Photography is a hobby of mine and let me tell you to save some money and get a 3rd party flash (or even a couple) with external conteoller for the same money.

Flash worked great for a while, loved it on my D7000. Was really pleased with the purchase however after 17 months it stopped powering on. Tried new batteries....nothing. Now I have to submit a repair to Nikon and have to pay $109 to get it fixed which almost doubles the original price I paid. Sucks. I never buy Best Buy extended warranties because they've backfired before but now I'm wishing I had.

Great flash! A little expensive to do the same things as other cheaper ones. I love it though, great quality!

Bought the flash for a wedding in Colorado. Helped light up the subjects when shooting at night.

Worked great until 2 weeks after the 1 year warranty. TTL mode stopped working when connected to camera. Had to spend $200 to be fixed by Nikon when original product was only $350 itself.

I bought this for my nikon d7000 dslr. the ease of use at first was a little confusing. after a few minutes of reading the manual, i was very in tune with how to use this accessory and the advantages it brings to my pictures. adjusting the flash is very easy and helps for a more creative picture with "bounce flash". You also have the ability to adjust the exposure of the flash from -3.0 to +3.0. this helps alot with "throwing" the flash further if your subjects are farther away from you. the diffuser cup that comes with it is nice for softening the light and the two optional green and amber filters make for some very interesting color accents. you also have the ability to make this flash a "slave unit" to another sb-700 or sb-900 wirelessly. overall it is a very feature rich flash. It is definitely worth the money. one drawback i have found is that it runs through 4 AA batteries very quickly. If you are at an event and get up to around 300 pictures, you will need to change out your batteries. investing in some rechargables is recommended.

We ordered two flashes. We opened one and it worked fine. The other we did not end up needing for a year - when we opened it it didn’t work. The motor grinds when turns on and displays an error light. Approx $150 repair to fix if we go that route. Now we’re past the return window and a brand new flash that doesn’t work. Extremely disappointed, lesson learned.

My wife uses the flash frequently and it has been reliable.
