Works well, not much better than previous version
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most capable streaming device, able to keep up with any task, marginally better than Apple tv 4k, the only device in it's league at the price point. Absolutely optional upgrade as older pro version does everything this version does sans sub-4k upscaling, and single-layer Dolby vision support. If not interested in these features, skip this release and hold onto previous gen shield pro. If looking for center in media consumption, this device is a must have for the savvy Android user, all others, see Apple tv 4k

Great Improvement over 2015 version
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had owned the 2015 version of the Shield. It didn't support Dolby Vision bur was a really good Android device. When the new 2019 came out, I bought one on the first day. Wow, nice improvements: Faster menus/system Dolby Vision support AI based new upscaling The Dolby Vision is great but the new AI based up scaling is incredible! Turns older videos into almost Blu-ray quality. Great Improvement!

Best there is
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down the best streaming device on the market. Full 4k HDR, Dolby Vision capability with first class AI upscaling of lower resolution content. All hi def audio codecs, Dolby Atmos and DTS X are supported. It even has gaming support as well. You get what you pay for and you get everything with the Nvidia Shield. Word to the wise get the PRO. DON'T get the tube version for less!!! It has performance issues but you can't go wrong with this one

The Best in the game.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent streaming device I recommend this device to all of my family and friends. You can’t beat the speed picture quality and performance. I’ve been purchasing Nvidia products for the past five years. I have not had any issues with there products. If you want the absolute best in the game choosing Nvidia is your absolute best option.

Picture quality while streaming
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned apple tv 4k, roku ultra and fire tv4k and the picture quality in this far exceeds any of them. The true test is when you ho back to watch older shows and see the upscaling to 4k. Older shows have never so beautiful. Between that and the dolby audio make this worth the price if you want the best picture and siund quality when streaming.

NVDIA Shield 2017 -> NVIDA Shield Pro 2019
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First - Don't get the NVDIA TUBE version, you will regret it! This unit replaced my older Shield from 2017, which is still awesome and in the bedroom now. Plus I couldn't resist the sale and CC bonus points :) TV/Sound = SONY 65" 850F w/ Definitive Technology Studio Slim soundbar + ROKU Ultra x4660 as backup. If you have the 2015 or 2017 Shield, not much of an upgrade if your TV is in the mid tier. > Powered by Android, so you can do alot with it... > From 2017 unit to Pro, identical built and software + new updates like AI upscaling, DV, and new remote. You can buy the new remote for $30 for the older Shields. Not much of CPU speed increase from 2017. > The enhanced AI upscaling is really good on older content (720P + anime) but on newer stuff, you probably won't notice it. > Awesome game emulator. Tons of classic games to relive your youth and get a portable HDD or USB flash. The storage is < 16GB In a nutshell, if you have an older Shield - stick w/ it and get the new remote. The only unit I think that goes head to head is the current Apple 4K TV in streaming content but the NVDIA Shield does soooooo much more due to Android OS plus NVDIA is still doing updates on older Shields!

Fast Android TV
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best streaming device of them all. It is fast, has options on top of options, or just use it with defaults. Amazing improvement in the picture quality on streaming 720p and 1080p live tv streams compared to built in apps on most smart TV's. Only thing missing is Fox Sports 4K/HDR on that app, and some HDR formats on Youtube, but that is the fault of the app, not the shield. Highly recommended.

Best 4k Media Player on the market today!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't really say anything bad about the Shield Pro. It plays all of the major streaming apps in 4k with Atmos. I added several game emulators and it easily syncs with multiple controllers. The remote easily paired with my 4k Samsung TV to control the power & volume. If you are looking for the best all around Media Player on the market, look no further!

Best Android based media streaming box.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great little streaming box. I have always loved Apple TV boxes as they are the best in terms of peformance and smooth experience. I still think Apple TV is the best out there. Coming to this nVidia, compared to the stock android OS built into TV's with mediocre SoC, this thing will blow every other Android based TV OS out there. Didnt buy this for gaming as I purely wanted a great TV experience. Like the phone double clicking the home button will take you to the apps manager where you can close unwanted apps. Built in Plex server and USB ports and flexibility on how you can connect to the connected storage from your PC etc makes it a great home based media server as well. I am not sure how much Netflix pays nVidia for that shortcut button on the remote, but thats the biggest problem. Its wayyy toooo close to the volume buttons. The buttons you tend to use the most in any remote. So look forward to launching Netflix often when all you wanted to do was control the volume. I have thought of disabling that button completely as I dont have Netflix.

Great android TV experience.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the previous shield and decided to upgrade to this new one after getting a new 4k TV so I could make use of the Upscaling the new model has and its been great. The upscaling really does make a difference and its good. You can have a good amount of detail without losing clarity which is impressive. the new remote also feels solid and I like the inclusion of the netflix button since we watch a lot of netflix in my household.

Great for Streaming, Doesnt Cut it for Gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially bought this device to let us access streaming services (our "smart" tv is just getting slower and more buggy over time) as well as streaming games from my Desktop PC to our TV. Works great for streaming services, much faster to load and much more responsive than our aging Roku TV which has apps crashing and freezing constantly. Game streaming on the other hand leaves something to be desired, i set up my computer using Moonlight and while the streaming DID work I found it to be too choppy to be usable, especially the audio. Im going to try a strong Wifi extender as i dont have access to an ethernet port for the device... but i dont really see this being a vibable game streaming option with our fairly standard internet setup. (Ethernet source to Wifi reciever)

By far the best media streamer on the market.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best Streaming box I've owned. I also own two 4k Apple TVs and this is much faster and responsive overall, with a great upscale for non-4k media and a really nice, quality feeling remote. The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it runs on Android TV, so it doesn't have the best interface, and sometimes it won't wake up so I have to disconnect the power to reboot it. Overall, it's a really nice unit and if you use Geforce Now or Steam Link in-home streaming, it's a MUCH better choice than Apple TV (which won't even allow Geforce Now).

Good upgrade from the 2017 model
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two of the 2017 models, and this is a decent upgrade from them. I mainly use these for running Kodi which is playing local movies and tv shows from my main PC. The remote on this is much nicer than the 2017. I haven't used the 4k upscaling yet so I can't comment on that. I don't notice any speed difference, though I suspect that might be more apparent in demanding games. One thing I have noticed is that every problem I have with my 2017 models has been fixed in this version. I have a number of problem files in movies and tv shows that will not play nice with Kodi for some reason, and this updated device works on ALL of them perfectly. I also have had HDMI handshake issues with my 2017 models since the last update, and this model does not share those issues. Overall, a worthwhile upgrade.

A worth upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Already had the tubular nvidia shield and recently purchased a projector, so I decided why not try the better one now that it's finally back in stock. No regrets the 64 bit android interface has colors that pop out more and upscaled content looks better. Both are very fast but this one is noticeablu snappier. I am not disappointed with either of them and neither will you, but if you want the best of the best this is it.

The only streamer I use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only streamer I use. It is super powerful, fast and can be fairly customized to suit your needs. I use it as the main hub of my home theater. I can't say enough good things about it. This is my second Shield and probably won't be my last. I am a fan for life or until they change this perfect little machine in a bad way. It is a little pricey but worth it for me.

Best android TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the 2017 Nvidia Shield but wanted another one for a different room. The Shield TV Pro is definitely worth the money. The AI upscaling works very well. I really like the newer remote too. The only negative is that for some reason I can install the Dish Anywhere App on the 2017 Shield but the newer Shield is not compatible. I hope this is addressed soon.
