Don't over look this phone or you'll regret it.

After 2 Moto g6 plays with the same battery issues and screen flickering problems. A Moto e5 play with a dead headphone jack and a j7 that still has TouchWiz which has improved greatly over the years but not stock Android I finally decided to give this little hidden gem a go and I'm excited to say I'm finally happy!!! Normally a Qualcomm kind of guy I was a little reluctant to go with mediatek but the combination of the CPU and the well optimized software from Nokia and Google makes this device silky smooth with no lag and great battery life. And let's not forget it's an Android One device meaning speedy security patches and software updates. This phone is well worth the price and I'd even go as far to say that I'd pay for it if we're a hundred bucks more!! Nice option to set SD card as default write disk for all those that require more than 16GB of storage. Just make sure to have an SD card with good speeds.

I still remember my days in 2002 when I bought my first Nokia 3310 that lasted for almost 10yrs without any glitches, then fast forward to 2018, bought 3310 latest model for my dad and this Nokia 3.1 for my wife, it stands to its history in quality and perfection, good product with affordable price range.

Great Phone at a Great Price

Nokia 3.1 TA-1049 (United States) I received the Nokia 3.1 from Amazon on 07/13/18. Unfortunately the Amazon web site defaults to the color white which is temporarily out of stock. The colors black and blue are in stock. The price is is $159. I bought the color blue with copper accents. This a GSM (AT&T also Net10 Wireless, Straight Talk, T-Mobile...) phone only and not a CDMA (Verizon also Sprint...) phone and has all the United States bands for AT&T. I do not use T-Mobile. Some phones have only one model for example the Mi A1 (International) and some phones have two models International and United States for example Nokia 3.1, 6.1... If you try using the International phone in the United States some of the LTE bands are missing and the data rate and quality is inconsistent. The Nokia 3.1 is easy to hold and use in one hand. Call quality is excellent. I always have 4G LTE on AT&T but this depends on location. I am not a gamer but it is always a compromise for battery size, display size, pixels per inch, Random Access Memory (RAM)... I am 60 plus years old and do not have a problem with the 5.2” display, 310 pixels per inch, speed. I prefer a battery that lasts a long time not a big (heavy and thick) battery. At $159 some things are missing for example the dual rear cameras, fast charge, fingerprint scanner, and Near Field Communication (NFC) for Google Pay... This is a great phone at a great price. LTE Bands AT&T – 2, 4, 5, 12, 17 main band is 17 this depends on location T-Mobile – 2, 4, 12, 66, 71 main band is 4, and 12 this depends on location Nokia 3.1 (United States) – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 28, 38, 40? Outside Aspect ration – 18:9 narrow and easy to hold and use with one hand Back – camera 13 MP auto focus with LED flash, and microphone noise canceling Bottom – microphone noise canceling, speaker (1) with electronic boost, USB B (Old) not C (New) Display – 5.2 inches, 1440x720 HD+, 310 Pixels Per Inch (PPI) the advantages of a smaller display and lower pixel density are longer battery life Front – camera 8 MP wide angle, earpiece, Gorilla (scratch resistant) glass with round edges Left – two trays, micro SD, and nano SIMs (2) it is possible to have micro SD and nano SIMs (2) in the phone at the same time. Right – power and volume Top – 3.5 mm headphone jack Inside 1.50 GHz Octa-Core Mediatek 6750N mobile platform with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage Android One – regular security and software updates and no bloatware Battery – 2,990 mAh remember this is a 5.2 inch display with 310 PPI Bluetooth – 4.2 FM radio – earphones are required because the earphone wire is the antenna Sensors – accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity Software – Android 8.0 (Oreo) Wi-Fi – 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band 5 GHz fast) what the processor lacks in speed is made up for by the ac dual band 5 GHz if your router supports it. Average 25 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and Average 50 Mbps on 5 GHz using a range extender. Missing Camera – no dual rear cameras for bokeh (soften the background) and optical zoom Charge – no fast charge but the battery does last all day long in moderate to heavy usage Fingerprint Scanner – no fingerprint scanner you have to draw, facial recognition, or type to unlock the phone Near Field Communication (NFC) – no NFC for Google Pay...

    Great (for the price)

After I've had a few phones over $400 not being so great, I've decided to stick to phones under $200. My last phone was an Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 (4.7"). This phone is certainly comparable, but I wouldn't say it's any better usage wise, although the Gorilla Glass is nice. There is a troublesome issue people talk about on the internet where Nokia phones have a battery saver that close your apps, and you can miss notifications until you open that app again. I haven't been able to figure out exactly what the deal is with this, but I've been trying to just live with it. If that sounds like a deal-breaker, you may want to avoid the phone. But if you can live with stuff like that, this phone is relatively very cheap. The problem even exists on expensive Nokia phones, which just goes to show my philosophy of never buying an expensive phone again makes sense. At least if the phone was cheap you can say, "Oh, at least it was cheap." This phone still uses MicroSIM, and MicroUSB. The model they sent me was dual-SIM, I'm not sure it is supposed to be. Another thing I hate is how a lot of phones now are huge "clown phones" (think clown shoes). This phone is a pretty good size, very small length wise, but kind of quite tall (the aspect ratio is not normal), and there doesn't seem to be any advantage to this.

    Budget Phone

    Posted .

This is a true budget phone. Not too fast. Not too slow. If you're coming from a flag ship phone, then you'll be disappointed. I do notice the lag when opening an app or website vs the flagship devices. IE iPhone 7 plus and Google Pixel XL. Camera is decent. Not the best. Even a small movement would create a blur image. The antennas is decent. Most of the time service is good. The build quality is probably the best aspect with this phone. Great price for a budget phone. Don't expect too highly and you won't be disappointed. I would only recommend if you are trying to keep it under $170 and a phone to dispose within a year or two.

    Nice Cell Phone

    Posted .

I actually like this phone now. I bought the exact same phone about 3 months ago and it was horrible! Sound quality was very poor, the touch screen worked less than half the time.. could never retrieve phone calls, phone froze up a couple of times. In a nutshell.. it was horrible!!! I guess it was a godsend that the screen cracked after dropping it on a carpeted floor. That phone was SO slippery!!! Anyway... I did a lot of research and being a Nokia lover, I decided to replace the phone with the exact same model. What a difference!!! This new phone, which is the exact same phone is great! The sound quality still isn't perfect but it's manageable and better than my previous purchase. I've had the new phone about 3 weeks now and so far I'm pleased. I immediately bought a case for the phone. I love the size of the phone as it fits perfectly in my hand. I would recommend this phone, but only with a phone case.. as this phone is almost impossible to hold due to the back side being so slippery. This is the Nokia 3.1 black phone.

I have been very pleased with the Nokia brand, since making Windows Phones previously, and now android phones. I hope more is on the way with a MPS (Multiple Platform System). This 3.1 though very sleek and easy to get in and out of your pocket, is also surprisingly fast. I really enjoyed this phone.

This phone operates good for the price if not better than other budget phones out there. The battery duration is great, and the overall operation of the phone is good. Camera quality is good too.the only negative thing about this phone is that if you use other emails other than your gmail, you will have to download an email app to access other emails. Other than that this phone is a good buy.

For the money, this is a great phone. You have use of two SIM card slots, one 3G one 4G LTE. UNLOCKED for any GSM carrier. And this is what I love best...the hot spot feature is unlocked as well...you can use the data plan for your phone and not worry about being charged for it by your carrier. All around great little phone.

It's definitely a low end phone but very compact and performs well for this non-demanding user. Limited notification options, though there may be apps for that.. Professional reviewers said it should be reliable and receive updates for two years.
