It's the upgrade you didnt know you needed. Stop waiting and invest in a better picture, better sound, and overall better streaming experience. Went with the pro for our main entertainment room and the tube for the bedroom. Worth every penny!

Audio passthrough is the killer feature

I generally love the Shield. The best feature for me is that it does audio passthrough. I also have an Echo Cube, but that converts and downgrades audio to compressed Dolby Digital plus versus the full Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD. The Shield passes these better formats straight to the receiver. Pros: - It passes the full audio to the receiver. - It's the best option I've found for Emby. - I can connect my regular, Bluetooth headphones to it when I need to keep things quiet. - You can add an SD card to expand the storage, which I needed to do even though I had only apps and no media or games on it. - It tries to recommend shows from any of the apps you have connected. It's not perfect yet, but I appreciate the effort. Cons: - Sometimes it's unresponsive when trying to switch applications. I'm not sure if it's waiting for something on the network or if it's one of the apps.

Good choice if the Shield Pro isn't available

I purchased one of these since at the time the Shield Pro was on backorder. Easy to use and load programs on. It does seems to buffer more than the Shields Pro i eventually got does and isn't as quick to process actions, but it's definitely a good choice for a streaming box compared to all the others I've used.

    Best streaming stick/device

The NVIDIA SHIELD TV is honestly the best streaming device you can buy. This cheaper tube version is good enough if you only need it for streaming (and not serving) content. The AI upscaling feature is amazing for SD content on a 1080p screen, or SD/HD content on a 4k screen.

Mixed emotions quality of the streaming is good but it does seem to have some issues with freezing up. Also having issues with the sound bar. I have tried them all and for the money this one would not be my first choice. I have Apple, Roku, amazon and this was my most recent try.

Picked up for family member. Very happy with the Nvidia Shield products and own both versions. Latest update helps with some issues. Much better streaming device and very versatile in use.

I had first generation shield tv and have always been a fan. This version is greatly improved especially the remote. If you like snappy streaming devices you can't go wrong with Nvidia shield tv.

Comes with standard Android TV. Cluttered interface if your not used to it. The cigar shape is a little different, especially trying to figure out where to place it. What sets this streamer apart is the AI enhancement which upscales video to 4k. This is a great device.

I've been a cord cutter for 4 years, but I haven't always liked any of the devices I've had. We also have a 4k fire stick on the other tv, but this does everything, especially if you don't have a smart TV. Easy to download any app. I am glad I purchased this, and highly recommend for anyone!!!

The Shield, albeit a bit pricey is the best entry level Android TV device on the market. It's fast and it's able to handle the typical video requirements of the average cord cutter. I recommend it to anyone looking for an Android compatible streaming device that does more than Chromecast.

This is the absolute best TV interface. I get rid of the one that comes with the TV (Roku, Samsung/Tinzen, LG/WebOS) by having it auto-select the Nvidia Shield. The new remote w/ it's location finding feature is great, but the removable back is starting to slide off easily.

This is the gold standard for streaming devices. The AI upscaling definitely lives up to the hype. I would rate this five stars but the home page is just too busy for me. I prefer simple and straight forward. You can make a few adjustments regarding this, but not enough for my taste. So I'm giving this a 4.5 star.

The Shield allows me to stream nearly all services vi Android and I can play many games if I want but it also lets me connect my home network shares easily to play movies and music via Kodi or other media players.

I have a Samsung TV, but it's not based on the android OS. I installed the NVIDEA Shield system and in minutes I had an android system. I watch cable TV on HDM1, but all else on HDM2 which the NVIDEA system is attached to. Easy set-up and easy to use.

Used this to replace a old Apple TV and I am very impressed. It is very fast even faster then my 4th gen Apple TV when it comes to starting Netflix and Amazon video. Integration with My Control4 system was flawless and IP control works great.

Easy setup. Works well with Emby, Kodi and Plex. Voice control with Alexa and Google Home work as expected. The only thing I find missing is a builtin mic. Being able to install apps from the Google Play Store instead of side-loading, like the Amazon Fire TV devices is better in terms of security.

With this device I can now just focus on the TV display, features and not worry about the built in apps. The little remote works so well I got a 2nd one for my older shield tv. Sine I don’t game on it I didn’t get the pro version since I own the gaming version as well.

We decided to become cord cutters and originally purchased Roku's for all of our televisions but then ran across the Nvidia Shield so we purchased one to compare the two. Well needless to say, we loved the Nvidia Shield so much that we have so far purchased three and plan on purchasing more for our remaining televisions in our home. If anyone out there is looking to do the same, we recommend you buy the Nvidia shield. Sure they cost more, but they are so much better. We hope they lower the prices though ; )

This thing flies through the channels and has almost no buffering at all. I am still shocked how fast it can pick up from changing the channel with no buffering or quality loss using Prime or You Tube tv. This thing blows away a fire stick\fire tv when it comes to performance.
