While it is a little slower (f-stop wise) than the older 200-500mm, this lens is an improvement in every way. When paired with one of the newer Z series cameras. Use with a Z8 or Z6iii if you can afford them; otherwise it should work great with a Z50ii. I have used it on a Z8, and have been thrilled with the autofocus. I held on to my D800E and D750 kit this long, because I wasn't willing to sacrifice autofocus. Nikon has really done a great job here, so unless you are in the market for $15,000 lenses...you will truly enjoy the experience and results you get with the 280-600mm.

I’m really pleased to this lens. It’s sharp very easy to use the focus ring with its short throw. It’s wonderful and I would highly recommend this lens to anyone.

Outstanding sense across the focal length available, superb autofocus too given the relatively dark max aperture.

Lens has been great thus far. Plenty of range and reach for shooting at a distance. Fast focus when paired with the new Nikon Mirrorless cameras and the internal zoom is a huge bonus.

Got thai for birding and its been a great experience. I have a 24-200 and its nice but this lens is very sharp! Not too heavy to hand carry and very easy to handle. I use it on a nikon z6iii full frame and i get good reach wothout a 1.5x teleconvertor. I would recommend this lens to anyone birding.

This is an excellent lens. I recommend using a tripod with it because of the weight.

Like most reviews say, this is a lens that punches above its weight, creating fine photos while not breaking the bank.

High quality build. Just too soft at the longer distances. I was looking for super sharp but this lens offers pretty sharp. I tested it out using a Nikon Z7II. Pretty much the old F mount 200-500 but for Z cameras. I paid the restocking fee and returned it.

It's big and heavy, but it's a great value. Produces sharp results, even handheld, but you definitely need to do your exercises.

Good lens bad Best Buy

I think they sent me an open box item. The outer delivery box was in perfect condition. The Nikon lens box from Best Buy looked as if it had been tossed around the warehouse like a basketball. It was scratched up and had a gaping hole in it. The recommended lens cover was the wrong size. This lens requires a 95 mm. I have a trip planned and the timing of this fiasco makes it terribly inconvenient and extremely frustrating.
