Equal parts challenging and rewarding. Difficulty curve really ramps up towards the end.

Good game, but needs to grow a little. Fun combat, great story and atmosphere, but clunky inventory management and an over-wrought (dragging) campaign slowed things down enough to give me pause. I'm hopeful the (hopefully) inevitable sequel will clean up some of the frustrating little roadblocks that held back this first effort. Overall a great game though, small complaints aside.

Nioh is definitely a nominee for game of the year for me. I was worried about the game being too difficult or aggravating. However this game is beautiful aesthetically and the action is clean. You truly have to master your skills to beat this game! Definitely worth the purchase!

Not as tough as the Dark Souls series, but still quite a bit of challenge. If you like Bloodborne or Ninja Gaiden this will be right up you alley.

Awesome game if your a fan of the ninja gaiden series this one is for you, although it more of an adult ninja gaiden style game, worth every penny

Very similar to Dark Souls franchise but with a little less difficulty and a Japanese setting, as expected by Team Ninja. Not much customization of your hero but there are many weapons, stances, and armors available and these can dramatically change the way the game feels.

This is a fantastic action game with amazing visuals. The story has more body and explanation than the Dark Souls series and a refreshing take on Japanese and English mythology. Controls are tight and pace is fast. If you like the Dark/Demon Souls games this is a must buy.

Nioh is very fun, but it is not an easy game. Expect a challenge in line with Dark Souls. You'll have a good time if you like that kind of game!

High intense action game. If your into slashing and smacking, this game is for you.

I like this game a lot but like i said its kinda hard. Not quite dark souls hard. Still its a lot of fun. Imho the combat is better than dark souls. I like the way that attacks change with different stances. Adds some variety to the rather limited weapon selection.

But in a good way. Do you like it hard? You should grab this game and give it a go.

I can't say much more than the official reviews have already stated. If you liked the gameplay of Dark Souls/Bloodborne games and the loot system of Diablo, then you'll most likely really enjoy Nioh. The setting, Feudal Japan, is pretty awesome as well. Would recommend!

I've been eyeing Nioh for about 3 years. I've played the Alphas and Betas. I've had really high expectations for this game. And for the most part, they've been met. Excellent combat system. Lots of variety between weapons and their stances with being able to switch at a dime. This creates a very large skill range. You can combo into stance switches and weapon switches. On top of being able to regenerate Ki with the Ki Pulse mechanic, you can really feel like a beast. The aesthetic of feudal Japan mixed with Japanese folklore looks really nice as well. The tons of equipment and gear that's in the game is really nice to look at and customize. The only real downsides are repetitive enemies and repetitive environments. If this game spent another year in the oven, I think it would be perfect. Other than that, highly recommended purchase. I'm nearly at the end of the game and I feel my thoughts are conclusive.

This is a good filler if you miss Onimusha games. Great hack and but it's not easy!

Did you love the old Onimusha games? How bout Dark Souls? If you loved both, you'll really enjoy Nioh. The battles are very challenging, and the movements and upgrades remind me a lot of Onimusha. It's got a really excellent story and beautiful graphics-- a must have!
