If you are computer savvy, this review may not be for you. If you are NOT computer savvy, PLEASE TAKE NOTE!! I bought this to install on my brand new Mac. If you buy this product- MAKE SURE you have typed in the FULL “https://www.” address for Norton when you are installing this on your computer. Unfortunately, I did not know to do that, and it linked me to a scam site (that looked legit) and I proceeded to get hacked. The scam site told me my “product key” was in Error, and to call a number for help. After I called the number, they then proceeded to “help resolve the error” by getting access into my computer, and then they told me there was a Trojan horse and 20+ criminals were using my IP address to commit crimes so it wouldn’t be traced back to them. They told me if I waited any longer to resolve this issue, that there would be no way anyone could help me, and that my SSN, bank cards, etc, had all been jeopardized. They then “offered a solution” to correct the problem by peddling fake firewall security and tech support starting at $199 + $20 service fee + sales tax. Thankfully, I did not fall for it. And thankfully, being that it was a brand new Mac, none of my sensitive info was stolen (thus far, to my knowledge) and the Geek Squad helped me resolve this issue by wiping the Mac clean and installing new security. (Great customer service at Geek Squad, btw.) But I can tell you that what happened to me was an absolute NIGHTMARE that lasted the entire day until I safely felt that the issue had been resolved. And it could have been MUCH worse. If you aren’t computer savvy, I would 100% recommend that you just have the Geek Squad install anti-virus software, and get a crash course from them on how to avoid these types of situations- because this seemed like a simple error that could have been VERY devastating. I pray God has mercy on these hackers/scam artists. And BE CAREFUL, if something seems off- it is!!! This was a very frightening lesson to learn, and I’m sharing it so hopefully no one else will have to go through it. And I returned this product and will NEVER purchase Norton again.
