    Good but overpriced

This is a great controller for the Wii U, but it's insanely overpriced. $60 for one controller! That's the price of a newly released game!! I must be spoiled though. I grew up on the old Nintendo systems. NES, Super Nintendo, N64, GameCube... I remember when the games and accessories were dramatically cheaper and EVERYTHING dropped in price DRAMATICALLY after it had been out for a while. These days, you can't find a better deal on the system then $50 off. (On any of the above systems, that would have been a joke 3 years into the life of the system). And the games often don't drop in price either. So I guess this is just how things are done now. Nintendo has taken a cue from other systems and will now charge $60 just for a single controller, when they used to either give you two with the system or offer a second at a very reasonable price. Okay. Guess I have to conform if I want to play.

I knew it when I bought it, but I didn't realize I'd have such a problem with the button layout. Having the buttons all below the analog stick on the right is just impossible for me to get used to. Every single game system, including Nintendo's (when they've had it at all) have placed the buttons above the analog stick and I've become so used to it, that I simply can't use this layout naturally. If you don't have an issue with that, it seems like a fine controller. I could barely scratch a couple hours using it for AC3, and I had to drop it...ingrained muscle memory is just too deep I guess. It's too bad too, I was looking forward to it...even had Nintendo stayed with the layout for the classic controller, it would have been fine (doesn't have to mimic the 360 or PS3, just close enough that people can transition). I recommend waiting for a third party controller that uses a more standard layout.

Had to buy this for certain games on the WII U as we like the fighting games. Its kind of big and slippery to grip sometimes. The price is a bit much and never have I seen it on sale. Price should be 30. It works like its supposed to. Nothing fabulous about it. Only bought because certain games have to use this type. That's it. The off name one works just as well and only cost 30 but is smaller and could be a problem for a guy that would have larger hands. If you are a guy and have big hands, get the real wii u controller, if you have smaller hands then the cheaper priced off brand will work just fine!

The WiiU Pro controller has the same button layout as the gamepad minus the touch screen in the middle. It's comfortable to hold and holds its charge longer than the gamepad but there are some game in which you will want or need the touchscreen. This controller might be more appealing once more multiplayer games are released that use this button layout but until then it's just a comfortable alternative to the gamepad.

I purchased the Nintendo Pro Controller believing it to be essential to gameplay. I quickly discovered that not only is it not a necessity, but it is not even compatible with some games. However, on the games that it can be used with, it is very fun. It is much lighter than the WiiU GamePad and even still lighter than similar style controllers of the past. If you are buying the WiiU, you can wait to add this to your collection after you've saved up some money.

It's a solid controller, but it will likely come down to personal taste on whether to get this or not. The controller feels slightly larger than an Xbox controller, but the right stick is set above the controller. This places the face buttons toward the middle of the controller, which I just can't get used to. For the price, I'd rather just stick with the relative position of the buttons on the Wii U Gamepad.

Having used all generations of Nintendo Console controllers, I have to say that the Wii U pro controller is what I consider their attempt at appealing to the Microsoft/Sony crowd. It feels a bit awkward in hand, I wish they would've stuck to their GameCube layout, to me that was the best controller layout. Don't get me wrong it's not terrible, just honestly not my favorite. I prefer the game pad controller.

Great controller for new games on the wii u. If u want to play any downloaded games from the wii it won't work, you will need the classic controller. So there's only a few games you can enjoy with the pro model. The controller feels great and is very light, the battery life says 80 hours but I felt it lasted about half. Might be a useful controller in the future but for now I would save your money.

The controller is decent but the right analogue stick is horribly misplaced. The Pro controller should have stuck to normal convention and made the face buttons where the analogue stick is. If you really need a pro controller I would probably recommend one that is not made by Nintendo since other manufacturers would realize this grave error in design.

Battery life is suspect on this controller and there are times when the controller sends your cursor/character down the lower right corner of the screen. Reset the console and the controller is fine again, but the battery life is very frustrating. Some days, hours of a play and other days 30 minutes of play, all from a fully charged state.

The button layout is terrible but luckily you can customize what each button does in most games. If you can find a gamecube adapter go with that over this. But if you need more controllers this is not a bad option. It also holds a charge for weeks at a time with multiple hours of gameplay everday.

Not much to say about this remote. It's very light and feels a bit cheap I guess. It also uses a mini USB charging port. That's very annoying, micro USB is much more common, so this is another cord to keep track of. There's not really a whole lot of choices though, pick it up if you need it.

I thought this is a good alternative for the Wii U games, but my kids are not really use this. Instead they are using the Wii remote control. I found that some of Wii U games do not support this. If you have Wii remote control already, this may not be useful.

It's functional, does what it should. Some features of this controller don't respond the same as the Wii U game pad, though. Like how to trick jump in Mario Kart. Instead of just pulling the controller up in the air you must add a zr with the jump. (I think it's ZR)

This controller would get 5 stars like the regular Wii U controllers, but it doesn't work on every game such as Mario Party & that was extremely difficult to stomach bc why sell a controller for your console that you can't play on every game?!?

This is a good secondary controller for friends to use when playing Smash Brothers or Mario Kart multiplayer, but it is not needed nor recommended for single player experiences because the Wii U Gamepad included with the system is superior.

It's great that Nintendo has a controller like this for the Wii U. Some games just shouldn't be played with a Wiimote (or the GamePad). It does the job, but don't expect its design and ergonomics to match anything from Xbox or Playstation.

As a secondary controller it gets the job done, but with the Wii-u the pro has less meaning as the controller has less functional independence without the incubant large controller.

I don't like where the control sticks are placed. They should be in the middle like a dualshock. Still, at least it's better quality than most of the third party controllers out there.
