I am not a fan of punishment style games and this is definitely that style of game. However, the graphics are ridiculously gorgeous (dark yet realistic) and the controls are very tight. I have not beat the game and actually put it down for a bit due to frustration, but I intend on finishing it. As an example: I played Dark Souls 3 for ten minutes and took it straight to GameStop to trade it.

If you like to play games like Bloodborne or Dark Souls you should definetly play this game

I'm not a huge fan of the Dark Souls series but I decided to check out Nioh to review it on my video game podcast. Nioh has extremely compelling gameplay, a great loot feedback loop, and wonderfully satisfying challenge. Nioh is a fantastic game and a must-own Playstation exclusive!

As any other review would tell you, this is very much a mix of Dark Souls and Diablo but in a Japanese setting. The combat is much faster and there are systems like ki pulse (think active reload from Gears of War but for stamina) and multiple stances that give you a lot to think about when fighting. The 5 weapon groups all feel great to use and the level design was better than I was expecting.

I've played all the dark souls series and don't get me wrong I love them. Nioh though is amazing gem. It is a breath of fresh air for hardcore gaming. It is very hard and takes a while to master but that's what makes it enjoyable. I would highly suggest people to pick this game up.

There are other hard games but this one is all about the atmosphere. The world design is engrossing and the control you have over the main character will let you conquer the game eventually. It is incredibly fun to incrementally progress through the game as you polish your skill.

"soulslike," but not exactly. Nioh is a great game. I can't say I have any complaints and the re play factor is good too. High pace action RPG, but it's not Dark Souls. So don't go in expecting it to be. However, taking it and playing for what it is - you won't be disappointed.

Nioh is the best gaming experience I've had in a while. Rock solid gameplay compliments beautiful graphics. The soundtrack is top notch. Nioh has some similarities with Bloodborne but it plays differently to give Nioh it's own unique gaming experience. Highly recommended. Bravo!!

Never played a souls-like game before this. It's not as challenging as I thought it would be, but it's more frustrating, and more fun. Story kind of sucks. Atmosphere is great. Would recommend to anyone that is on the fence and doesn't mind difficult games.

Have not finished the game but gameplay is fun. Starting over and over from shrines with enemies responding is sort of defeating but this is typical with this game studio. Not as hard as dead souls or bloodbourne though. I like it, so far.

This game is similar to the Dark Souls games, but a little faster paced and somewhat easier, at least for me. Also has a loot system similar to Diablo ARPGs. Honestly this is one of my favorite games from the past couple of years. If you like a challenge I highly recommend it.

Souls-like game focusing more on the difficult combat over builds or fluidity. Bloodborne has the fast paced intense action, dark souls has the multiple builds and lots of armor/weapons, but this game hits a different vein with its random loot and fun, difficult combat.

If you like Dark soul series, you must like this as well. Definitely a serious game .

This game plays just like Bloodborne but even faster and much more diverse in its abilities, locations, weapons, and skills. If you like Devil May Cry, Bloodborne, and Darksouls mashed up into one game that takes place during imperial Japan but this game. It's really good.

One of the best games I've played. The graphics are great. The game play is difficult at first, but as you gain skill through playing it gets better. Bosses are hard, but you can beat them. If you are a fan of Dark Souls or Bloodborne you will love this game.

New to this type of game like the samurai appeal but def learning curve

Came from a Ninja Gaiden background and was used to the hyper fast hack and slash. Though I loved that series, it's really interesting to see a change of pace, obviously inspired by the Dead Souls series. Cool action elements, great story.
