This is lens is phenomenal! Razor sharp photos and incredible macro shots as well as great as a portrait lens in the budget range. Still a high-quality S lens! I highly recommend this lens!

This lens is very sharp close and far. Good for macro and portraits. It’s not too heavy either. Just an all around good one to have in your bag.

Let's talk about what this lens is not: it's not "fast focusing" but we need to be honest - it's not meant to be! It's a macro. I've seen a few reviews that ding it for not being lightning quick - but when you're racking focus from infinifty to a few inches, it's going to take time - even with modern motors. So if you want something "quick" go look somewhere else. Now, for a macro, this thing is superb! I had the F-mount version and prefer this one. It's extremely clean, great bokeh, easily focused, and natively a z-mount. It's everything that a $1k piece of glass should be (with the afore mentioned situation). If you're a Nikon macro shooter, this is what you're looking for. Full stop. It will also work well in product photos. In a pinch, it won't be bad in portrait (although I prefer my 70-200mm). I had some misgivings about "upgrading" from the F-mount + adapter, but this is definately worth it. A welcome addition to my camera kit.

Was very excited to get this lens when it seemed it would be backordered for quite sometime. It does live up to all of the great things being said. (Relatively) Light weight, Handles well, extremely sharp and works as well as a 2.8 portrait lens as it does as a superp macro. Focusing and VR are excellent, as well. Value is actually excellent - but don't we always wish things could be cheaper? My fist prime lens for my Z6, makes me want more. My last macro was a 60MM 2.8D so I am getting used to the difference shooting macro with 105mm.

Extremely sharp. Fast focus at normal distance on Z9, hunts a bit at macro distances. Lighter than it appears but well built.

Fantastically sharp and versatile mild telephoto prime with superb macro capability. It's somewhat large and weighty, but fast, with all that glass. VR capability makes handheld macro photos a breeze. The auto-focus is a bit slow and tends to hunt at close range.

I'm using this lens on a Nikon Z 6II body. Everything works swiftly and quietly as it should, and the image quality is top notch. The challenge is this gets you really close and you have to be careful working with the extremely shallow depth of field you get as a result. Happy shooting!

Great lens for all genres of phtography (especially macro). I really like the light weight of the lens paired with my Z camera body. The f/2.8 aperature allows for low light situations...Sharp prime lens. I recommend the MC 105 macro to anyone.

As all other Z mount glass this lens is amazing. It is IMO way to sharp for portrait photos. Yes it is that sharp! The color science from Nikon and this lens is spot on. For macro shooting it is very good. Even sharper than the original f mount 105 micro.

I purchased this among a few others, along with the Z6 mark 2 for the wife over the last 2 years. With Best Buy's easy credits for reviews and past purchases purchasing from them makes total sense! I get awesome deals on quality products, and the wife is happy as a bug in a rug out taking spectacular pictures with this lens of, you guessed it, Bugs! I mean this lens takes the cake! She raves about it, and has the pics to prove it. Thank you Best Buy!

Love the quality of this lens. I had the F mount version and I feel this lens outperforms an amazing 105mm F mount. Love how light it is as well.

Nikon really hit it out of the park with this lens. Prior to this, my 85mm f/1.8 was my go-to lens for portraits. But, this lens is on a whole different level with my Z 5 camera. The macro features are just icing on the cake (and fun!). Purchased on sale at an incredible price, so value is 5 stars.
