Nividia Shield with Android
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the Shield now for a few weeks. So foar it has worked great with no issues. Roku and ChromeCast generally have a easier to use interface, but you can do so much more with it. Makes for a great gaming console or a Plex server if you're willing to jump through the hoops and buy an external hard drive. My Shield is hardwired to my internet so i cant speak to its wifi capabilities. Has Dolby Vision and HDR but so does Roku. Great device but if you dont plan on gaming or setting up a plex server, i would recommend stick to a Roku or ChromeCast and save yourself a few dollars. I own all 3 devices and the competitors are far easier to use right out of the box of you're not a tech savvy person.

Great for streaming and file playback
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is great the scaling can really good ,but sometimes ok. You get full speed ports on this so real usb 3.0 and real gigabit Ethernet which is excellent. They remote lights up which is a feature I sorely miss on modern devices. It also allow you to find the remote with the app which you will need to do as it is hard to find being matte black. The android apps are not always better than the roku's ,but you can get them or chrome cast from your phone. Also, if you are not a plex user I would choose this for plex support as I found it ok at best personally. Also, the old game exclusively for this device no longer work so... This is expensive ,but nvidia has been supporting these for year so I am not to worried. Also, if you buy the controller you can mirror the roku head jack feature. You can also just use bluetooth headphones which is not possible with a roku.

Still #1
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shield Pro TV (2019) is simply the best streaming box available despite its age. The AI upscaling and the dolby vision/atmos were new features that warrant me to upgrade from the (2017) version. It also have little small updates within particular apps that I've noticed thats not in the 2017 version. I'm happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend!

Fills the need and performs flawlesslyl
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The box is sleek, small, and looks good. The UI takes a coulple of uses to get accustomed to. As with all android devices, there are alot of options to personalize the experience and how Shield interacts with the tv and soundbar. The backlit remote with built in remote finder has already been very useful. If you do not have a premium HDMI cable, seriuosly consider getting one so you can fully utilize the high definition experience. I got this because our samsung smart tv is no longer able to navigate the menus quickly. This device is much faster than the tv ever was and the apps, movies, and games load and play flawlessly and fast. Zero regret and completely happy with this unit. If I had one request, I would ask that the power supply be usb and not a custom proprietary plug.

Best Mediabox At Time of Writing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easily the most powerful media box available at this time. Unless you use Hulu, which can't get 4k for some idiotic reason, but everything else is golden. 4K Dolby Vision? Plex, Kodi, Jellyfin and more got your back. Streaming services? You name it, it has them and it runs them smooth as can be. Unlike the Apple TV 4k or FireTV stuff, it does not meddle with your audio if you have a good receiver capable of high end audio. Just enable passthrough and you are good. You can even use this thing as a Plex Media Server (which has free hardware transcoding, unlike every other version of the server where you have to subscribe to get it) while using it as a Plex Client. And the remote is simple... but also has buttons that LIGHT UP. Why is this so hard nowadays? It used to be super common. A lot of people use your remote in the dark, make them light up.

The best AndroidTV system period
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is basically a very high end android TV box, great for TVs that have aging, or no smart TV features. It has the power of a Nintendo Switch graphics (tegra+) and likely better, so natively it is quite the machine and I use for pretty flawless performance for an HD HomeRun with DVR and SlingTV. A Roku wasn't quite strong enough to run Sling without some snags and slowdown, this device has no slowdown. From playing games over stream (Geforce GO) to emulating other gaming machines, while I don't do those - they can be done. THe remote works great, it controls my TV and Soundbar (The roku could not do the soundbar) and it doesn't get any more higher end than the Nvidia Shield. Better than an Apple TV, Roku, Tivo, or any other device. It's performance is top notch, and it's surprisingy small, with one of the best remotes I've used.

Quite simply the best streamer available
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own everything from Sling TV 4k to Roku TVs and have owned every Fire TV device at one point in time, also a few Android boxes. This is by far the most powerful streamer device I have ever owned. But wait, there's more! It's a full fledged Plex server as well as a capable gaming device. Adding additional storage is simple as plugging in a USB device and formatting, which is easy in itself because the device gives you a notification that external storage is connected, click the notification an boom, ask you if you would like to format it as system storage. The AI upscaling is cool, it definitely makes lower resolution media look better. You can pair any bluetooth headset, keyboard, mouse or speaker you want. The interface was my favorite until I got the new Google Chromecast TV device, which I highly recommend if you don't need all the extras and just want an awesome streaming experience.

Best Streaming Device Hands down!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down the BEST streaming device on the market! We have a higher end Sony A8H set and the processing on this is much better than the TVs set even. We bought a second one for our bedroom set as well. Love it. TONS of features and the response time is amazing with all apps versus the other streaming devices. Upscaling is amazing. You can even customize buttons on the remote. The green light on the box can be turned off too but it doesn't really "glow" onto the wall or anything annoying - I've yet to notice it at all in either the living room or bedroom at night. The remove has an accelerometer built in as well so when you pick it up it immediately kicks in the backlit buttons which is a nice perk.

Old but still sold. For very good reasons.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's 2024 and no other Android TV device comes close to this thing. Why are you even looking at a Chrome Cast, Roku, Firestick, etc... Got a 4K TV with a terrible OS like WebOS? Or the manufacturer stuck a sub-par processor in it and the 4K experience is lacking? Then just get this. Tried and true since it was released YEARS AGO. I've tried the other solutions. They lack the performance to allow me to do what I expect of a modern device. I want to stream 4K HDR not just from your common apps, but from my PC in whatever format I have my videos in and not have a headache. I can do that by just getting the necessary app from Google Play Store. If I really wanted to, I could sideload whatever app I needed because I'm not LOCKED into any sub-par ecosystem. This is just pure Android TV. And it simply functions like an Android device should. Freedom to do whatever I want with the expectation that it should work. There's a reason why this is still sold today and hasn't been replaced with an upgraded model. No other product can compare because the "competition" is all cheap hardware.

Love my Shield
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Late adopter but I love the device. I got it originally for Steam link after Samsung smart TV's dropped support. I now use Sunshine and Moonlight on the shield and it works great. Usually just 2ms added in my network with this setup.

Excellent Streamer!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is so much better than my Fire Stick 4K. It is really fast at loading apps. The remote, controls the volume on my Onkyo Home Theater receiver and is back lit. The 4K AI up-scaling works great and I can add storage through two 3.0 USB ports!

Pricey, but the best.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's get this out of the way: $200 is a lot for a streaming box. That said, for $200 you're getting the most powerful streaming box on the market and, for fans of Android TV, basically the only worthwhile option prior to the release of the Chromecast with Google TV. The devices is snappy, the new remote is greatly improved, AI upscaling works amazingly well, it has support for Dolby Vision, and, if you're looking to emulate your favorite old games, this devices is as good as it gets for that. What more could you want? My only real complaint is it doesn't support HDR YouTube. This isn't a major loss for me personally, but some might care about this. All that said, while this is undoubtedly the best Android TV device on the market (especially for emulation), I would say the $50 Chromecast with Google TV is probably the better purchase for most people.

Much better than using built in TV apps.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally cut the cord and dropped Dish after 21+ years. We got YTTV and using the built in apps on our Samsung 4K TV were painfully slow. The Chromecast with Google TV in the bedroom worked fine but in all my conversations with others they all claimed this was the best streaming device. They are right. The upscaling gives us a better picture than Dish ever did where the Samsung TV did the upscaling. Apps load fast and work well. Changing channels is much faster. The only issue I've seen once in a while is YouTubeTV not streaming a video when switching to it which seems to work fine after reopening the app. I've yet to add a disk for DVR'ing channels from HDHomerun but that's next on the todo list. It's a bit steep in price compared to others but if you can afford it, it's a great device.

The only streaming box youll need
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best non 3rd party streaming box youll find. Yes its from 2019, but it still beats everything else out there. The ability to do almost anything youd like to do allows your expierence to be clean and free of all those ads being shoved down your throat like some other devices like to do now. Trust me dont think about it and just buy it. If they release a new model this year I will instantly purchase it no second thoughts.
