I expected it to be less sharp based on youtube reviews from pixel peepers but I’m actually impressed from this plasticy little lens. Feels cheap but it performs like a champ. I’m also liking this 40mm view more and more over the 50. Definitely not missing my D lens and it’s loud noises. Someone mentioned no VR and guess what, my 85 1.8s doesn’t either but your Z camera does!

Great lens. Very compact and light. Not quite as good as the 50 1.8 but for convenience it hits above its weight. Excellent price as well.

Great lens. Inexpensive, small and lightweight. Sharp enough and image quality is easily good enough for professional jobs if need be. The build quality isn’t on par with S lenses but it still is nice. Very quiet and quick focusing, almost instant on my Z5. I hope nikon builds more of these for us people who don’t want to spend $1k on S lenses. Like an 85mm or 135mm. That would be sweet.

Love the quality of images and it helps make my Z6 look pretty good too. This is the perfect little lens as an all around shooter. I've even used it to shoot stars at night on a tripod and it was mind blowing how good it was for how affordable it is. Its super good with portraits too

My go-to lens on my Z6. impressive background-blurring, Very compact and light. Seems a bit overpriced for the build quality but that doesn't bother me. Something a bit wider for street photography would be nice but I'll take the F2 aperture over the 28mm/F2.8 lens.

I'm very happy with this lens. I just had a photoshoot and the lens performed beyond my expectations. The previous photoshoot I used a 85mm and it left me knowing I needed more background. This lens did just that. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Nikon hit us out of the park with this little lens. It gives your photos kind of like a 3D pop. Satiation and sharpness are great. Great lens for the price.

Sharp little lens, not so heavy or cumbersome. great focal length for street photography. Reminds me of my Leica rangefinders with a 35mm. Not attention drawing but great images. Sharp, contrasty. Real Bargain.

Sharp lens! It wasn’t an ‘S’ lens, so I wasn’t sure about it, but I’m very happy with it and it’s clear and sharp. Works great with my Z6.
