I bought this flash as it is more compact than the SB910 that I own for taking on trips. So far, the flash works as stated. I have not used it much yet but I'm sure that Nikon makes a good product.

The 500 is the perfect size to day to day use. The swivel head means you can effectively place you light where you need it. The off camera ability makes it a win win for the price.

just bought this flash to replace my SB-400 flash, and i am one happy customer!! the head rotates to several different positions like a more professional flash would, without putting a huge dent in the wallet. definitely an improvement for a novice shooter with little funding!! buy this over the entry-level flash, and you'll be set for a LOT longer before needing new gear!! also as an added feature this flash can be used quite easily off-camera with the included stand!!

I have used the SB-500 for years. A brought this one as a replacement. Again, this flashlight external flash is excellent.

Works great for what I need it for. Brightens up my pictures and takes the blur out of my pictures that I often got before because lack of light.

I use this flash every day for my job and it's keeping up with the more expensive Canon flash. It's lighter and taking he beating...

Wonderful speedlight for when you travel, this is noticeably smaller and lighter vs. most standard speedlights, like the sb-600/700/800, and the best part is, it's pretty much just a powerful (minus the ability to zoom). Only requires two AA as well, which is also great since it means carrying less spare batteries too. Front LED video comes in handy more than I thought it would, used it successfully for still photos.

Nice and compact! Works like a beast. Good for video recording as well with its dedicated LED.

This flash works well with Nikon D750. It is light weight and provides a good bounce light source.

I am using this flash on a Nikon P7700 and honestly not sure this flash does what it should all the time.... at times seems to not recycle and other times gets warm and then other times is almost perfect. I think some offbrand flashes might have been better however for now it works.
