Best streaming device I have used
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to use. Picture quality is fantastic and no lag with use. I like it better than firecube and roku. Remote is easy to use. Only negative is Netflix button too easy to accidentally press (Wish it wasn't there) and wish it had channel up and down buttons. Positives far outway negatives and images better on oled TV with this using YouTube tv

AI Upscaling is great
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned 2 of the 2017 models and a lot of people have with the differences between 2017 and 2019 models. The big thing is support for upscaling and dolby vision. The upscaling really is pretty good. It is subtle, and some content looks worse, but most content looks crisper and more vibrant (in a good way). for more, just search "2019 vs 2017 shield"

Great Android TV Box
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Shield TV Pro 2019 to use as an Android TV box and/or Plex server. To summarize, it works great as a TV box, somewhat less well as a server. As a tv box, it is very quick and responsive. The remote control works much better than I anticipated. I hadn't realized the volume control on the remote would work as an IR volume control for our older LCD TV, so that was a good thing to learn. The box has been very stable, with few if any reboots required in streaming box service. It also works well as a Plex or Emby client. When I tried to use it as a Plex server, I was ultimately mostly successful, but had several issues getting it going satisfactorily. Those were mostly around being visible on the network so I could copy media files to the external USB drive that was attached to the Shield TV Pro as external storage. There were also issues with the Shield not responding to requests from clients while the Shield as sleeping: from what I've seen online, some folks have that issue, and others don't. I haven't seen a true fix, and I cannot say what ultimately got mine working reasonably well. After I ordered a NAS to be the media server, the Shield finally started responding properly to client requests even when sleeping. Just before the NAS arrived, the Shield was working mostly OK as a server, but still had two issues: it never allowed the external USB hard to drive to sleep so that it was always spinning and hot. Secondly, after the Shield TV awoke from sleep, the external hard drive was not accessible from the LAN: you could see and access the Shield internal storage, but it was as if the external drive was invisible to the network, but still usable by the Shield TV. Only a reboot would resolve that to make the drive accessible on the network to permit media files to be copied. I have not attempted any gaming on the Shield TV, so have no comments on that function.

Solid 4 star product
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the functionality of this - I wanted an Android box with enough guts to be a Plex server, a streamer for Netflix and Hulu, and a good box for HD Homerun. It does all of that, for the most part. The setup is very, very fussy. It is suggested somewhere that it should be wired to your router for use - for me this turned out to be required because it didn't give me my 5GHz band option at all, and didn't want to connect to the 2.4GHz band, though it would eventually. I left it wired permanently to avoid any further frustration. It is a champ as a Plex server - no issues playing media from my NAS. Netflix is peppy. The HD Homerun app works as it should. But, Hulu is a pain to use. The app works but most of the time shows load audio with no video and I have to wait a couple minutes for it all to sync up. Don't know if it is just me. I've heard that may be a Hulu-Android issue. The user interface is familiar and easy to navigate. The remote is pretty great. The buttons are backlit when used and it has a nice heft. it isn't flat, so if you go reaching for your remote in a pile of remotes, you'll find it easily enough. The biggest drawback is the price - it seems really high for what it is. I find value in the all-in-one usefulness, but not everyone will experience this. And since there's no controller bundled anymore, the price is a significant disappointment.

BEST Media Box on the MARKET HANDS DOWN!
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down the BEST media box on the Market.. Runs circles around Fire Sticks, Rokus and the Apple TV unit. The secret is the GPU in this being a 256 core Beast.. Yes 256 individual cores handling the Graphics. I do not game on this as I have a PS4, so it is strictly used as a Media player.. Connected to my 2TB Synology NAS with all my Videos and Music but also does all my streaming applications, Netflix, Prime, HBO, Starz, HULU... I run KODI on it everything!. I have a firestick 4k and have compared the identical 4k/Dolby Vision content on my 75 Sony 950G TV and its a night and day difference with the Nvidia shield.. You can see the quality. It also has this AI enhancement which can make low res content look sharper and has a line divider that shows the difference of the enhancement. The only downside and I know why is you cant get the Apple App or the AT&T/Directtv APP.. the reason being if it did no one would buy any other media box.

Even better than I'd hoped
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best performance for streaming media, console quality gaming and a comfortable remote. Support for console gaming controllers and native cloud streaming for many Steam, Epic and other digital games from your collection with an Nvidia Now subscription. More than worth the premium cost. Oh, and 4k artificial intelligence upscaling and Dolby Atmos too!

The Shield Pro is a streamer’s dream!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fast device! Had it fully up and running in about 15 or 20 minutes. Easy to set up. Streams well! I’m not using the built in Plex server yet, but will in the future. The remote with back lighting is a very nice accessory! Nvidia really outdid themselves on this one. The Shield Pro really is the king of streaming devices! I highly recommend it!

Bought For Streaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Almost two years into owning the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Pro, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! One standout feature for me is using my phone as a remote control. I believe this streaming/gaming device to be the best in its class, while remaining affordable. This thing is a must have!

Still the best streamer out there
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new remote for the 2019 edition of the Shield TV is a god send. The volume buttons and remappable Netflix button are great new features of the remote. I hated the old remote's touch slider for volume control. Anyways, the streamer itself is great. You can play games remotely like Stadia but for free and it's still the most powerful streamer on the planet.

Best Streaming Device
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best streaming device you get. Does everything you need and does it quickly. Great steamer, all the apps with Google TV, and supports Dolby Vision and Atmos. 4K up scaling works well. Very fast and I love the remote control. Plays Android and GeForce Now games. Worth the price unless you are locked into the Apple ecosystem.

Pricey but Powerful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really happy with the speed, AI upscaling works very well and emulation can handle any PSP/N64 games with no problem, as well as some Gamecube titles. The price for this 2019 model is slightly dated by today's standards, but if you're looking for the most powerful and capable version of Android TV, look no further.

LOVE IT. Great for gamers.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent for emulation. I also have a Shadow PC and it's amazing to see it/work off of a 75" screen when I have to do "Windows" stuff. Can also play games installed on your Shadow on the Shield though with latency YMMV depending on a TON of factors. Storage is expandable a few ways (I have 500GB adopted storage which becomes "a part" of the Shield - can't be read by a computer any longer - and 1TB NVME ssd which is removable that you can add whatever you want to). Can use many different controllers with it. Again, YMMV. Having good luck with the PS4 dualshocks both bluetooth and wired. The remote is very well constructed. The app has a "find my remote" feature wherein the remote will beep so you can find it. Have used this already a few times in a month. This model has 2 usb ports (the tube does not) making adding a few peripherals a bit easier (mouse, keyboard, controller, or the like). Product has a great support system on Reddit for any questions, so not sure what else I could add that can't be found there or Youtube. Price may be steep for some as a pure media center considering other options, but this is great for gamers. Glad I made this purchase.

Expensive and not for everyone but still the best.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like Google TV a $50 Chromecast 4k will probably work. But if you game (especially with Nvidia) or want to run Tivimate, Kodi, or Plex server, this device is the best bar none. The ability to add storage plus great video processing really make this the best streamer out there. I have tried Apple and it's pretty great but doesn't have the full Google Play store or a great backlit remote. Yes, it is almost a 5 year old device but it still produces a better picture than the native upscaling on a lot of premium TV's. Of course, low quality sources and low quality TV won't benefit much. Also, it still is Android and every now and then it does something weird and needs a reboot.

Can't Decide ?
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay so this thing is the streaming box to get. AI Upscaling. This thing makes whatever content you watch amazing. While the list of movies streaming in 4K continues to grow, a lot of content is still only in 1080p. This matters when you have a 4K television as the difference in image quality is apparent. The upscaling on this thing is no joke. That demo video they have is not an exaggeration. And for that alone I would buy it. Not to mention an amazing remote that has a locator and backlight. The software integrated with NVIDIA is a win too. Just go ahead and buy it. I seriously doubt you will regret it. I wish I had got this one first before going thru Firesticks, Rokus, and an Apple TV. ATMOS ✅ VISION ✅

Streaming and More
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had initially bought this for Nvidia Gamestream and while good on it's own the Streaming portion of this device is excellent. The AI up-scaled picture looks amazing on my 4k display and is much fast and more reliable than any other streaming device. If you're deciding between this or the Apple TV then get this since you can do much more and have AI up-scaling technology built in. The only downside is how ingrained Google is in this device. If Nvidia could create their own Android OS without Google and allow for easier APK downloads and such that would make this the perfect all-around device. For everyday consumers this wont be an issue, but for more privacy-focused individuals I would say this is a pretty big setback. I also hope the next version of this device gets a redesign, it reeks of early 2010's Razer gaming peripherals.

Best Streaming Device On Market
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are sleeping on this device, don't any longer. Yes it may require a few more reboots than Roku or AppleTV, but for audiophiles and videophiles, this is the superior device. It can output true Bitstream audio formats, as well as Dolby Vision. The Roku has Bitstream but mixes in their compression algorithm. AppleTV is PCM only. Picture quality with the Shield is lightyears above Roku and AppleTV. Plus once you learn to use Plex and Kodi, you will never go back.

Skip all others and go with THIS device!!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently became so fed up with Spectrum's cable TV constantly crapping out that I dropped them. I went with Hulu + Live TV and originally bought a Roku Ultra to support it. I also have an XBOX series X but both devices yielded results that were OK, but very jittery. I am an IT consultant and my home network is in perfect working order. Instead of blaming Hulu, I returned the Roku and bought the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro and will never look back. The quality is just stunning with the AI Upscaling. The install and setup took a total of five minutes. I am so thankful for this device (and Hulu) for helping me shed my cable TV oppressors!!!!
