Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with Nioh's engaging gameplay, compelling story, and immersive setting in feudal Japan. Many praise the variety of weapons and intense action, although some find the game's difficulty challenging and the initial learning curve steep. A few players noted that level design could be improved, and some found the controls initially unusual. Overall, the positive feedback on gameplay and story outweighs concerns about difficulty and other minor issues.

One of the best PS4 games. Very challenging.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nioh is a lot of things. It's challenging. It's fast paced. It's steeped in Japanese history, folklore, and mythology. But above all, Nioh is one of the funnest games available on the Playstation 4 platform, and one of the greatest. The premise of an Irish-born Englishman in the foreign land of Japan during the 1600's alone is interesting, but what's even more interesting is that this is a person who actually existed. The combat and character progression are heavily inspired by Dark Souls, but the game does so much different that it stands on it's own. With a randomly generated loot system, six move sets per weapon type that can be expanded further, and the combination of the ninja abilities and magic, your options during combat are incredible. The gameplay is fluid, the sound design is incredible, and the environments and ambiance are very authentic Japanese. Also important to note is that Nioh offers different gameplay modes for those who prefer graphics and those who prefer framerates. Every PS4 owner should consider getting this game, and any fan of Dark Souls must get this game. It's easily one of the best on the PS4.

Dark Souls no has a more than worthy competitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nioh is an amazing experince already with tremendous upside and potential. The combat is deep, the weapons diverse, and apporaches to encounters give many options, and the experience is dynamic. Enemiesaren't always in the same place. The visuals do a great job establishing the mood as well. If you have a PS4...get this game

Solid take on the genre
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great sidestep from the Dark Souls series. The combat is familiar if you've played these, but plenty nuanced to be different. The mythos feels stronger and there's something like a real story (unlike those games) so I would say even if you've never played dark souls, give this a shot - just be ready to lose a lot.

Great game ! A game for gamer not beginners !
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a gamer and only good games can make me keep playing day by day. And this is the one keep me playing everyday. It's not so easy for the beginners so you want something easy this game is not for you. You will have to spend a lot of time on this but it's definitely great to play. Good story and great graphics.

Fun and challenging
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's always good to see something new and not just a sequel arrive on for your preferred platform. Nioh is very challenging, yet rewarding and fun. If you're a fan of the Souls series of games (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, etc.), then you'll likely enjoy this one. It's not an outright clone, but there are similarities.

More than just a Dark Souls clone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you first play the game it will seems like it's just another Dark Souls until you actually play the game. It has gameplay and mechanics that make it all its own. Add to that a rich story seeped Japanese mythology and history and this makes for a great game. If you're a Souls vet I definitely recommend this game.

What you have already heard is true
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By now you have probably read or seen reviews about this incredible game. It is often compared to Bloodborne or Dark Souls. If you liked those, you should like this too, although it is different. Be advised, however, that currently there is no versus mutliplayer. You can square off against a "revenant," which is an A.I. opponent with the build of an actual player, her equipment and stats. There seems to be co-op, though I have not personally tried it. I had this on day one and by the 3rd day there was a nice patch which follows the Bloodborne model of collecting items. Whereas prior to the patch, if you reached the limit you could carry for a dropped item, you just had to leave it, now, at least in health elixirs, additional ones collected go to storage and become available upon death without needing to farm more until your storage is depleted.

Incredible Versatile Ninja Action Adventure!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics, sounds, and action of this game are amazing. It has a variety of skills needed to complete each mission in the story line and each boss to be defeated is very challenging and unique in their own right. I definitely consider this a long term game to be enjoyed with many challenges to play through.

A Hardcore Game for the Hardcore Gamer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nioh is kind of a marriage between Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls—not as fast or as free-moving as the former and not as slow or methodical as the latter. It's made by Team Ninja of Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden, so you can expect a difficult experience still. The game is very very loosely based on the Western Samurai William Adams who traveled to Japan in the 1600s. But it also has spirits, monsters, demons—fantasy stuff. The gameplay is semi-standard action RPG—you have a few combos and a few types of attacks and a block—but revolves around switching between stance types as you battle your way through enemies whose attacks and behavior might be better matched by a stance with high damage and low speed or one opposite that with high speed and low damage. Or you might need to swap between stances constantly as you fight only one enemy or a small group. Its an interesting and complicating wrinkle in a game genre that's well-worn. A great game with a solid pedigree, it's well worth your time (a few dozen hours of it at least) and money.
