the lens. If you already own Nikon DSLR lenses, this adapter lets you keep using them without any trouble. It’s an easy way to get more out of your existing gear while moving into the mirrorless world. Highly recommend it!

Works great with my Z6iii and premium F-mount lenses. My 70-200 F2.8E works better on this adapter than natively on my D780. 24-70 F2.8E also works great, but that lens is a bit awkward adapted on the Z system.

Works great, allows you to connect any F mount lenses to these Z mount mirrorless cameras. On AF-S lenses the internal autofocus works great, though the adapter does not have a dedicated screw drive so autofocus does not work on older screw drive lenses. That said, manual focus is really easy using focus peaking on mirrorless cameras, particularly for landscape photos. If you are planning on buying a new Z mount camera and have older F mount lenses, buy this as a bundle with the camera to get a big discount, otherwise it's way overpriced for what it is. Z mount lenses are really expensive, so you will almost certainly be using some of your older lenses for a while.

This adapter is very easy to use and while it does make the f series lenses feel a little longer, it’s not bad. It allows me to keep my lenses from my d750 available for my Z6II. means I didn’t waste my $4k in lenses when I upgraded to mirrorless. Will allow me to update my lenses in a more relaxed time frame.

Purchased with Nikon Z5II so I could use my Nikkor F series lenses. Those lenses work flawlessly with and provide rapid autofocus when used with the FTZ II adapter. Someday I'll buy Z series lenses, but for now I have no need.

Great adapter. Love this second version, However, it lacks focusing for older screw driven lenses. It's price for what it is feels rather too much. All it does is it communicates with lenses and provides power. How is it more than $150? not sure.

The FTZ2 adapter does a great job of converting older Nikon AF-S lenses to be used with the Nikon Z cameras. It shares the same functionality with the original FTZ adapter but doesn’t have the hump on the bottom. This also means that it doesn’t have the tripod screw on the bottom as well but that’s not an issue at all. This adapter also does well with the older AF lenses, though you lose the autofocus capability. With manual lenses (pre-AI, AI, and AI-S lenses) I preferred to use a dumb adapter because of the hump on the FTZ but with the FTZ2 that’s no longer the case. It doesn't matter if I use a dumb adapter or not, now.

The Nikon FTZ ii adapter allows you to mount approximately 360 different Nikon F-mount lenses to your Nikon Z camera body. The FTZ ii does the same thing as the original FTZ adapter but it weighs less and it doesn’t have a cumbersome bulge at the bottom of it. In terms of autofocus speed and accuracy, I believe thet my F-mount lenses are performing just as well, if not even better than before, on my Nikon Z6iii mounted with the FTZ ii. If you value smaller size and slightly lower weight, I suggest purchasing the FTZ ii, otherwise you’ll probably be okay with the cheaper original FTZ.

Lighter than original FTZ - handling of the camera is more natural without the tripod foot - same solid yet light weight construction - several of my lenses feel a tiny bit faster autofocusing - had to order second unit as first wasn't as tight as original adapter to the camera body, second is much better - able to use my Manfrotto plate on the camera body now and don't have to take it off to get the adapter off - mind boggling why the original had the tripod foot longer than the body to begin with. Nikon should have offered some kind of trade in for those who purchased the original...
