So after 2 and a half months of anxiously waiting, my Ninja Foodi XL Pro Indoor 7-in-1 Grill & Griddle finally arrived. And it couldn't have come at a better time. Will definitely use this with our family Thanksgiving Dinner plans this year. This thing is a beast and the build quality is solid as a rock. Ninja never ceases to amaze me. And I'm loving it. Unpacking the box you will get: * Ninja Foodi XL Pro Indoor Grill & Griddle * Pro Powered Grill Grate * Flat Top BBQ Griddle Plate * 4Qt. Crisper Basket * Quick Start Guide and Recipe Book * User Manual Documentation Once I got everything unpacked and set up, I was ready to throw a couple of steaks in the Ninja Foodi XL Pro Grill & Griddle. After getting my steaks all seasoned up nicely and letting them marinate for a few hours, I set followed along with the Quick Start Recipe on cooking steaks. Simply take the Por Powered Grill Grate and insert it into the Grill & Griddle and snap it into place. Next I powered on the machine and set the big dial on front panel to Grill. Set the appropriate time and press the big button to allow the Grill & Griddle to start preheating. Once preheated, it will beep and tell you to Add Food to the grill. The steaks came out perfect. Better than the other Air Fryer I had been using for the last year to make my steaks. My steak was juicy and tender. Medium well to perfection. So far we've only used the grill over the last week to cook steaks, however, you can do so much more with the Ninja Foodi XL Pro Grill & Griddle. And each grill plate is designed for specific food items. On the front panel of the Grill & Griddle is the following: * Power Button * Display Panel * Preheat Button * Start/Stop Button and Selector for: 1. Grill 2. Roast 3. Broil 4. Bake 5. BBQ Griddle 6. Air Crisp 7. Dehydrate * Temp Button * Time Button * Function Button Another great feature of the Grill & Griddle is you can cook with the Hood Open or Closed. The closed function ensures all of the food is cooked evenly. Great for steaks. Clean up is a breeze and all of the grill plates and crisper basket are dishwasher safe. However, we've just been using a soap water and dishcloth to clean ours. Care not to use any type of scrub pad as it was cause damage to the coating of the grill plates. I've never heard of smash burgers before but we will definitely be making some soon. They look amazing and easy as pie to make.

I have always considered Ninja products to be first rate when it comes to their innovative and high quality kitchen appliances. I became a fan when the Ninja Foodi was released. It changed the way I cook and has become a constant in my kitchen. Over the years I’ve added additional Ninja products to my cooking arsenal. The Ninja Foodi XL Pro Indoor 7-in-1 Grill & Griddle has quickly become a welcome addition. In the box you find the 1760 watt grill, the powered grill grate, the flat top bbq griddle plate, the crisper basket, the splatter shield, owners guide, and the quick start guide. The grill and all accessories have a substantial and high quality feel and appearance. The stainless steel grill really looks great and would look at home in the finest of kitchens. The control panel is sleek, simple, and very intuitive to use. You’ll find several operating buttons including the power button, start/stop, temp, time, function, and preheat buttons. The central knob is where you select the grills cooking function by turning it to grill, roast, broil, bbq griddle, air crisp, bake, and dehydrate. I was excited to eventually try all these options but for my first use I wanted to try grilling. I popped in the pro powered grill grate and installed the splatter shield. The grill grate is very nicely made with some serious non stick coating. It incorporates a built in grease catch area at the front of the grate. The grate itself snap into the grill. To remove it after cooking there is a release button located at the left rear corner of the grill. I opted for boneless chicken breast for my first test. To reduce smoke Ninja recommends a high temp cooking oil such as canola, coconut, avocado, vegetable, or grapeseed oil. I used canola to coat my chicken breasts and then seasoned them. I was able to easily fit four large breasts with room to spare. I cooked on high and set the grill for 20 minutes but planned on checking the temperature around the 15 minute point. This version of the Foodi grill has no included temperature probe so you’ll have to use your own thermometer. As grilling progressed I was thrilled to see that there was no smoke or steam produced from the grilling process. When done the chicken had great grill marks and was crispy and golden on the outside while juicy and moist on the inside. As far as I was concerned perfection on my first attempt. I was very excited to be able to accomplish great grilling results indoor in the middle of winter. About the only thing that slightly bothered me was that the the grill grate is angled so the grease runs forward into the grease catch area. The surface is so angled and so non stick that the chicken breasts kept sliding forward into the grease catch. Over the next few days I grilled pork chops, steaks, burgers, and veggies. All with excellent results. I also did french fries and chicken tenders in the 4 quart crisper basket. This accessory accommodates a large quantity of food, up to two pounds of fries easily fit. I’m a fan of air frying and the Foodi grill worked great. I also did breakfast on the bbq griddle. Eggs, pancakes, and bacon all came out great. I would also point out that cleanup of all accessories was a breeze. The Ninja Foodi XL Pro Indoor 7-in-1 Grill & Griddle truly offers a multitude of cooking options. I’ve only scratched the surface and yet I was already thrilled with the cooking possibilities. Another great Ninja addition to my kitchen.

The Ninja Foodi XL Pro Indoor 7-in-1 Grill and Griddle with 4-Quart Air Fryer, and can Roaster, Bake, Dehydrate, and Broil all in one small package that looks great on your countertop. Ninja has done it again in my opinion with the Foodi XL. The #1 reason I wanted this was the new style of air fryer that uses the heat from the grille and circulates it through a bin/pan that they designed to keep food at a position to get the heat and air all around your food. Another great point is half way through, it has you flip the food for even more equal cooking. It works so well, I opened the trash and tossed my old air fryer. The Ninja Foodi cooks much faster and more thoroughly than the other $100+ air fryer that is now in the county landfill. The grille is another great feature to use making burgers in no time with much less grease and fat. Does very well with chicken breast and yes, my grilled meatloaf. The grille heats very evenly for easy to cook meats and veggies. Pancakes, eggs, bacon and hash browns are all easy as can be on this amazing griddle. No, you cant have huge pancakes unless you cook one at a time but 2 decent sized pancakes cook fast and brown nicely on the Ninja Foodi. Eggs are easy to flip with the non stick coating and a big spatula, anyone can flip eggs now, even my 9 year old daughter. Baking is not a top priority in the Foodi but I did test it with a recipe and worked great. It was a little faster than the oven and I had no issues with the center not being cooked. My assumption is the smaller area of the Foodi traps the heat in better than an oven cooking faster and more thoroughly. We tried some thin steaks with the broil feature and they turned out horrible, I wont lie, but I have to say the steaks were not the best and I was learning what the broiler would do. I usually do not broil steaks but I do not know what else to try as I do not broil a lot. Do not take this part of the review to heart. Size is not bad for all you can use it for, I cannot wait to take it in the camper next year for fast meals off the generator instead of the crappy flat plate and microwave everything type of food we usually make. We leave it on our counter and is never in the way, Also, it looks nice, not out of place at all next to the rest of the Ninja family of products we use. The quality of Ninja products has never let us down yet and is the main reason we keep sticking to them for a cooking and baking needs. If you want the most universal cooking device in your home, look at the Ninja Foodi like of products, one of them will definitely work for you.

Good upgrade to the Foodi Grill

The Ninja Foodi XL Pro Grill & Griddle is the upgrade to the Ninja Foodi grill that we’ve been using for the last couple of years. We’ve come to rely on our Foodi grill, but the new version introduces a few key upgrades that make it even better. Like the previous model, the unit consists of a large cabinet with heating elements that heat up the non-stick grill surface. The grill plate itself lifts out for cleaning, but I had found cleaning to be my least favorite part of owning the grill. The “ribs” on the grill plate made it difficult to get completely clean. The XL pro exchanges the old grill plate for a new one that is a simple rectangle with straight-line ribs that are much easier to clean. This makes a huge difference! The shape of the XL Pro is also different. As I just mentioned, it’s a rectangle instead of the previous square. The overall size of the cooking surface is considerably larger, allowing you to cook more food at one time. For this model, the grill actually has its own separate heating element beneath the grill surface, which means that the heat is constant and evenly distributed. At first, I was concerned that making the grill into a plug-in heating element would mean that I had to be careful not to get it wet underneath, but that’s not the case. The grill plate is actually dishwasher safe, so there are no concerns about getting it wet. Gone is the large pan that previously held the grill plate. One advantage of the old pan was that it caught and held any grease that ran off the food. The new grill plate features double grease receptacles at the front of the plate where the grease is caught. This is a nice design that is still easy to clean. A new addition to this model is the BBQ griddle. This is made of the same metal with non-stick coating that comprises the grill plate. To use it, just put it right on top of the grill and now you have a flat surface for preparing foods like pancakes and strips of bacon. These types of foods couldn’t really be cooked on the previous Foodi grill, they’re easy to do on the XL Pro. The new size and shape of the XL Pro also means that the air crisp basket has a different shape. It’s wider than before, and also more shallow. In theory, that should mean that fries don’t need to be shaken as much during cooking, but I didn’t find that to be the case. The XL Pro is equally capable at air crisping as its predecessor. A nice side benefit of the new design is that the grill, griddle and crisper basket may all be stored inside the unit when not in use. That’s new to this model, as the old one could not accommodate both the grill plate and basket at the same time. This is good, since the XL Pro is considerably larger than the previous model. You’ll need more space to store this one. Grilling is straightforward. Just press the grill button, choose your heat level (low-max), and set the time. The unit preheats, then beeps and shows “add food” when it’s ready to cook. Then, just open it up and lay the food on the grill plate. Halfway through the grilling cycle, the unit will even prompt you to turn the food over. I was impressed with how well it performed, and there was no smoke at all. It did equally well with chicken, salmon and burgers, and the large size is actually good when you’re trying to cook food for the whole family. If you want to peek at the food during cooking, you can open the lid and the timer will pause--this is a thoughtful feature. The controls are basically the same as before, but a dial replaces multiple buttons from the old version. The overall look of the control panel is a bit cleaner, but functionally it’s the same. The Foodi is a versatile appliance that does a great job without heating up the whole kitchen or filling it with smoke. It handles a variety of cooking tasks well, so it gets a lot of use at our house. I was surprised that it can also bake, although I haven’t tried that yet. The cookbook that comes with the XL Pro says that you can use an 11x7 pan, but my Pyrex pans of that size don’t fit. Perhaps I need to find some smaller pans so that I can take advantage of baking. If you already have a Foodi grill, you’ll need to evaluate whether these changes are enough to justify the upgrade. The extra space, new griddle and easier cleaning are great, but performance is the same, so keep that in mind. Ninja makes some great products, and the added versatility of the XL Pro allows it to do so many things that you may just find yourself using it for almost everything. I highly recommend the Foodi XL Pro.

The Ninja Foodi XL Pro 7-in-1 Indoor Grill & Griddle with 4-Quart Air Fryer, Roast, Bake, Dehydrate, and Broil showcases Ninja's 500F grill grate (with a surface of more than 12x8 inches). You get direct, edge-to-edge heat (which is important for uniform cooking without hot or cold spots). So sear, sizzle, and crisp! With the hood down you get cyclonic air, while with the hood up you get very intense high-heat searing. It has an awesome smoke control system that also mitigates grease spatter and helps prevent grease buildup in exhaust vents. All but the base unit are dishwasher safe (the grill plates are ceramic coated and VERY non-stick). The air fryer is as good at producing crisp food as a dedicated air fryer. 7 functions that actually work – amazing! This is my 4th indoor grill and the best one! Easy to use (intuitive for cooking, and easy to clean).

The Grill & Griddle was easy to unpack, clean and set up. With the provided instructions and small recipe book, I was able to make meals right away. The flip indicator and meat thermometer also took the worry out of the cooking process. One day this week, I made all three meals in the unit and they turned out great. As mentioned, cleaning was a snap and the fan screen was also and easy rinse and reinstall. I was very happy with this unit also because of the small footprint but generous cooking surface. Cooking for 2-4 people was ideal. All in all very impressed that I could us one unit to make omelets, chicken, burgers, fries and roasted vegetables. It also looks good in the kitchen and stores easily.

Legitimately this thing almost does it all. I made pancakes the other night, they were almost perfect. I could not believe how evenly they cooked. Yes I did pancakes because they really tell you how good the heat is across the cook top. They cooked amazingly even. I was very impressed. Hamburgers all cooked and finished at the same time. All were evenly cooked, from frozen. Cheese sticks air fried were perfectly crisp and all cooked beautifully. My only issue, wish there was a better way to "shake" anything air fried. A removable handle, something would have been great. As it was, I used kitchen gloves to pick up the basket and shake it. You can do it however you see fit, kitchen tongs would work well also. My only reason to drop a star...this puppy is loud. The vent reminds me of a jet engine. While cooking, my favorite word was "What?". OK, maybe that is a slight exaggeration, it is loud when heating and moving the air. After a few minutes you almost no longer mind it. It is louder than the egg shaped air fryers. Cleanup is a breeze. The parts are dishwasher safe, I am talking about the basket, grill top, griddle top and filter. I would recommend cleaning any leftover food off before putting in the dish washer. Maybe OCD on my part, but I think it keeps the cooking area a little more pristine. Also, make sure you dry everything if there is any dampness left behind after washing. Really another great Ninja product. I can't wait to try a few other dinners.

The thing is amazing for a busy family to make a quick dinners. Having so many features in one saves a lot of kitchen real estate for a small condo counter. We were able to get rid of a few appliances because this one has so many features. I gave it four stars because I don’t like that though bottom plate has the grill. It would be easier to clean if it was flat and the grill plate came separate.

Product was not designed right, many flaws with the unit. first of all it is slanted downwards so food slides to the drip tray if grilling and when using the griddle it is the same thing, food slides to the front on unit so I had to place sliders under the front feet to make it level so food doesn't slide down.....not happy with product and of course they don't show this in infomercial...............
