Good for sound filtering

If you're noticing that you're starting to miss bits of conversation, these earbuds might be for you. They definitely aren't a replacement for medical grade hearing aids, but they do seem to be suitable for mild hearing loss.
The app was easy to download and the earbuds paired with my phone easily enough. There are several settings dependent upon your location and how much sound you want to let in. I've noticed in louder environments (the restaurant setting for example) the earbuds didn't seem to amplify speech so much as filter out background noise, making speech easier to understand. If you're struggling with clarity and not volume, these may be a great alternative.
There were several times I used these just to block out noise in places I find overwhelming. They actually worked better for that purpose than for a hearing aid replacement. You can also use these as regular earbuds. The sound is just okay. I would use them in a pinch, but they won't replace my regular earbuds for music and videos.
The battery life seems about on par with regular earbuds I got about 4 hours out of the case. The biggest drawback with these earbuds is the size. If you are self-coscious about needing hearing assistance, these stick out quite a bit. They look like earbuds and not hearing aids, so people may skip talking to you because they don't recognize these as an assistance device.
Overall, I think these are great for a certain audience, as long as you keep your expectations in check.

Good idea, poor execution

I played rock drums for many years without proper ear protection, so I’ve noticed a significant decline in my hearing in recent years. I was hoping these earbuds would help amplify some of the sounds that I’m missing out on.
Out of the box: After trying on all 6 pairs of ear tips looking for the best fit, I settled on the medium ear tips that were originally affixed to the ear buds.
I gave them a full charge that only took a few minutes, then downloaded the Nuheara IQbuds² Max App from the Google Play Store. After quickly pairing them with my Android phone, the App gave a notification indicating the buds needed a new 10-minute firmware update [v. 3.3.1]. While it updated, I found it very helpful to watch a few of the video tutorials found on the Nuheara website home page (scroll down to the very bottom & find the “Videos” link at the bottom right under “Learn More”).
Next, I completed the Ear ID hearing test. While this auditory evaluation isn’t nearly as sophisticated, detailed, or as accurate as an audiogram performed by a licensed doctor of audiology, it still provides a modest baseline for the device so that the amplification, noise canceling, & microphones can be adjusted to more closely align w/the needs of your particular hearing profile. For example, I learned that I apparently need some amplification in my left ear when it comes to the higher frequencies.
As you drill down into the App, there are 7 Location settings that help tailor the buds’ amplification/enhancements to fit your surroundings so that you don’t have to try & adjust the individual components for each environment. Locations include: “Workout,” “Street,” “Home,” “Office,” “Restaurant,” “Driving,” & “Plane.” You can choose up to 4 of these categories as your favorites, but you always have access to all 7 classifications as needed. Within each category, you can drill down further to click on “Volume,” “Sinc (Speech-in-Noise-Canceling),” “World EQ,” & “Focus.” You can also adjust a slider to increase “Sinc,” or recognition of surrounding ambient noise vs. direct speech; adjust bass vs. treble (World EQ), or “Focus,” or sounds in front of you in noisy environments vs. hearing from all directions equally.
In summary, my experience w/these ear buds/amplifiers haven’t been what I’d hoped for.
1. From the beginning, I noticed a prominent air rush/low hissing sound in the right ear bud, no matter how securely I fitted the ear tip into my ear & regardless of the setting or volume chosen.
2. When I raised a spoon or fork to my mouth to eat, a high-pitch feedback tone occurred in my left ear bud. I don’t have any silver or other heavy metal amalgam fillings.
4. I did not find that the “Sinc” or particularly the “Focus” feature made any appreciable difference. Many people of all ages & backgrounds complain that it can be quite challenging to make out what people are saying in crowded, noisy restaurant or party environments where there’s significant ambient or background noise. These buds didn’t provide any noticeable correction for this common problem.
5. The overall takeaway on sound quality was that it sounded tinny & artificial, no matter how many combinations I tried.
In my estimation these are decent ear buds, though they’re a bit bulky, & I’d like an EQ for music playback. But they miss the mark as personalized amplified/enhanced hearing devices. Unless the design engineering & technology improves, I think Nuheara is striving for a bridge too far, trying to be good at 2 very different things w/1 device. I really wanted to like these because I really admire the concept behind them. The idea is good, the execution is not.

Noise: Hear clearly or drown it out

These buds are great for music listening, active noise cancelling, and hearing enhancement!
There are a couple different hearing modes like restaurant, driving, and home settings to block out specific noise and enhance others. At home, the ambient sounds like the dog walking around, heating and cooling HVAC fan sounds, and outdoor noise are greatly reduced while voice or tv sounds are greatly enhanced and in focus. If you want very quiet, tap the right ear once and “world off” is activated voiding ambient sounds while significantly reducing voice.
I didn’t know what to expect with music quality but am blown away by the sound quality. Bass is deep and the highs are high. Very crisp sounding. With music on, combined with the active noise cancelling, you won’t hear anything but your music. Pause your music and boom, sound around you is instantly enhanced again. They also come with the extra different size ear plugs to get the perfect fit and seal to maximize sound and noise cancellation.
Lastly, the call quality was also clear and working from home on a phone call with the ability to drown out unnecessary sound when I’m trying to focus is huge for my ADHD brain. I love love love the multi purposes of these. So functional for many aspects of my life!

The ear buds are very comfortable. Had to choose the correct ear cushions that fit snug in the ear to hear the difference. They are light and don’t hurt my ears. Nice to use while listening to music as well as trying to hear someone speak from across the table. The app is easy to use and able to tweak as needed. I would highly recommend these earbuds to anyone who needs some assistance with hearing.
Sound quality and build quality is top notch. Case and charger is a premium feel.
