    Improvement over original Wii

I bought my original Wii to use with the Wii balance board and exercise programs. After my original Wii console was stolen, I decided to wait for the release of Wii U to replace my stolen console. With the Wii U, I can still use my original balance board and all my old software by selecting the Wii icon from the Wii U menu screen. My old software does not display anything on the game pad, only Wii U software will do that, and there isn't that many Wii U titles available in the stores in my area. I had to replace my original hand held controllers with newer MotionPlus controllers. The old controllers would not work with the newer version of Wii available on Wii U. I read that a Wii U version of Wii Fit balance board exercise software will be released in February 2013. I hope I will not need to purchase a new balance board for use with that software. The game pad makes it possible to watch TV and play a game at the same time, but this is not a feature I use that much. The game pad is much easier to use than the point and click screen pointing hands available with the old Wii controllers. My old Wii console had a primitive, almost useless internet browser, but the Wii U internet browser is greatly improved. The Wii U browser makes it possible to display streaming internet content on my large screen TV. I also activated third party software for downloading movies and TV shows to my Wii U. Because of these new TV viewing options available through the Wii U, I was able to reduce my monthly cable TV bill. With these savings, the Wii U paid for itself in less that four months.

To be up front, the Wii U is not a console that everyone should run out and get now. Most likely at this year's E3 conference we will see the titles that will really sell the Wii U, because right now there really isn't much to play. As for the console itself, it's a great piece of hardware with a lot of fun and interesting new features that make it a great living room console. All the standard entertainment features are there (Netflix, Web Browser, Youtube App, Hulu, etc), but what's great about the Wii U is that it has great features for gamers. The new "Miiverse" offers gamers of all interests a new way to interact with communities that enjoy the same games they do. You can share screenshots, ask for game tips, or just have fun conversing about what gamers love: games. Another excellent feature is remote play, the ability to play many games right on the Wii U gamepad instead of on the TV. I've used this on countless occasions just to play video games in bed, sit outside and play, or to continue playing a game if someone else wants to watch TV. It's a very cool console with a lot of potential. This year we will see the announcement of games in the Mario Kart and Smash Brothers series as well as the release of a new 3D Mario adventure, a remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Pikmin 3, and Sonic Lost World, just to name a few. As I said, it isn't necessary to buy one just yet, but if you have any interest in Nintendo consoles, you'll want one before this Fall for sure.

I have to admit I did originally buy it to resell it but after seeing it only sell for 450 on ebay I decided to open it and play it. I absolutely love it. Here is what I like about it. - watching tv while playing mario on gamepad - watching youtube on tv while searching for other things to watch or surfing internet on gamepad - graphics equal to ps3 - people answer questions quickly on miiverse - 8gb is no big deal because you can add a external hard drive for very cheap. so I don't know why people are buying the 32gb - manditory update was faster than any update I ever did on my ps3 - netflix browser is better than ps3 - great price and alot of games.I bought my ps3 when it came out for 600 and it only had 10 games at the time. I can't recomend this enough and it will only get better when more apps are developed for it. I can't wait for the TVII

Purchased this unit for my brother a couple months back so that we could play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate together. Sadly, we haven't been able to play it much because of our work schedules. Interface is simple and easy to navigate. Initially, the load times were a bit too long but they did some updates to lessen it. Update times can take up to 1-2 hours depending on your internet connection as they did have some day 1 patches and have been updating consistently. Nothing different from the other consoles. Pretty much all of the apps that I use from my XBOX and PS3 are on here except or Crunchyroll...still hoping for that one. And possibly Neon Alley (both are anime streaming services) if I subscribe to it. Game selection is a little limited at the moment, but there's supposed to be a good push of top-tier titles later this year which I see as a major boost for the console going up against the XBOX One and the PS4. The system can recognize DVDs, but not Blu-rays :/ 8GB of internal memory is fine for most all applications. I've got a few 32GB flash drives if we really need more space. The system is backwards compatible with regular Wii titles. Don't expect to be able to use the Touch Pad with old titles, though. They weren't designed with it in mind and it's absurd to think that it would.

As a Nintendo fanboy, I've always favored the Big N over its competitors: SEGA, Sony and Microsoft, I had a GameCube, not an Xbox or a PS. I preferred the Wii over the obviously more powerful PS3 and X360. And now, I decided to get a WiiU instead of the PS4 or whatever comes next. I don't consider myself a casual player, nor a hardcore gamer. As an 'in beetween', I like to have fun while playing a game. I don't like to get frustrated in a certain game because its complexity, and its '12 finger +4 toes' control schemes. I really enjoyed simple games. Now, the WiiU seems to be keeping the same line of games, as well as showing a launch roster with some mature titles as well. I am currently enjoying Assassin's Creed III. Money wise, this console cost the same as a PS3, so, it comes out cheap considering it's a new system. However, if you think about the extra space you need for your new games, prepare to spend about $100 extra in an external HDD.

The Wii U is so cool. You can use the game pad to play games or watch Netflix while others in your family are using the TV for their own uses. It really takes advantage of the 1080p HD, even for games from the virtual console giving new life to old games. The Wii U can play your Wii games plus you can transfer your virtual console and wiiware titles over to the Wii U then for only about a dollar more you can even upgrade them to HD. You can use Wii accessories like the Wii remote, nunchuck, and the classic controller in conjunction with new Wii U games saving you money on expensive new accessories. Internet setup and navigation is a breeze with the new game pad. Even more players can play, for example New Super Mario Bros. U handles up to five players. I love it all.

I purchased the Wii U basic package after the holidays, and it came with a copy of Nintendo land. Saved me $50 over the Deluxe set. Set-up was quick and easy, it took about 40 minutes to update the Wii U on the first power up. The system came with an HD cable, and power cord for the gamepad. Took me about a minute to sync the original Wii controllers that I already had. Let the kids loose on the system and they played both Mario bros and Nintendo land with no problems. Setting up the internet connection was easy, and programing the TV with cable box was no problem either. I would say that the kids are happy with the purchase.

I love the Wii U but I wish they had the deluxe edition when I went to buy one; instead I bought the basic version. The deluxe version is certainly a better buy. Other than that, the system is fine, setting up parental controls was easy, and the new games are great. We only have one issue with one game locking up so far. I love the new game pad! Switching to the "old" Wii menu is kind of funky to play the old Wii games.

This system it is awesome for those who love mario or are mario fans not only because of the game but because it has internet build in it, touch screen, 1080p, and you get to use hulu plus and youtube and the best part its that people could change the channel and the game could still be played.

I got the Wii U just to play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. It was worth every penny. I love the option to play on just the control pad screen and not have to use the TV (great for when someone else wants to use the TV in the living room, or if I just want to play in bed). I hope Nintendo does something to market the system better and to get more games soon, because I really want this console to succeed!

This is a MUST HAVE for the holidays... The only thing I have that is bad is that my Wii U had bad graphics when playing WII games not Wii U games. I called Nintendo and with no hesitation they sent me out a shipping label and I sent it to them and they fixed it under warranty!

PROS: Function - nice to decide between playing on the pad controller itself or watching it on tv. And also being able to use old wii items with it. CONS: Pretty much the same as a wii, it's like buying another console except with unique controller. Costly, and new games are just as costly.

The wiiu has impressed from day 1 purchase. Right now I am playing monster hunter and some great virtual console offerings (SMW, Super Metroid, Super Ghouls n Ghosts, Mega Man X). It is a SNES powerhouse and the games for wiiu coming soon look fantastic for the nintendo fan in all of us.

I previously owned the original wii and it was a little slow and didn't have 1080p. I really enjoy playing the game on the game pad while someone watches Hulu plus on the Apple TV. This is a fun system for a single person or a family of four.

I want my children to laugh and have fun when they are playing a video game. I don't want them to kill someone or chase zombies, and I think Nintendo offers that. I like that you can see the picture on the hand held controller and the television screen.

The system is far superior to the original wii and my kid never wants to put it down. I even like it for sports games. The batter life on the hand set isn't the greatest but you can charge it every night. This was truly a "Best Buy".

The system is beautiful. Now has hd graphics. Creative ways to use the controller. Easy to use. Fun to use. Waiting for a better game selection than what's out now. No matter what, Nintendo won't disappoint!

It's great to have Mario in full HD! I was apprehensive about the controller, but it turns out to be a solid performer. Not awkward to use, but battery time could be better (about 4 hours). Streams Netflix, youtube, etc.

Better graphics. Better game play. Able to control your TV and DVR/Cable box from the Wii controller. Reaches from one room to another. Great to play on the controller while TV is off or is showing TV shows/movies.
