This attachment is worth the money if you're interested in stepping up your game in taking photographs. If not - if you just want to take simple autofocus, etc. photos, the built-in flash works well.

Much easier to use than the 700. Great point and shoot but just enough features to make great photos.

I was going to go with the SB-300 at first but decided to go with the 500 after reading reviews and I must say I am glad I did. The LED lighting is great and the flash on this is more than enough for almost any setting. I've used in total blackout conditions as a test and it lights up the room like a 75 Watt lightbulb. More than enough flash for the average user and in some cases I would say even the pro user.

I bought this flash for my D5500 camera. My niece was getting married and I wanted a stronger flash because the reception hall would be dark. It worked very well for me.

It's lightweight, packs good in my backpack. Works really well for those low light shots.

I also reviewed various sites and especially the Nikon Website finding this flash to be exactly what I needed. The flash head can be tilted up and down and also turned left and right accommodating various shooting angles. It was a perfect combo with my D5500. Sometimes the contacts need to be rubbed gently with fingers to clear up any lost connections with the camera. Locks in place with no issues.

I bought this as a replacement to my SB 700 that got stolen . I regret that decision. This flash is a very basic one . Doesn't come close to either the SB 600 or SB 700 in functionality. However, it is half the price. Be sure of what you want out of your flash before buying this.

Provide the right amount of lights. Easy to use and good size.

This is my first external flash for my new Nikon 7100D and I love it!

I bought this flash to go with a Nikon D7100 that I recently purchased. It's a good multi-purpose flash that works well with the camera.

Integrates well with my Nikon D500. Photos taken with flash are coming out great. I prefer to use bounce with this flash - straight up towards the ceiling, giving a softness to most skin tones.

I love the soft light this bounces of the ceiling. It's not harsh and gives off a good color. Great for at home photos.

I just invested in a new set up a Nikon d7500 and read a lot about lighting in how it will take your pictures up a notch. Believe the hype my first impression was why hadn't I invested sooner. Great lamp and easy to use. I give it a an A for all around use for photography.

I needed/wanted an external flash for My Nikon D3500. I chose this one since it was more or less middle of the road.

Glad i went with this version over the sb-300, although for my purposes 300 was probably good enough.

Great flash. Lightweight, love the angles and rotation. Nice and lightweight. We did have to upgrade to a SB-700, not a fault of this SB-500, but due to our needs of more remote flash capabilities. Our Nikon D5000 does not have a flash commander built in, so we needed the SB700 to have full remote flash capabilities.

This is my first time using an external flash on a dslr. It is very easy to use and comes with a very informative manual. I find it greatly enhances my photos vs using the camera's attached flash. It does not add too much weight and is not cumbersome to store in my camera bag. In addition to the manual, you get a storage bag and flash stand.

I purchased this product right before I got hired for taking photos of my first wedding, and I've used it for several more and I love it. Only downside is it runs through the battery somewhat fast but that is to be expected
