Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with Nioh's engaging gameplay, compelling story, and immersive setting in feudal Japan. Many praise the variety of weapons and intense action, although some find the game's difficulty challenging and the initial learning curve steep. A few players noted that level design could be improved, and some found the controls initially unusual. Overall, the positive feedback on gameplay and story outweighs concerns about difficulty and other minor issues.

So what people have said this being similar to the dark souls games is true. Although not as difficult it still a very tough game. Fun if you are into that stuff.

The combat system is fluid and spot on. Team Ninja added a target system that wasn't in the alpha demo. This is an extremely useful addition that makes playing the game better. As for the mechanics, there are 3 stances and switching between them during combat is simple. There's high, mid and low stances all of which provide different attacks with each primary weapon mentioned previously. The player can have two main and ranged weapons equipped at all times, switching between the two is an easy transition in combat. There is also a Ki [stamina] bar in Nioh but unlike other games there's a mechanic called Ki Pulse which allows you to regain a lost portion of Ki by tapping a button at the right time. This is extremely helpful to continue attacking or to have the ability to move from offensive to guard against a series of attacks without running out of Ki and being dead meat. There are also Guardian Spirits who give you different stat boosts and allow you to call upon them using their strength to perform a Super [Living Weapon] for a certain amount of time. Each spirit varies and there are items to improve length and other aspects of the Spirit, or Living Weapon. While the player starts with one of, I believe, three Spirits, throughout the game you encounter many other spirits that are added to your list of Guardian Spirits accessible via Shrines. To utilize all the spirits and bonuses they offer it is wise not to ignore the Spirit stat when leveling up.

    A Challenging but Rewarding Game

This game is incredible. It is replete with Japanese folklore and mythology, difficult and maddening bosses, intense combat, and a great loot/skill building system. I am a casual gamer who doesn't usually like games this difficult, but after learning the combat system (and dying hundreds of times in the process) I I fell in love with Nioh. If you want a challenging and rewarding game, this is a great choice.

Graphics are mediocre. Decent action but very hard. Love the setting. Fun overall if your into challengeing games. Not your typical hack and slash.

This game resembles bloodbourne and the souls series in terms of its challenge and risk vs reward formula. The game play is tight and they're all kinds of weapons and armour sets to collect. The boss battles are extremely challenging but when you succeed in defeating your enemy the feeling of satisfaction and reward is second to none...if you love a challenge and want to test your skills pick this game up.

This game has been out a while, but if you are still sitting on the fence it is pretty easy to figure out if it is for you. Do You like Samurai? Do you Like Dark Souls/Demon Souls/Bloodborne? Do you like a fair challenge? Do you like being challenged to use multiple systems in your games to get better? If you answer yes to a lot of those then why haven't you bought this game?

My favorite game for this year. Awesome graphics and gameplay. Just wish William could jump and run on walls like Ryu Hayabusa. Maybe next time with Nioh 2.

This is a very good and challenging game almost similar to dark souls but still different so it doesn’t feel like you’re just playing a darksouls knock off

If you like the Dark Souls series and Samuaris/Ninjas you'll probably really enjoy this game. Combat is unique with different "stances" high, low and mid as a lot of variation and options to how you can play the game, making it a lot of fun. Although the game is probably easier than the souls series there is definitely some good challenge to be found.

'Noih' is a challenging game. It's fun but it's very much inline with the Souls series of games where a single encounter can go wrong quickly. If you want to play a good looking and challenging game this is for you.

At first glance this game has it all. Its set within a dark fictional version of Sengoku Japan, Yokai (spirit) slaying action, and a blond haired samurai. Make no mistake about it, this isn't your daddy's samurai action game. In terms of blood and gore and difficulty. One thing about Nioh, you will die in this game a lot. No, I don't think you understand you will die ALOT. This is not a hack and slash of old, one of the many things you must master is your stamina control and that still doesn't alleviate the difficulty. Lastly, there is a certain degree of frustration for this game to a varying degree. you can clear out an entire level and one death will result in you repeating the level returning to fight the same enemies you just dispatched. The game has beautiful graphics and the game mechanics are easy enough to get the hang of but far from master. my suggestion is take your time this isn't a game you'll be able to breeze thru. even on "normal"
