Not worth it, even if you fell in love with OG
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's too tall and not worth it. Ninja has such a lead in this space, the fact that they didn't decide to fix some of its bigger flaws with this new unit, makes me sad.

Fun, But Not Really Necessary
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ninja - Swirl™ by CREAMi® Soft Serve and Ice Cream Maker is a fun kitchen gadget to make tasty frozen desserts such as frozen yogurt and ice cream. I will say, it is nice to have the ability to make and dispense soft serve at home, but it takes a bit of planning and patience to accomplish this. First off, your will need to make sure you have all the ingredients you need ahead of time. Also, keep in mind it takes 24 hours before you can enjoy most frozen treats, so you must be patient. There are only two tubs included with the machine, so you can only make 2 batches at a time. One positive is you can refreeze the leftovers to enjoy another day, but you will have to re-spin multiple times to get the desired creamy texture. Here are the positive of the machine: Easy to use and follow included directions Easy to clean and parts are labeled, so there is no guessing what goes where A lot of easy recipes are included in the booklet, and more can be found online Most recipes are only a few ingredients that are found at the grocery store Nice to make soft serve at home for cones or bowls You control what you put in your frozen dessert (protein, sugar content, etc) Can add flavors and mix ins to make endless combinations of desserts Soft serve is very creamy Can make ice cream, shakes, frozen yogurt, soft serve, etc Can add store bought ice cream Here are the negatives of the machine: It's very tall and takes up a lot of counter space There are a lot of different pieces, but only 2 freezing tubes limiting output It is very loud when initially turning the frozen mixture after freezing It can take multiple re-spins to get the desired creamy texture You have to wait 24 hours to enjoy the frozen treat, so you must plan ahead Overall, it is a fun machine to have if you have the space and patience to use it. It's definitely not an everyday use type of kitchen gadget but is fun to try making new things. I love being able to make soft serve treats at home, but the waiting part and re-spinning is kind of annoying.

Posted .Hello JulieC.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your thorough feedback. We will pass along your comments regarding the number of pints included, the need for re-spinning to achieve the desired texture, the noise produced when first turning the frozen mixture after freezing, and the time it takes to freeze and enjoy the final product. Your insights are incredibly valuable as we work on improving and innovating our offerings.

Fun, with a couple of limits
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ninja, maker of both mainstream kitchen essentials and more unique and novelty appliances, is at it again. Expanding on the Creami line is the new Swirl machine, which adds the ability to make soft serve at home. Does this machine live up to the hype? Time to take a look and see what it can whip up. In the box is the main machine, two pint containers, the mixing canister, the mixing blade, the press lid, a drip tray, and some manuals and recipe ideas. There are a bunch of pieces to this system, but fortunately all of them fit together well and a set of removable decals and clear instructions make it very straightforward to set up and start using. Which is the first interesting thing about this unit. It is essentially two motors – one the high speed mixing blade that blends an aerates the frozen mixes, and the other a high torque press that forces the soft serve mix out of the canister. There is no compressor to freeze things, so you have to pre-freeze the ice cream or soft serve mix for at least 24 hours before using it. This means you can’t just use the unit on a whim on a hot day. You have to have flavors picked and the mix frozen in advance. Putting the frozen mix canister into the mixing canister, you just lock it in, select the correct mode, and away it goes. And..does it go..it takes 4-5 minutes to mix up soft serve ice cream or frozen yogurt, and since the unit is basically blending up a frozen solid mix to make it into a smooth soft serve, it’s VERY loud. I measured it at over 90db right next to the unit, and even standing at a normal distance away, it was about 80db. The result of all of that noise though is a velvet smooth mix to move to the soft serve extruder. Again, the process is pretty simple, remove the mix canister, put on the extruding lid, and lock it into place on the press. Now we are ready to get some soft serve! Pull the handle, and the fun begins! The press pushes out the soft serve at a decent pace and will retract automatically when you hit the end. The soft serve is a little smaller diameter than you’d get at an ice cream shop, but it works! The pint container does go fast though, and serving more than four people on one is going to mean really small serving sizes. If you are using this for a party, you are going to need 2 or more pint containers pre-frozen and ready to go. Clean up is very easy, all of the parts come apart and clean up well, which I appreciate as some of these more novelty style appliances can be very involved to clean up. Overall, this machine does make soft serve out of regular ingredients that is very smooth, or you can make scoopable ice cream too. If you can plan ahead, and handle a few minutes of pretty loud noise, it can quickly prep some tasty frozen treats.

Loud, but Effective
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a lot of fun to make ice cream at home, especially with two kids at home. This machine does not provide any cooling abilities though. Everything needs to be prepared and frozen beforehand in the provided containers, so you have to be on top of it to make it on demand. There is delayed gratification in that so keep it in mind as you consider it for purchase. Functionally, it works great! But it is LOUD. For five or six minutes at a time as it mixes your frozen ingredients into a dispensable or scoopable format. I’ll see if I can include a video. Imagine the blizzard machine at your local frozen treat shop or a high powered blender on your kitchen counter. I wish I’d gotten a decibal reading off it. The whole family leaves the kitchen until it’s done. Home made ice cream is cozy but the sheer racket this machine makes is agonizing. But the ice cream is good! The directions and recipes that come with the booklet are easy to follow. We made peach cobbler frozen yogurt and it was incredible. We added actual peach slices and granola to the mix and the ice cream dispenser function worked perfectly! I see us using this a lot this summer, maybe when everyone is outside so we don’t have to listen to it.

Swirl the Way to at Home Soft Serve
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ninja - Swirl by CREAMi is a great addition to the kitchen. This has been added to our expanded countertop (buffet cabinet) as a versatile kitchen accessory for the whole family. My wife has been eyeing a Ninja CREAMi since they came out and I am delighted we held out (accidently) for the Swirl to release. With the Swirl adding soft serve magic, my happy toddler awaits! Out of the box, the Swirl is mostly assembled. There is a box with additional parts having the bowls/lids associated. The drip pan takes a little pressure to install into the device, do not worry. I was initially a bit overwhelmed as I looked at the start-up guide instructions and saw the various pieces; however, Ninja takes the time to put stickers along with QR codes to assist in the process. Once I got over the initial visual overload it became more self explanatory/easy to understand with the manual guide. I actually stuck everything off to the side and ignored it for about 1-day. The Swirl has a simple visual appeal with the pull down handle on the side, to provide the classic soft-serve experience right at home. My wife is overall a fan of the look, being happy/glad to leave it out for display which is not always the case with kitchen gadgets. There are two of the pint containers included with the Swirl, which is a nice start up. However, considering the recommended 24 hour in freezer freeze, this could be limiting for most. Ninja does have available for purchase additional pint containers if that is for you. My biggest frustration comes with the overall preparation. I am inpatient in many aspects of life and it appears at home soft serve (or scoop serve) falls into this category. The program overview lead me to this realization - it is recommended to freeze the pint for 24 hours prior to processing. Once 24 hours is completed, then you process with the Swirl (either soft serve or scoop) and then you are good to dispense/serve. That 24 hours is a long waiting game for both myself and toddler, but worth the wait. Once frozen, the creamerizer paddle does its magic and good to go post processing. There is a swirl press/dispense lid that goes on when using soft serve, quick and simple to transition to. Like I said, initially out of the box seemed overwhelming but after looking everything over, comes together quickly. There are different soft serve options, that are related to the base/type of recipe being used. Ninja has included a fantastic recipe book to start creations with. I would have been lost without it, as this does take some learning/recipe challenge. Some of the recipes call for Xanthan Gum, which was easy to find at the grocery store, I did not already have it. Have not used it yet but have it stocked. This is used for texture per their report and since the substitute is pudding mix, this makes sense/tracks. The one-ingredient frozen yogurt was a great starting point, with a smooth texture once created/dispensed and quite the yummy treat without having to go to the local FroYo. I enjoy that simply with yogurt can have a quick treat after that 24 hour freeze. The easy vanilla soft serve was super quick to throw together with a quick whisking. Have not had the opportunity to use the more expansive recipes yet, but so far the "easy" level ones have been just that and turned out great and enjoyable. The at home luxury of the soft serve dispense, is just a quality of life addition that I never knew I needed. I think CREAMi without the Swirl would have disappointed me in retrospect. Overall, the Swirl by CREAMi is a great kitchen gadget to have. Initially, I was thinking it would be a nice party/dinner night item for guests - like hey, lets throw something together; but rather it does take some thought/preparation. If one was to get a couple extra pints and have pre-frozen some of their favorites, then yes, a party item/trick indeed but that takes planning and freezer space that I have not committed to yet. This is a great family item in my opinion and happy to have added it to the various Ninja items I see daily in the kitchen.

I can't believe I'm saying this but it was fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m old school. I remember sitting in the backyard with my brother and sister taking turns on the hand crank ice cream bucket. We were so excited when dad would pop the top off and we fought to lick the mixer. Fast forward about 60 years and now we have electric ice cream machines and now even soft serve. I was skeptical at first on the Ninja Swirl but I got the machine, opened up the recipe book and made a shopping list. Off to the store my wife and I go, list in hand because there were many things we usually don’t keep around being it’s just us two. First visit to stock the shelves with basics was a bit pricey on the high side but once we started mixing up batches, we had so much fun and it was worth it. We followed a couple of recipes. First was chocolate soft serve. Mixed up the batch and put it in the freezer so it would be ready the next day to serve. Next batch was scoop vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips. We made the ice cream and put in the freezer so it would be ready the next day to add the chips. After about 24 hours I followed the simple directions and grabbed the chocolate soft serve mix, now frozen solid, and inserted the container in the Swirl, selected soft serve and the ice cream and the Swirl started whipping up the mix from frozen to a smooth consistency. We did have to run it through a re-spin cycle to get the consistency but that is a simple process… just push the re-spin button. Take the container, put on the special serving lid, open the spout, insert it into the serve connection and with a simple twist and pull down the handle you get a nice creamy treat. Good stuff. We next grabbed the vanilla scoop mix, made a hole into the frozen mix and dumped in the recommended quantity of chocolate chips and pressed the mix-in button… a couple of times 😊. In short order we had scoopable ice cream and it was so good!!!! But my wife’s favorite flavor so far was the triple chocolate scoop gelato I made yesterday. She needs to go to the store for more supplies. My wife and I love this but the only complaint I have is it does not freeze the mix. It’s a bit of an inconvenience to put the mix in the freezer for about 24 hours to firm it up. I get it… it would be monstrous in size and super expensive and tossing in the freezer is just a minor inconvenience but $350 for the Swirl is maybe a stretch for some and without immediate gratification. But, as a family fun night, like baking cookies, it’s a good centerpiece. I can see myself purchasing additional Swirl pint containers. It does take up a bit of counter space but we had two different kinds of pod coffee machines so one of those got put away for a bit.

A Delightful Experience with the Ninja Swirl
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Ninja Swirl™ by CREAMi® Soft Serve and Ice Cream Maker for only a couple of weeks, and dinnertime in my house is never the same anymore. When I first unwrapped it, I was instantly impressed with how easy it is to get started. The 13 one-touch programs are a total game-changer—classic vanilla soft serve, fruity whips, the whole nine yards: a button press away. One of my favorites is the CreamiFit™ program. I've been trying to monitor my sugar intake, so being able to create lower-calorie, high-protein desserts is a definite bonus. I also like that I can choose from 6 Soft Serve Programs—it's sweet fun to try different styles such as frozen custard or mix up some tangy yogurt. The Soft Serve Creamify Technology provides me with that creamy smooth texture I receive only at an ice cream parlor. Customizing my creations has been a highlight. I’ve tried mixing in fresh strawberries, crushed cookies, and even bits of dark chocolate. The dispensing handle makes swirling cones so simple that my kids can do it themselves—turning dessert night into a fun family affair. Cleanup is also a breeze, with the pints, lids, and paddle all being dishwasher safe. Overall, Ninja Swirl™ by CREAMi® is an easy-to-use, convenient machine that brings a bit of fun to our home kitchen. If you love frozen dessert and would love to have unlimited options, then the product is something you can't do without.

Right machine for those needing it
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having used this unit several times, it is apparent that it will be a fit for those who want to 'tailor' their soft serve and who will use it enough to substantiate its footprint. Setup of the unit is very easy - there are many stickers placed strategically on the base unit and on all of the attachments that make it very easy to understand the usage instructions. The recipe book has a good variety of recipes, ranging from traditional ice cream to fruit sorbets to protein soft serves. Everything that I made by strictly following a recipe turned out great. The things that I made by 'winging it' need some work - it will take some trial and error to get my own versions of recipes figured out. In each case, it is easy to mix up the incredients and place them in one of the two provided containers to freeze for 24 hours. The two-step process to mix a frozen concoction and to then do a soft serve of it works well. If you have an affinity for making your own ice cream, sorbet, protein mixes, etc., this would be an intriguing item to have. It takes up a fair amount of counter space and it is a bit of a brute...

you hit a home run here Ninia
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.if you have kids this machine is something that kid would totally love specially summer is around the corner, Ninjas Swirl by CREAMi is probably one for the few interesting machine I have ay home that some how being such a useful tool to have. this ice cream machine ain’t only attractive to display and look at but the ease of use and handful of options you got it’s just pure joy so far! DEVICE Ninja Swirl build quality is great this is not a light machine this actually have some weight, I decided to place mine beside the coffee machine station at my kitchen there was about 9 button to choose from type of deserts, lights are well lit with easy to read text right at front, the machine comes with a beautiful grey/silver mix of colors, you also get two cup to use one can be used got blending while the other is for your soft server section. attaching all necessary piece was easy to do, device is almost like a puzzle sometimes when stacking each pieces from connecting and disconnecting from the machine. EXPERIENCE so the main thing I focused on was making milkshakes and doing the soft serve on a cone. decided to buy some tasty chocolate and doing making sure turn out wdlll the consistency that I needed was there. same thing with the soft serve, using this made me felt like I have a ice cream shot right at home. niece and nephews came by and I had to show them this machine, which they all loving and wanted to try making an Ice cream cone themselves. i’m so happy that none of the Icecream get stuck with Ninja Swirl this machine is such an I easy device to use you can learn in matter of minutes. also when setting this up make sure to scan the QR code I did find it useful that provide a video instructions on how to properly plug in pieces. I still haven’t fully had the chance to use all the setting which really I only like ice cream. cleaning is also easy since you can just unplug each container with ease but you can also put it inside the dish washer, I hand wash mine which again it’s very easy and does not take that much time. CONCLUSION think Ninja is clearly building this type of devices is because they know what the people want and I feel like they are kings when it comes. i’m happy to see my little niece and nephew enjoyed creating their own treats with this Ninja Swirl. i’m trying to think of something negative about this machine but they did such a great job that I can’t think of one thing that I would change. overall I highly recommend Ninjs Swirl, this machine is beautiful, it works well. does not require a ton of cleaning but delivers some quality treats for and the family.

Fun for the whole family!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ninja has created viral products lately with the SLUSHi and the CREAMi machines. They’ve made it super simple to make ice cream, milkshakes, slushies, and smoothies in the comfort of your own home. Now with the CREAMi Swirl my childhood dreams have come true with soft serve ice cream right at your fingertips! The Initial setup for the Swirl was a breeze. The machine itself feels well built and solid with a nice two tone silver finish. The Swirl comes with 2 16 oz swirl pints and all the accessories for the process along with a recipe book and a quick start guide. Unfortunately the unit is so tall it does not fit under our cabinet on our countertop so be aware and check measurements. We already have the SLUSHi machine so a separate bar cart is probably in our future. The CREAMi has 13 different modes. 6 different classic modes for Ice Creams, Sorbets, Frozen Yogurts, Milkshakes, and Gelato. 6 new Soft Serve depending on what type of ingredients you’re using Dairy, Non Dairy, Canned Fruit, etc. And also finally a Mix in mode to add things like Oreo cookies! The possibilities are literally endless. We really love mixing protein powder with our ice creams for a healthy treat! If you’re getting started I definitely recommend checking out the Quick Start Guide as is it will break down all the steps and makes its super easy to follow. The nice thing about these machines is that they have a big following and you can easily find Facebook groups with people sharing recipes and tips and tricks. Experimenting and perfecting a recipe is a big part of the fun and when you get it right it’s very rewarding! For a kid who grew up making ice cream in grade school with rock salt, milk and sugar the Swirl is a big adult kids dream. Pulling the handle for the first time is so enjoyable and satisfying. Knowing you can make soft serve ice cream for our family whenever you want just makes me happy. The kids sure love it as well! Ninja has built a home run product with the Swirl and I definitely recommend it. It’s such a versatile machine for the price and there’s just something about ice cream that brings the family together. The Swirl will be sure to be the center of many family memories for years to come.
