If you are looking for a blender that makes great green smoothies, pass on this one. The blender does seem powerful (quite loud as well), and if you just want to make things like margaritas or smoothies with prepackaged powders and softer unfrozen fruits, this may do the job. You will likely have to peel anything you throw in because it will not fully process skins and leaves. If you want a blender to get started on the green scene (kale, spinach, leafy greens, fresh fruits/veg and herbs) you should pass on this one unless you enjoy chewing tiny bits of ingredients after it is served. I did try the blending and straining technique, but that takes forever and wastes so much you may as well use a juicer. I just bit the bullet and ordered a Vitamix, because for the purpose of everyday fresh green smoothies and raw vegan recipes, there are really only two choices out there; Vitamix or Blendtec (with Vitamix getting the slight edge on pulverizing leafy greens). Hope this helps for those looking to utilize a blender for these reasons!

I literally ruined about $40 in protein powder and fruit. This thing is incapable of producing a smooth consistency, and worse, whips so much air into the mixture, that smoothies come out like liquid foam. Just awful. I quickly realized how terrible it was and immediately ordered the KitchenAid 5-speed blender, but needed something until it came in. I'd of been better off stirring my shakes with a spoon. To add insult to injury, the lid stuck on and broke when I was trying to remove it. Just to make myself feel better, I tried the ice to snow thing and it worked well, so unless you're opening a snowball stand, I'd stay away.

Loved it - really loved it, but unfortunately the plastic components on the top of the base unit and the bottom of the jar are made of rubbery plastic that broke down and turned to bits of black plastic everywhere. Of course it happened just after the 1 year warranty was over. Ninja was unbelievably difficult to deal with and would not help me make my credit card extended warranty claim. The service was so bad that I thought I was being punked. Really disappointed with Ninja service and product durability. I guess that's why you have to pay so much for a Vitamix!

Right idea, but blades get dull during the first couple of uses. My cheap, barely working old blender does much better job, than this brand new. Dull blades do not blend the food, but chop. Smoothies, soups, drinks come out rough not smooth. If you want sharp blade you can buy in on Ninja website for $19.95 + $5.95 for shipping.

Bought it three months ago. Used it twice a day for protein shakes. It worked ok while it worked. This morning the power switch failed. Too many fail safes, locks, and buttons. These people cant even MAKE an appliance where the on button functions more than 180 times. Can't find the receipt. won't waste my time getting a piece of junk repaired, so into the trash it goes. I figure it cost me about 50 cents a shake..

The tower of blades blocks the loading of fruit and vegetables. So unless you plan on blended pure liquids this is a problem. Also once you stuff and force your load into the blender, you turn it on only to be disappointed. The blender is incapable of creating a smooth texture. Small flaky chunks are left behind. Not worth the hard-earned currency I paid. Over-priced and overrated.

My kids loved this blender for smoothies. Very safe to operate. Then my son put the pitcher on the base with the handle on the left instead of on the right. And now it won't operate AND the pitcher is stuck to the base. Called the help line, and they told me to send the blender and $75 to "repair". 3 week old blender.... Straight to the trash. Awful.

We ended up taking it back because it didn't work the way I hoped it would. I needed it to purée and make smoothies. When I tried to purée an onion it could only chop it into small pieces. When I would make smoothies the ice was crunchy because it couldn't get the ice small enough.

Bought this for my wife based on it's bragging about crushing ice. It does a poor job and will not get ice smaller than the size of snow cone chunks. My $30 Oster blender does a much better job. It's going back to the store. Food was also trapped in the handle....even after the dishwasher cleaned it.

My Kitchenaid food processor does a better job of blending than the ninja. After several uses, the seals on the top started to stick really bad making it very difficult to remove. In turn this caused the seals to start tearing. Not really sure why this blender has such good ratings from everyone else.
