Not a small appliance--HUGE. Yes I read the size online but it's larger in person. A con of internet buying. Smelled out of box but I followed Q&A advice...wash, heat 20 min, wash, heat 20 & smell is gone. Main problem is heat escaping from bottom of unit & the vent in back. The cord is too short to put back side of unit near stove exhaust fan. I live in the desert and don't need 400 degrees of hot air competing with the A/C. I put my crock pot outside in summer but it's no maintenance for 5 hours. With this unit I have to shake it every 6/7 minutes to prevent burning and promote even cooking. I don't want to be running in & out with it being 110 degrees outside. Guess I will put it away till winter when I want to heat up the house. By the way, it's so large it won't fit in my largest kitchen cupboard and it makes the counter look very cluttered. Lot of money for a seasonal appliance.

Decent machine. Can't air fry large amounts of food as advertised. 20 fries is probably too many to put in fryer. Not a fan.

When I first bought this love it, then it stopped work after 3 month. Ok stuff happens, I had the product replacement, so I got new one, same one. A month after I bought that one it stopped working, so I'm done. I love air fryers. So I guess it's time to find a new brand.

Really great way to eat a little healthier!!

My wife and I are trying to eat healthier and yet we still enjoy our fried foods so when we heard about the Air Fryer concept it sounded very intriguing and we immediately endeavored to obtain one to help get a little healthier with our diets. As someone who eats out a lot we are really trying to eat at home more and having the right tools can mean the difference in going out or staying home if we have something we can enjoy here at the house. An Air Fryer, or any type of tool like it for that matter, needs to have three things to consider when rating it. How easy it to use, how easy it is to clean up when does and how well does it do it's job its intended for. Well first of all the instructions with the Ninja Air Fryer Max is very easy to setup and comes with a lot of helpful material. You may want to dive right in just by reading the basics but it really will benefit you to read everything that came with the unit. The first thing to note is that the unit is pretty impressive looking and although it's large it's more tall than wide for those who are lacking in counter space. Of course like myself I believe many folks will put this in a spot elsewhere when not in use and move it back to the counter to use. I suppose in time I may find a permanent home for it though depending upon how much we truly use it (which I believe will be a lot). Secondly, the Air Fryer Max does a great job of it's actual intended use, to fry food for you. I know it's cliche to cook chicken wings in this thing but that's actually the very first thing we cooked and it did a really great job of cooking them up nice and crisp (you add the sauce later when you toss them, or eat them plain, they're delicious that way too as I snuck a couple like that). But of course the other items we have tried such as cheese sticks, fried pickles, etc have all turned out wonderful as well. This thing does a great job of very quickly cooking your food stuffs just a bit healthier than what you'd get if you were deep frying them and likely much, much healthier than going out to get fast food. Lastly, the unit is designed with easy cleaning in mind and cleans up quickly so you can get it all put away and ready for the next outing. All in all I'm very happy witht he Ninja Air Fryer Max XL (and it is XL for up to 3 pounds of chicken wings!) and my wife and I will likely be using this quite a bit on pizza night (got to have those chicken wings with the pizza!). It's a really great way to still eat some of the foods that you love but do so in just a more healthy manner. I'd highly recommend anyone thinking about it to consider adding the Ninja Air Fryer Max XL - AF161 to your kitchen tools, it's a great buy!!

Health nuts rejoice! It truly is funny getting excited about small kitchen appliances, but in this case it is certainly warranted. After having a few air fryers since they came out, I think I have finally found “the one.” Being a health conscious vegan family, we are always into preparing food with appliances that are not only healthy, but also do their jobs well. The Ninja Air Fryer definitely takes care of both. In the mood for crispy fries or tater tots without the oil and mess? How about perfectly dehydrated thinly sliced Potato or Zucchini chips? With Max Crisp, Air Fry, Air Roast, and Air Broil settings all at the touch of a button, you can make a veritable plethora of yummy food items in this “oilless” fryer. Here is one of my favorite items to cook. I put a thawed Beyond Burger on the wire rack and use the Air Roast setting at 390 degrees for nine minutes. Once it is done, I open it up to put a slice of Follow Your Heart vegan cheddar cheese on top, reclose it for a few minutes to melt, and voilà! Dress it up how you like, slap it on a bun, and taste just how delicious vegan cheeseburgers can be. Perfectly cooked without even starting the grill. Another great thing to make is crispy tofu. Cube the tofu (firm recommended), lightly spray it with avocado or olive oil, season it with your favorite seasonings, and toss it with a light coat of flour of your choice, then set the fryer on “Max Crisp” for 7-10 minutes. I was previously not a fan of tofu, but after max crisping it in the Ninja, my mind has changed. In fact, I just had this tonight. I re-created a bowl I always get at Yumm but made it way better at home with my own organic ingredients and personal touches. A lot of air fryers only come with a single timer dial, some have a timer dial and a temp dial. The Ninja gives you more options and includes temp, timer, all of the aforementioned cooking modes, as well as bake, reheat, and dehydrate buttons. It even has a digital readout to help you set these functions, as well as to show you exactly how much time is left. Way better than a simple dial. I can also say that this fryer seems to cook quicker than the others I’ve had before. Efficiency is on point! The Ninja is also VERY easy to keep clean. Once it has cooled down a little, simply rinse the bottom rack and wire rack and toss them in the dishwasher, then use a little dish soap and a scratch free sponge or scrub brush to hand wash the basket. The basket is non stick so I have had no issues with anything sticking so far. Quick and easy cleanup is a BIG bonus in my family. Bottom line… If you cook for yourself, I can’t recommend this enough. Why heat up a full size oven when you have this?! Granted there are obvious things an oven can do that an air fryer can’t, I still find myself using this several times a week and I am always thinking about what else I can cook in it. You can prepare so many different things with an air fryer that I believe I have only scratched the surface of what it is capable of. All that said, it’s certainly not only for the lonesome cooker. If you want to prepare a whole basket of food for the family, by all means go for it. Cook a little portion or a big portion. It does the trick. If you have a full basket of veggies, fries, tots, whatever, you will want to stir/toss a few times while cooking. The Ninja will pause itself if the drawer is opened so you can do this easily. I think I’ll figure out how to do a vegan pizza next. Nom nom! PROS: It’s a Ninja It’s a healthy way to cook Takes less time to cook than other air fryers Digital readout Several cooking modes including Dehydrate Wire rack included Extremely easy cleanup Stylish and cool looking We own a lot of SharkNinja products and absolutely love them all CONS: Now I’m hungry
