Really wished this had been better

Had the case for two weeks and the leather tore. I really liked the case - just beginning to look good. I debated on getting a replacement thinking I may have gotten a defective one but decided to go with Apple's leather case instead. I was not hard on this case. It was in my pocket with nothing else when it ripped. Maybe I would recommend

Less then 15 days of owning this case the thing started falling apart by the bottom charge area the leather started detaching from taken in and out of pocket! The leather also started bubbling up by the lock button, emailed nomad didnt reply for two days all they said was it's not covered! I advise not to waste 40$ on this junk!

Great initially, but not so great now....

    Posted .

I loved this case at first, best case I've ever bought. Was very happy with how it was wearing and the slight patina it was developing....but.....about 3 weeks of use and this morning I take it out of my pocket and see a large, dime sized hole is in the back. I never dropped it and it's never been in my pocket with anything else, zero reason at all for the rip. The only thing I can think of is that it may have gotten hung up on a zipper once when I put it in my coat pocket? Even if I carried it every day with keys and what not it still shouldn't rip like it did, very disappointed. I'm waiting to hear back from Nomad customer service so I may amend this review later. I'll reserve judgement until I hear back from Nomad customer service, but I'm pretty discouraged by what happened today. Just sitting in my pocket, no keys or drop or anything. No idea what happened but there's a nice, big hole where the leather ripped and it's only a few weeks old. I really loved this case up until today, and I know leather will wear but it should rip like this. I could understand if I had it in the bottom of a bag or in a pocket full of keys...but it wasn't anything like that so why did it rip? I emailed Nomad this morning so I'll let y'all know what their response is, I asked for a replacement or a full refund. Sent me bad replacement & won't help

    Posted .

I bought the dark grey/black version of this case, and at first I liked it. But after about a month the leather started to separate, so I asked Nomad about it and they sent me another since it has a year warranty. I was happy! But then the second case within about a month was by far worse than the first. Tons of faulty areas that were falling apart for no reason! Then I emailed them saying it was a bad product, and they said "we only replace it once, sorry." And then ignored me when I said that their warranty section says nothing about "one time only replacement." All it says it that it is covered under a year warranty. If the damage was my fault, fine, I get it... But when it's because the product was faulty, then you should help me. I am very upset with them for this, and I reccomend not getting the case since both of mine lasted about a month. And by the way, I take care of my stuff, and have a desk job, so that's even worse that it couldn't handle that.

Nice Look & Feel But With A Drawback

    |
    Posted .

The feel of the case is good. The leather adds a nice texture and grip to the phone. The leather also feels like it will last. The look is nice; especially that it does not have any Apple branding on the back. However, it is a little bit bulkier than the Apple brand leather cases. It is hardly noticeable by looking at it, but if you do a comparison it can be seen. The phone is fairly easy to put in the case. It is pretty straightforward; however, I warn you, if you ever want to take your phone out, it can be quite difficult. The edges of the case are kind of sturdy and don't allow for much bend or flexibility, so when trying to pry your phone out from the case, it feels like your phone is bending, not the case! There is a lot of wrestling with the phone/case on my part every time I try to take it off. So, if you are a person that rarely takes their phone out of their case, this is a great option for you. But, if you are a person that frequently, this case may frustrate you.

Took a while to position, but okay since then

When I first tried to put my phone in this case, all the phone's buttons did not set into the case perfectly and the hold and volume down buttons were stuck in the pressed positions. I had to remove the phone a few times and then put it back in and gently bend the edges of the case outward until the buttons were properly aligned. That was about two weeks ago, and since then the case has been great despite heavy use. There are a few deep depressions and dings in the leather, but that is to be expected. The case appears to do a great job of protecting the back and sides of the phone without adding too much bulk. It's hard to tell for sure, but I believe that the sides even extend just a tiny bit past the front face of the phone so that when you put it face down on a table the screen does not make contact.

Good Choice for a Leather Case

    |
    Posted .

If you're looking for a leather case specifically, this one fits the bill and does it pretty well for less than the price of an Apple-branded leather case. It looks pretty fly and fits well. Had room for a magnetic plate underneath for a car mount as well. That said, I dropped this case once on the sidewalk and, while my phone survived just fine, being leather the case was scuffed deeply. Entire slices of leather came right off the case. I attribute part of this to the slipperiness of the leather, which is a bit of an issue with the larger 7 Plus phone. While I originally liked the look, I've decided to move to a more protective (and more lightweight) case.

    Beautiful Case

I really like this case. It is made to beat up and look nicely. I ended up treating the leather because if a drop of liquid hit the leather it really discolored it. It seems to be wearing down nice. I did drop the case and found the leather is really this and it tore. With a little glue I fixed it but it doesn't have the druability you think you are getting with the leather. This leather is paper thin and mainly about looks. If you need a case that will be durable and last a long time for you this one may not be the one for you. If you want a case the beats up and still looks nice though light use this may be the case for you..

    Nice Lightweight Case

    |
    Posted .

I don't like big bulky cases, so I wanted a smaller slim case, this case delivers on that, the leather helps with grip on the phone and looks quite good. Only issue that very well could be a pro is that since it is leather it shows wear after use, so the leather will change colors in spots and have little nicks and scratches. Nothing terrible, and honestly gives the leather more character. All in all, it's a great case if you want a lightweight case that is genuine leather.

    Attractive, yet questionably durable

The Nomad case does indeed have real leather. That means it has the same shortcomings as real leather goods do - it can be scuffed and scratched even with fingernails. On the other hand, a good rub with your bare (clean) hands can fade a lot of the damage. It's sorta self-healing in this regard. Mine has withstood a few drops and after a few days the marks are gone. At the same time, I somehow managed to put a really deep scratch on it with my fingernail and that's not going away.

Nice leather case at a good price

I wanted a leather case for my new iPhone 7 Plus, but didn't want to pay $49. Okay, this case was $40, but $9 is $9. It's not as refined as Apple's case but is a little sturdier and certainly more protective, especially along the bottom. The grip is good. Not the best but good. It's already picking up some nice patina after only 6 weeks. I've treated it with some Kiwi Leather Treatment. One niggle: I have to use my pinky nail to toggle the silent switch n and off.

very nice leather case that ages well

Coming from someone who loves the apple leather case, I think this case is much better. Better coverage since the apple leather leaves the bottom exposed. The leather feels great and grippy, quality feels better, and it ages well. Only negative some may not like is the leather shows scratches and blemishes easily...I personally like the aged look. You cant go wrong with this case if your looking for a slim stylish case that gives you decent protection.

    A solid case

This is a beautiful case that, like advertised, develops a great deal of character over time and usage. It offers adequate protection in its slim profile, extending just enough to keep the camera lenses off of any surface the phone is set on. It's front lip also keeps the screen protected, though I would recommend the pairing of a stick on tempered glass screen protector to be used in conjunction. As long as you aren't unduly rough on your phone, this case is a good meld of form and function. It also has the added benefit of its interior being lined with a sued-like microfiber that I'm hoping will be kind to the scratch prone surface of my jet black iPhone. However, I cannot speak to the validity of this hope as the case seems nigh on impossible to take off without a substantial effort. I attempted once, but quickly decided it wasn't worth the time. If you are the kind to constantly set and remove your phone from its case, then this might not be for you. Yet; the case is so striking to look at and comfortable to hold, I can't imagine why you would wish to.

    Great look and feel

I purchased the Nomad brown leather case for my iPhone 7+. When I first put the case on my phone, I was worried about the texture and how it would hold up with daily use. it has been aging well and feels even better than when I first put it on. The case has a slight lip on the front which protects the screen when placing the phone screen down on a flat surface. The case still leaves a thin and comfortable shape to the phone and the cut-outs are very clean. The leather allows for a nice grip, but still gives enough slide for putting the phone in my pocket. I would recommend this to others and even purchase again for my next phone.

Great case. My only complaint is it scratches easily. Not a big deal, I should have expected leather to scratch. I'm looking for a conditioner to hide the scratches. Still looks good and protects my iPhone 7 plus.

Hi there! The leather is susceptible to scratches as first when it is new and soft but once it starts to patina, those scratches should buff right out! Also, as it experiences more wear, the case will be much more resistant to scratches. I hope that case is still working out for you :) nomadgoods

    Decent alternative to Apple's offering

    |
    Posted .

High quality leather in a more protective case than Apple's version because it covers up the bottom, unlike Apple's version. The buttons are hard to press initially but they break in nicely. The case does scratch easily as well, so depending on how you look at it, will either add character to the case or make it uglier

It is a good, simple case. Best Buy won't publish a review unless it is at least 50 characters long. So, it's a good, simple case. I have no idea what else might be said about it.

This was a really nice leather case. I liked how it aged and took wear and seemed to look nicer with time, unlike the apple leather cases. However, the plastic frame doesn’t seem as sturdy as the apple leather case, and it broke pretty early on.

I don't like big cases, and I like to keep the integrity of my device. It's slim and provides most protection needed. I had a similar case with the iPhone 6 Plus and never had an issue. I actually appreciate how the case "wears" after awhile.
